Good stuff, Ben! I've got a half marathon in 5 weeks and my goal time is a sub 90 minute.. Would likely be easy for you but your videos inspire me to train hard!
You can do it! Hope it goes well 👊🏻
Mate a sub 90 half marathon is no joke and isn't easy to achieve. Goodluck
PBs at both half (1:21) and full marathon (2:54) for me this year. Your channel (along with Ben Parkes, Phili, and Floberg) has been such a good source of information and inspiration throughout my training block. The sport is in a great place right now, and channels like yours are definitely a bit contributor to that! Good luck in Copenhagen, looking forward to seeing the result.
Can't wait to see how Copenhagen goes! It's a beautiful city. Go get that PB!
It certainly is! I’ve raced there twice and came away with pbs on both occasions so hopefully will continue that success:)
Came across your channel a few days ago Ben, and been watching your videos since. your videos has helped me get back into running, cheers mate!
You put in the work, forms seems great and now go enjoy Copenhagen and give it your very best, lets goooooooooooooooooo
Thank you and I certainly will!
Have a great marathon in Copenhagen. Loving those Soar shorts 😍🩳
Thank you! They are pretty jazzy, great design
Definitely take comfort in such a close call :) good luck. Copenhagen is so much fun.
Appreciate when you put in the mile conversion so I don't have to keep pulling up a calculator! Lookin strong!
Superblast 2 looks sweet 😉
Looks so sick, hope they dont drop a horrid asics colourway on release haha
@@Foxtonked first release if you havnt seen is like a greyish upper with a yellow and orangey midsole
When are they released?
Ben, I'm injured but you've reignited my passion! Can't wait to get back into the challenges/races for end of this year or next. You also make me want to buy loads of nice running stuff!! Some of the SOAR kit looks great. Good luck in Copenhagen!
Soar is ridiculously overpriced.
loving the voiceover, ben! keep it coming!
also, lfg! rooting for you next sunday!
Been following this whole build Ben. I am rooting for you for a PB at Copehhagen. Whatever the result you have put in the work and that's all you can control. Many thanks for the vids and continuing to inspire those who participate in this great sport.
Great video Ben and all the best in Copenhagen marathon, enjoy.
Thank you 🤩
Good luck in Copenhagen, Ben!
Love these play-by-plays, Ben. I'm so excited for your and your marathon! Hard to believe that just a few months back you were on the injured list. Your resilience, talent and dedication are...inspiring. :) Let's hope I can bounce back like you have once my hamstring calms down!
Good luck in Copenhagen!
Good luck Ben. I usually run there too, (not with that speed tho lol) such a shame that I’ve missed you, would’ve said hi
to you..
Good luck again and thanks for the videos and work you do, it’s a great help and inspiration..
I'm enjoying your journey.. I hope I can get a COROS PACE 3 soon and a comfy asics shoes to try 10km, 21km and ultimate complete a full marathon 2-3 years from now! My age is 40 rn.. Kudos to you ben
See you in Copenhagen! Good luck with your time, I'm looking to finish just under 4h! 🤞
The best of luck at Copenhagen Marathon. I’m running my very first marathon in Copenhagen 😅
I'm hoping to treat myself to some Soar gear for wearing over the summer months to help me get some PB's, so thanks for your discount code. Good luck for Copenhagen and enjoy it!
Good Luck Ben I just did a 10k last week and had a PB of 51:06
No wind in Copenhagen? Oh man, I wish you’d be right, but I live here and there’s rarely a day without at least 25kmh winds and strong gusts. This week has been quite chill though so fingers crossed for you 😅
Im from Copenhagen as Well. I think that’s an over-exaggeration about the wind. He is British which equals to a trip to vesterhavet to fly kites :) What’s worse is that the heat will go up.
Just came across your channel. Love it Ben, subscribed🏃👍
Strong workout Ben, keep tapering well😊
Good luck Ben, looking forward to the race vlog!
Good luck on the marathon
Thank you for not saying "first"
@@phinhowe no problem haha
Thank you 🙏
Need some soar in my life. When I'm back running 100% getting some of the speed half tights. Look great in the colourways too.
If you somehow get sub 2:20 you have to run a marathon with nick bester and push him and compete.
Hopefully toward the end of the year I’ll be a lot close to the 2:20 barrier but for now trying to not get too carried away based on current fitness :)
@@BenIsRunning good luck nonetheless bud, you've got this
Yeeeeeeee ben lets get it 🐐💪
Ben's review of the shorts sounds like it was inspired by Sexy Flanders
Nothing at all, nothing at all, nothing at all
Good luck, Ben!
Good luck fella
Ben, had you noticed? your left leg goes more higher (to the bum) tha your right leg. Just notticed that
I have yes, been working with a physio on some imbalances! Always things to work on :)
I was thinking the same thing. Glad I'm not the only one who noticed, thought it might have been the camera angle or something at first :)
Great video Ben good luck👍👍
Thanks 👍
Best of luck
south africa in the building
Looking forward ro running Copenhagen too! All going well, ill finish about an hour after you 😅
Hope you have a good one!!
I did indeed finish an hour after you! 3:28, new pb, boooom.
Enjoyed it so much, hope you did too!
so keen for the superblast 2, look sick
Thanks for the video Ben and best of luck for the marathon! I noticed in the session your left leg seemed to flick up higher than your right. Is this something you've noticed at all? Probably nothing, but just thought I'd highlight it in case helpful
Exitided to see you run in CPH.
Ben out of interest, how heavy do you go on squats? Ive been doing a lot of gym work while being injured with 100kg or so squats. But now im running good volume again I find the doms from lifting severely affects my running performance?
And good luck for copenhagen!!
I like that loop 🔁 but normally run it the other way haha 😜
Good luck for Copenhagen Ben, but I would urge caution! You were out of breath attempting 6k at 2.24 pace, so I would suggest 2.28 is more realistic given your training and current fitness. Seems to me you are similar to Matt Rees, i.e. quick but not marathon strong.
Ahh did I just spot the Superblast 2. Looks good
The weather predictions says there will be little wind in Copenhagen on Sunday. However it will sunny all day with temperatures 11-15 degrees. I hope it get a little cloudy too. Crossing fingers for that 😬
Sounds pretty good to me
Peep the ASICS superblast 2 when Ben is getting ready to leave the house 1:58
Is that the Superblast 2 I see on your warmup? 👀
Maybeee
Good spot! Maybeee = yes lol
how in the world can you even tell lol
I spy Superblast 2. Good luck in the next week and with Copenhagen
hi ben i have been a fan for awhile now but anyways i was wondering if you had any mental tips for a half marathon :)
Gwan Ben 💪 Now enjoy your taper and ready to carb up 🤞
That's the plan! Thank you 👊🏻
Hi Ben
Thanks for video. Would be interested to know what your strength and conditioning consists of? Do you ever combine your endurance training with callisthenics and is that a viable option or not really recommended?
Little glimpse of the superblast 2 I see
Can't wait for superblast 2 review
Understatement of the year: Soar is "a bit more expensive". I get that the marginal weight gains are important to your type of runner, no offense. But man, that stuff is expensive 😂
Holy moly I just checked out the prices. £150 for shorts. 👀👀👀👀
"A little bit more" = 2.2x more than Aero Swift (which I already think are expensive!)
stride / biomechanics looks more fluid in the asics
Entered the comp Ben but never received a code, is it for first time customers only?
What’s the point of weighing the shorts ? Surely it just comes down to comfort …no gains to be had there 🤷🏻♂️. Good luck though
More of just showing the difference in quality. For me the weight just empathises how they feel when running
@@BenIsRunning fair point 👍
Wow, those tights are $200 in the US. Yikes!
2:21 marathon… ambitious. It’s possible but I think you’re more likely around 2:23 high. Still a pb though 🙌
Any plans to upgrade from a tache to a beard?
If I could grow one I’d consider it
Do I spot the Superblast 2 👀
do you ever try copying other runners workouts or do you just go off what your weakest link is and find workouts that will help or just find something that raises your overall performance and speed
All of my training I’ve learned from others at some point over the last few years. Lots a trial and error later and I feel like I’ve got a pretty good understanding of what works for me :)
superblast 2s on feet 👀
have you ever run the Michigan workout
I’ve haven’t, not heard of that one?
@@BenIsRunningyou should give it a go! Here you are:
Run 1 mile (4 laps) on the track at your current 10K race pace.
After the mile on the track, jog 2-3 minutes off the track to the start of your off-track 1-mile course.
Run 1 mile at your tempo run pace, or roughly 20 seconds per mile slower than the mile you just ran on the track. Ideally the mile course should be slightly rolling.
After completing the mile off the track, jog 2-3 minutes back to the track for the next interval.
Back on the track, run 1,200m (3 laps) at your current 10K pace, aiming to hit the same lap splits you ran for the first mile of the workout.
After the 1,200 on the track, jog 2-3 minutes off the track back to the start of where you’ll run your second tempo mile.
Run 1 mile off the track at your tempo pace.
After completing the mile off the track, jog 2-3 minutes back to the track for the third interval.
Back on the track, run 800m (2 laps) at your current 5K race pace, or roughly 4-5 seconds per lap faster than you ran your first two track intervals.
After the 800 on the track, jog 2-3 minutes off the track back to the start of where you’ll run your third (and last) tempo mile.
Run 1 mile off the track at your tempo pace.
After completing the mile off the track, jog 2-3 minutes back to the track for the last interval.
Back on the track, run 400m (1 lap) faster than your current 5K race pace, or as if you were finishing the last quarter mile of a race. Focus on running fast but relaxed - hold your form!
Finish by cooling down for 2-3 miles of easy jogging. Then stretch, refuel, and rest. You’ll need it.
Competition says 15% off code - but email received only gives 10%?
Ah ok, let me check with the soar guys :)
Any word on this? I can only get 10%, keen to get a pair of shorts but holding off if there's another 5% off
Superblast 2 👀
hi ben which white trainers where u wearing in your warm up today?
What white trainers 👀🤫
@@BenIsRunning the ones in your boot at around 5 mins
@@bspace218 got to keep my lips sealed for a few weeks on those :)
ASICS Superblasts 2. Ben probably isn’t allowed to say it at the current moment!
👀 Sb2
👍
U look so much faster running in the alphaflys
Shill soar harder. All the soar kit is poorly cut and flappy as fuck. I reckon you'd still be at an advantage in Nike cos it is actually more of an aerodynamic cut
I wouldn't say they are poorly cut at all, everything I have from them fits really well and the materials always feel nice. Have used the singlets, ultra rain jacket, marathon shorts and half tights. Why do you think they're badly cut?
