Omg I'm so glad I watched this video! I got my printer and my Hiipoo ink and was getting ready to try some sublimation but all I have is butcher paper with a waxy coating!! Man Angie, it's like you read my mind sometimes. Lol. Thank you for this video!!
Wow glad I watched this because I did my first project with parchment paper on top but not inside or on the bottom. My 2nd project again I used parchment paper on top but not inside and some of my 1st project was on the back of the shirt. Lesson learned. Trial and error. Learning curves for sure. This is just what I needed and definitely helps answers all my questions. In making earrings with infusible ink, I found out how the ink can transfer onto my Cricut heat pad and teflon sheets. Thanks for this information.

I’m in a pinch and using copy paper… do I need to layer a certain amount of sheets of paper or just do a single layer, enough to cover the ink space from the transfer? Making my family’s Disney shirts last minute & never done suv before and now I’m panicking 😅
Hi there Angie! I see in some videos, you can use Parchment paper in the mug press. Is it safe? If si, do I have to tuck it under the mug and cut it so it is above the top of the mug. Hoping to hear from you soon! Susan D
Thank you for all your useful tips. I have a couple of questions. On my first time trying sublimation on 2 tumblers. no ink transferred on to the tumblers? I watched a lot of videos and followed the instructions to the letter. I used a Hamilton Beach toaster oven. Any idea what I could have done wrong? I just ordered the HTVRONT tumbler press and I'm going to try again. Instead of shrink sleeves I need to use butcher paper. I don't have white but have a bunch of pink butcher paper that is not uncoated , should I avoid using pink ? You recommended only using white, so should I just use copy paper for now?
If it is not transferring, you either don't have a sublimation ink or you don't have a sublimation coating on the tumbler. Only those two things could be the issue.
We use Teflon sheets and baking paper in our shop, never any issues so when people post vids like this I’m guessing it’s more of a personal experience they went through themselves and viewers will get like minded over it. And always start with left chest prints first, then the back last. If you have to use a paper underneath, you’ll use smaller pieces.

@@AngieHolden nope I have never had an issue with ink and I have used the same teflon sheet for a few months. I'm a small business so use it regularly as well. I use the blow out paper and then the teflon sheet on top of that. I have actually found that it helps prevent scorching
Angie, if my heat press is 16x20, should I cover the entire bottom of the platen and the entire top with blowout paper? Or do I just use a little larger than the logo size?
I used blow out paper on top and inside shirt. My print comes out uneven. Bright in some areas and dull in other areas. When I used a Teflon sheet it prints perfectly. ( Teflon sheet ruined with excess heat) any thoughts would be helpful and appreciated

Oh Dang, I was told to use Teflon paper or parchment paper after driving to two Walmart stores and Hobby Lobby, I was over annoyed at hearing "Sales clerks" tell me those were fine for sublimation as well as sounding like they have no idea what they are talking about.
I have searced for butcher paper and i found Rolls with No coating of any kind 100% natural but all of The Rolls i find is pink, Can i use that when i sublimate because you Said it should be White and i cant find any Rolls in just White ?

I get the most uses out of Artesprix protective paper. Any of it can be reused as long as there is not ink on it. I just have an issue with the butcher paper turning brown.

Hi Angie, I’m not sure if you were asked this already but, I have a question in regards to sublimating polyester shirts…I made the mistake of using parchment paper and the ink from the design stained it. I continued to use the same parchment sheet and the ink then transferred to the next shirt I pressed. I ended up messing up a bunch of shirts not realizing what was happening. I plan to get some butcher paper or copy paper but I wanted to know if I need to change out the top blowout sheet (that covers transfer) each time?

Just tape is fine for a press then put protective paper over it. For the oven, I would add shrink wrap. Always look on the website where you purchased the tumblers to see what they recommend for time and temperature.

No issues at all! If you are using sublimation paper or the Cricut Infusible Ink transfer sheets, one layer is good. If you are using copy paper, three layers.
Angie thank you for your very helpful cricut videos! WHY COULD YOU NOT USE THE BROWN BUTCHER PAPER, OR THE CRAFT COLORED MAIL WRAP PAPER? I have only made one mug press project so far and I used the parchment paper you recommeded NOT to use, OOPS! My project turned out great but there were scorch marks on the paper. Just watched this film and it was good downside is I’m in the U.K. and I can’t find the artesprix paper and the butcher unwaxed on Amazon is £47, about $60 US dollars Would anyone who is in the U.K. know what paper to get for doing sublimation to protect your blowout? Would love to know what people use. Due to visit family in the USA next year once the U.K. is allowed in, I guess I will be buying the shops out and get my aunt going to her SAMs shop with a list. Any tips on removing bleed through on shirts? 😭 I’ve always used Gildan shirts and never had an issue with ink bleeding through to the back of the shirt, but I’m working on a large order now with Bella Canvas shirts and every single one bled through! PLEASE HELP!

Hi, I purchased the protective paper from artespritx but its stains the shirt yellow. I use 400 degrees for 60 seconds on my commercial heat press. What am I doing wrong?
I see the Artesprix butcher paper for sale on Amazon, but instead of "white" , it says "neutral". It looks possibly "off-white"? Sis that ok to use, or does it need to be truly white?
My white butcher paper burns and sticks to the 100% polyester material ... heat press at 350 for 45 seconds medium pressure ... what am I doing wrong ?
@@AngieHolden I think my press was set in Celsius n I was putting it in F also was experimenting on a pillow case that was 100% polyester some say not to use that - I tried just reg plain paper as protective sheet n it worked - now to get the colours fixed up 🤦🏻♀️
Help! I used Teflon because another video said to. They also said not to put anything between the shirt ugh. Can I use copy.paper on top and in between? The paper won't catch fire?
I just look at my copy paper and make sure it says on the back that it is okay to use in a laser printer or copier. That means it can withstand the heat. You didn't ruin the press but if any ink got on it, you will need to be really careful for a while until it wears off. Add extra paper.

Have you ever used packing paper before? I saw on another video this lady said paper from U-Haul will work or may have been your video. Sorry I've watched so many. The paper did leave an imprint and it had a paper smell. But no burn marks just an imprint of the project I did
I'm in search of reusable blowout paper. Save money and help the environment and what not. So like 2 sheets that would be used forever lol anything like that?
Nothing that good as you need to get rid of it when you get ink on it. I can use the Artesprix paper more times than anything else without it browning.

I use teflon sheets for pressing HTV on my heat press but I don't use them for sublimation.

I use copy paper and then my teflon sheet over the copy paper and it works great. It helps to not get scorch lines
Does ink not get on your teflon sheet? Also a teflon sheet is actually NOT recommended over the top of sublimation.

Oh got it. The blowout sheet is catching any ink. It actually traps moisture which is why they say not to use it.
What about white craft paper? There is no coating on it. I have a huge roll of it from when my kids did art projects. Would that work?

I don't cover mine with Teflon. I just put this on top every single time.
I cover mine with the teflon it helps to prevent scorching

I have never seen or heard or someone using painter's tape over their design. I think it could melt and damage your surface.

A white kraft paper would probably be fine as long as it doesn't have any coating on it.

If you get any ink on the paper, you want to change it regardless of paper type. I check my paper each time and reuse only if there is no ink.

To switch inks, you would need to completely drain and flush the printer.

I am just afraid the brown may stain at the high temperatures. That is why they always say to use white.

I have one from Amazon that fits the roll I bought. Not sure how big your roll is.

Any tips on removing bleed through on shirts? 😭 I’ve always used Gildan shirts and never had an issue with ink bleeding through to the back of the shirt, but I’m working on a large order now with Bella Canvas shirts and every single one bled through! PLEASE HELP!
There isn't anything you can do after it happens. SORRY! Be sure to always put something inside.

You can use it as protective paper. I wouldn't use it to print on.
Why can't I username the peach butcher paper if it is uncoated? Does it damage the fabric?
There is a chance the color can transfer to your surface under the high heat.
Hi, I purchased the protective paper from artespritx but its stains the shirt yellow. I use 400 degrees for 60 seconds on my commercial heat press. What am I doing wrong?
I have been using this for years and have never had an issue. I heat it to 400 degrees several times. What material are you pressing on?

Not exactly sure what you are trying to press but you can use water to remove any paper.

I see the Artesprix butcher paper for sale on Amazon, but instead of "white" , it says "neutral". It looks possibly "off-white"? Sis that ok to use, or does it need to be truly white?

My white butcher paper burns and sticks to the 100% polyester material ... heat press at 350 for 45 seconds medium pressure ... what am I doing wrong ?
I have literally never had butcher paper burn. Is it coated? You should always get uncoated.
@@AngieHolden I think my press was set in Celsius n I was putting it in F also was experimenting on a pillow case that was 100% polyester some say not to use that - I tried just reg plain paper as protective sheet n it worked - now to get the colours fixed up 🤦🏻♀️
In another video you used Teflon pillows to prevent lines on fabric and you said it wipes off, so I’m confused why the sheets are different.
I actually covered those with protective paper as well.

Nope! This paper keeps it clean.
Can you re-use the butcher paper after every use? Or do you have to toss it out after every sublimation?
I reuse my protective paper as long as there is not any ink on it.

Help! I used Teflon because another video said to. They also said not to put anything between the shirt ugh. Can I use copy.paper on top and in between? The paper won't catch fire?
Oh also did I ruin my heat press? Because I reused the Teflon and I saw some went on the shirt
I just look at my copy paper and make sure it says on the back that it is okay to use in a laser printer or copier. That means it can withstand the heat. You didn't ruin the press but if any ink got on it, you will need to be really careful for a while until it wears off. Add extra paper.
@@AngieHolden thanks a bunch. I went to dollar store and got white packing paper. I used it and it didn't catch fire. But I have copy paper I will have to read the package. Have you ever used packing paper before? I saw on another video this lady said paper from U-Haul will work or may have been your video. Sorry I've watched so many. The paper did leave an imprint and it had a paper smell. But no burn marks just an imprint of the project I did

Why does the butcher paper have to be white? Would brown craft paper work?
With the intense heat, color can transfer from anything that is not white.
How about white cardstock instead of copy paper?
It should be thin for the top layer. You can use cardstock on the bottom.
Also on the 'Do NOT Use' list is freezer paper and wax paper.

Nothing that good as you need to get rid of it when you get ink on it. I can use the Artesprix paper more times than anything else without it browning.

Why can you not use Teflon
It doesn't release moisture and if you get ink on it you just ruined a pretty expensive item.
I use a teflon sheet on top of my blow out paper. I have found that it helps with scorching
