A May 29, 1983 concert performance of Minoru Nojima playing Mozart's Piano Concerto No.27 in B-Flat Major K.595 with the NHK Symphony Orchestra conducted by Hiroyuki Iwaki.
Nojima was a stupendous pianist whose transcendental pianism was offset by incredible modesty and focus on musicality. In the 1980s, his audiophile LPs and CDs devoted to Liszt and Ravel on the Reference Recordings label were critically lauded but the pianist largely eschewed studio recordings (he made a magnificent debut album of Liszt and Brahms for EMI in Japan which is on my RUclips channel in two separate uploads). He passed away on May 9, 2022 at the age of 76.
He was a master craftsman who could do anything at the keyboard, capable of the most thrilling pyrotechnics but always attentive of musical content. In this concert performance of Mozart's B-Flat Major Concerto, Nojima takes quite a spacious tempo but always plays with impeccable articulation, masterfully shaped phrasing, and beautiful tonal colours.

    藤田真央さんのお陰で野嶋稔さんの演奏が聴かれるのは嬉しいです。音の美しさでは、定評かあり、好きでした😢

How lovely that Minoru Nojima allows for just that little bit of extra time for Mozart's it's-a-given extra beauty. Thank you, Piano Files, for the posting.
