This is one of the best covers (if not THE) of one of the best rock songs ever and Heart just brought the house down that glorious night, congrats on this upload dear Gloria and big thumbs up!
I'm sorry, but I tear up every time I hear this rendition. Such a big part of my life growing up in the 70's. There was a radio station in my home town of Jacksonville, FL that every Sunday night would play the listeners top 3 songs. They called in and voted. Stairway To Heaven and Freebird usually alternated as 1 and 2. Went on for 4 years. 1975 to 1979. Thank you Ann and Nancy Wilson, and their very talented band, especially Jason Bonham, for this treat. I can't imagine the members of Led Zeppelin reliving those times, they wrote it and performed it. You can see it in their faces. It was special to me, and I am sure it was special to them as they remembered those days. Thank you.
Yes, it was very touching for me to watching him. Very good drummer, maybe not as good as his father, but decisively has something similar to him. And is easy to see that he is very moved. It brings tears to my eyes.
I couldn't get enough of this, I played it over and over. Who ever gave the thumbs down are idiots and have no idea what a classic song this is. This was an era of real singers and talented musition. They all gave a great performance.
Jason has played drums for Zeppelin on a couple of different special occasions. I've watched with mixed emotions. Jason is a good drummer in his own right, but overshadowed by being Johns son. While I am sure he is honored to fill those shoes, it has to be an emotional roller coaster.
OooooooH, or should I say Ahhhhhhhhhhh , this was so dang AWESOME AWESOME, OH WOW OH WOW, JUS WOW !!!! THEY NAILED IT, NAILED IT NAILED IT!!!! THNX FOR SHARING , HAVE A SUPER GREAT AND BLESSED AND HIGHLY HEAVENLY FAVORED DAY TO EVERYONE AND FAMILIES AND PETS ALWAYS !! GRRRRREAT USA!!!!!!!!
I didn't realize just how much of Led Zepplins music HEART does. They truly honor them in every note they sing, and play, and they do it So Very Well! We just don't have the same kind of music today, it doesn't have the same meaning and you can't relate to it; not unless you are a criminal or worse. I'm very sad to say that! But am so grateful for the old Rock and Roll that brings back such great relatable memories for all of us... Young or Old.. Thank you ❤ HEART for Always being there and singing such beautiful music!
As someone who has broken this song down for almost 20 years writing several papers on it in high school and college and is a complete purist this brought me to tears when I saw it on tv and still does every time I watch it. Amazing.
I’ve commented on this performance when I first saw it. Wow. I’ve seen Zep 5 times live. This amazing cover by Ann and Nancy was brilliant. Plant got emotional. He’s sang this epic song for a long time. The best cover of Stairway ever. In front of the best band of all time.
Sorry to disagree with you but if I rated led Zeppelin's album version at 100 the Wilson sisters Kennedy honors version would come in at 98. This was not a studio gig with sound engineers laying tracks over tracks This was a live production which had at least 70 singers and players performing and was absolutely performed to perfection. You could see how impressed John Paul, Jimmy, and Robert were. The sound of silence cover in comparison isn't even in the same galaxy and actually shouldn't even be mentioned.
Absolutely outstanding performance. My best female rock singer with my best male rock singer watching and listening with his eyes covered in tears of joy and certainly lots of memories. Simply amazing. Thanks for uploading this video.
When you can make arguably the greatest cellist in the world rock out to a Zepplin tune, with Zepplin in the audience no less, you're doin a whole lotta things right....this performance was incredible, absolutely incredible....
"make"? :D The greatest musicians know and respect great music, no matter what the genre. Just consider for a moment about how many Rock and Roll guitarists hold the likes of Chet Atkins, Les Paul and many other country musicians in the highest regards. I believe that Itzhak Perlman will play anything that is "quality". But, you are absolutely right about the rest!
This rendition blew me away when I first saw and heard in 2012. I still get chills every time I hear it. It is also interesting how Robert Plant has a difficult time hiding his emotions throughout the performance.
I've been watching and listening with goose bumps many times, and I also wonder what went through LZ's minds at this performance, especially Robert Plant's...was it what he felt when they made the song? His kid passing? Bonham passing? Or just remembering those days way back ...feeling proud of what he and the other guys accomplished ... I wish there was a video interview on YT where Plant would explain, if he can explain...? Going to research it now 😉
@@judithmagill1449, the choir was what really brought out the emotion of the song especially when they all came out with John Bonham's hats on! Was a fitting tribute to Bonzo the only member not there and if you paid attention that's what brought out the emotion in Led Zeppelin! Robert plant could barely contain himself.
I was in 7th grade when the 4th Zep album came out, I was stoked then and am now too, to see the emotional reaction of Robert, Jimmy and John Paul, Wow, sweetest rendition ever

Your Very Creation affecting the world and most of the people in it. Just Imagine that!.... Robert Plants face said it all holding back the tears as he realized what they have done. May the Universe Bless Us All, and build us all a Stairway to Heaven!
