I want to thank you for posting this. Just added these lights to my 2023 Tacoma SR. There is NO WAY that I could have installed them without your video!
Lmaoo "if you didn't like it because it wasn't detailed enough, chances are you shouldn't be modifying your car"😂😂 bro ain't that the truth. Nicely detailed video man!!
I have a 2020 SR V6 pre wired. Contacted my local Toyota dealer regarding fog lights. They wanted $280 for the kit plus $130 per hour for service which was estimated 2 hours. So $600 for an already prewired truck just for fogs. I said that’s ridiculous! The parts agent said “I agree”! I couldn’t justify the cost. Bought the Amazon kit, got the add a fuse. Installed in about an hour and a half. All for under $50. Thank you SO SO much man for this vid! Worked perfect man. Kudos sir!!
So you did not need to use the wiring installation kit that came with your Amazon purchased light kit? You used the factory wiring and installed a fuse into a factory fuse box already in the truck? I'm asking because I bought a 2023 sr V6 double cab and it does not have the factory fog lights.
I just installed mine today. Thank you for the informative video! Just an FYI, my dad and I figured out that the male connector fits perfectly over the end of a coat hanger wire. If you then tape it with electrical tape, you can thread it through the grommet on the fire wall instead of using a screwdriver to pass it through the outside of the grommet
Quick tip, instead of running the wire to where it can rub against the metal that the rubber grommet slips over just poke it through the rubber next to the wire loom so you don't have to worry about it shorting out.
Dont pass your wire like that in your firewall! Over time the sharp edge will cut your wire! Instead, make a little hole into the plug (watchout for the others wires), pass your wire and seal with a silicone! (Just a little) Besides that, thanks for your video! Great one!
Great video but I do have one major safety issue with how you ran the wire through the fire wall. You ran the wire directly against the metal hole in the firewall. The wires insulation will eventually wear down due to vibration and motion and the wire could SHORT out against the metal frame of the truck. Whenever a wire is run through any metal hole in ANY vehicle (car, truck, train, plane etc etc) it runs through a rubber grommet. The purpose of the grommet is to prevent the wire from EVER touching the frame of the vehicle. A much safer way to run the wire is to use a sharp screwdriver or awl or whatever and poke a new hole in the middle of the existing grommet while leaving it in place. Just be careful and then poke the wire through the new hole just as you did. You do not want to run the wire AROUND the grommet because that defeats the whole purpose of the grommet.
I was going to ask that. Could he have just routed it through the existing wiring hole? What would happen if you disconnected the wiring harness that’s going thru the firewall now and tried to use the same rubber grommet?
Eduardo, Nicely detailed video. I did the same mod a few years back. I have just one comment concerning the operation of the fog lights. Most states do not allow for fog lights to be operated along with high beams. I had to add a relay to have the fog lights turn on turn off while the high beams are on. It is all legal now and works like a factory installation.
@@EddieTee321 lol, nice response. In other words. U dont give a fuuuuuuuuuuck!!!. Who cares about ur fog lights being on with high beams lol. Who the f has ever been pulled for that, id bet no one.

Hey bro Just installed on my 2018 sr work truck. I followed your vid through and everything works as it should thank you s for the details. Just a note not crazy about the gap between the fog light and the outer housing. Nothing on you. Thanks again for the great video.
Thank you so much for the detailed video. I just bought this kit and installed it on my 21 SR. Everything works as it should. The fog light surrounds fit loosely and the interior switch is VERY bright green at night.
U can prob always pop that swith out. Obv it has a tiny bulb somewhere, probably soldered to something, but non the less, either try to sway it out, or just hit it until it no longer is lit up and that solves that all together.
Most Toyota Tacoma are prewired for many of the options whether you have them or not. I've instal factory intermittent wipers, cruise, and fog lights at a fraction of the cost the dealer charges. They sell a factory fog light kit that comes with new headlight switch, fuse (which is prewired in the fuse box in engine compartment), wiring harness, and lights with bezel. Don'T ever run a wire through the firewall like rhis guy did. If you look at 13:00 that plug by his left thumb with the gray and white wire is the factory fog light plug that the fog light wiring harness plugs into.
@@ryanfay1 yes, but it is not hard to do. Take the proper precaution with the airbag and you'll be fine. Just look at the plug going into head/turn sig switch first to see if the wire harness is prewired. There should be 1 full row and 1 row with just 2 wires. Those are for the fog lights (signal going to Ecm and the ground)
So the 12v fuse tap is just an on/off indicator for the relay thus you could just find any wire that is hot when the ignition is on saving the fuse tap step. You could find the headlight fuse and use that for power to not have to tap directly into the battery.
Ik this is old, but this guide was helpful. I did some steps in my own way, since the 2020 tacomas are just a lil different. Other than that, its straight to the point.

I bought the bulbs from the link in the description and they don’t fit in the lights. Idk if they’re the wrong bulbs or what.
where can i tap in the fuse box, if i want why switch lit on when I turn on the park light? which fuse location.. thanks man
That wire is going to chafe on the body. Push it through the grommet not around it.
Great Vid!! Does the "green" light stay on even when the switch is off?
Unfortunately yes. When off its green lit but dimmed.
Thanks!! Could I just not have the green backlight at all?
@@eaglesfan32 im sure you could cut the power cable behind the switch and not worry about the green light
@@EddieTee321 Thank you!! I think I'll do that.
did the kit come with the screws to hold the fog lights in place? I order a kit but it didn't come with no screws.
Yes it did. Go to your local hardware store and pick two up. You'll be alright
Did you have to buy separately add a fuse ?
Eduardo, My son has a 2020 Toyota Tacoma TRD Offroad. Will the kit you recommend fit on this vehicle.

@@EddieTee321 Thanks for the QUICK reply! Probably not a fair question but: How does this kit compare to the Cali Raised LED foglight kit which is three times the price in your opinion.

Yes they should of given you the fog light switch
