    I'm sorry, but I tear up every time I hear this rendition. Such a big part of my life growing up in the 70's. There was a radio station in my home town of Jacksonville, FL that every Sunday night would play the listeners top 3 songs. They called in and voted. Stairway To Heaven and Freebird usually alternated as 1 and 2. Went on for 4 years. 1975 to 1979. Thank you Ann and Nancy Wilson, and their very talented band, especially Jason Bonham, for this treat. I can't imagine the members of Led Zeppelin reliving those times, they wrote it and performed it. You can see it in their faces. It was special to me, and I am sure it was special to them as they remembered those days. Thank you.

      Yes, it was very touching for me to watching him. Very good drummer, maybe not as good as his father, but decisively has something similar to him. And is easy to see that he is very moved. It brings tears to my eyes.

      I couldn't get enough of this, I played it over and over. Who ever gave the thumbs down are idiots and have no idea what a classic song this is. This was an era of real singers and talented musition. They all gave a great performance.

    • @johnberry704
      @johnberry704 5 лет назад +2

      Jason has played drums for Zeppelin on a couple of different special occasions. I've watched with mixed emotions. Jason is a good drummer in his own right, but overshadowed by being Johns son. While I am sure he is honored to fill those shoes, it has to be an emotional roller coaster.

      I didn't realize just how much of Led Zepplins music HEART does. They truly honor them in every note they sing, and play, and they do it So Very Well! We just don't have the same kind of music today, it doesn't have the same meaning and you can't relate to it; not unless you are a criminal or worse. I'm very sad to say that! But am so grateful for the old Rock and Roll that brings back such great relatable memories for all of us... Young or Old.. Thank you ❤ HEART for Always being there and singing such beautiful music!

    • @anthonynelson9136
      @anthonynelson9136 5 лет назад +1

      Sorry to disagree with you but if I rated led Zeppelin's album version at 100 the Wilson sisters Kennedy honors version would come in at 98. This was not a studio gig with sound engineers laying tracks over tracks This was a live production which had at least 70 singers and players performing and was absolutely performed to perfection. You could see how impressed John Paul, Jimmy, and Robert were. The sound of silence cover in comparison isn't even in the same galaxy and actually shouldn't even be mentioned.

      The greatest musicians know and respect great music, no matter what the genre.
      Just consider for a moment about how many Rock and Roll guitarists hold the likes of Chet Atkins, Les Paul and many other country musicians in the highest regards. I believe that Itzhak Perlman will play anything that is "quality".

      I've been watching and listening with goose bumps many times, and I also wonder what went through LZ's minds at this performance, especially Robert Plant's...was it what he felt when they made the song? His kid passing? Bonham passing? Or just remembering those days way back ...feeling proud of what he and the other guys accomplished ...
      I wish there was a video interview on YT where Plant would explain, if he can explain...?

    I never tire of coming back to hear this performance by Heart... It's so perfect at all levels, so beautiful I get emotional inside and teary eye. It's further moves me to see Jason Bohnam on drums as a tribute to his great dad John Bohnam. I saw Led Zeppelin when I was a teenager in the Bay Area Ca. When we had what was called "days on the Green". They were all day concerts when many rock groups would play all day long. When Led Zeppelin came on we all were in awe. John Bohnam was so entertaining as we watched him play. He was really one if not the best drum player I've ever seen. He really enjoyed what he did. I remember Jimmy Page doing a riff solo and 2 crazy girl fans got on stage. John came out behind his drums and started dancing and lifting their flowy dresses as they danced and the girls didn't seem to mind at all! For a moment, they were really just having a wonderful time! Truly a character! Great memories with great music. Thank God for the art of music! The international language for all ✌️

    I hope everyone notices that is Jason Bonham on the drums. When he looks up at the end of the song, you can see how emotional he is, in tribute to his father. This is such an amazing performance, I just wish they would not have cut out passages of the song to condense down and make a shorter version.

    • @belin-teamdjokovic1628
      @belin-teamdjokovic1628 5 лет назад +4

      @@belin-teamdjokovic1628 , If you put the original version and this one side by side, you will notice this version is much shorter. A lot of the song was left out. Changes, for instance, from the verse to the bridge to the chorus were truncated.

    Robert Plant knows that a singer`s body IS his/ her instrument - musicality is so intrinsically linked with the soul / body in a way that playing musicians can`t quite fathom. You just have to look at the reactions - one is WAY deeper......

    Dig this. I saw Heart at Tiffany's skating rink in Puyallup in 1973. They did some Led Zepplin covers, including a great version of the Immigrant Song. Ann can still sing, but she had crazy pipes back then. And then, 39 years later, playing for your idols at the Kennedy Center with Obama in the house.
