I saw Nojima in Los Angeles 3 times & heard his "live" interview on Leonid Hambro's radio show. His tone production is very special in an auditorium & unlike any other pianist, "poetry" according to the L.A. Times critic & i was truly blessed to have heard him play. I cant describe his profound & beautiful tone. The first time I saw him he played "Leggierezza" as encore.

His playing of Harmonies Du Soir blows me away. Awe-inspiring, and the best interpretation of that piece I've heard. It's a shame there aren't more recordings of Mr. Nojima, but it is a blessing to have what we have!

Agreed! Everybody plays the first half way too fast. This is incredibly effective Liszt.

Same. By far my preferred version. The whole tempo is just perfect. And these tones and textures. Legendary.

This is terrific; thanks, Mark. I've seen Nojima's name a couple of times in piano discussions, but I've never heard his playing. Wow. Why has he chosen not to make more recordings?

I can’t think of any pianist who played a Feux follets that compares to this!
    Even Richter in Sofia..

It just reinforces the fact that there is so much crappy Liszt playing out there. But not by this artist! La Leggierezza is phenomenal!
