Dice was so creative with this game, like they were able to make a Battlefield game set in the world war 1 era. This is what Cod has never done and cannot do
The reason why so many BF players like BF1's gameplay over other titles is because of its much slower and grounded movement. It's so different especially when compared to the more CoD-like movement like in 2042.
Agree dude. I have started playing Hell let loose and I like the fact that I can feel the weight in the game, I'm bonded with limitations instead sliding from one place to another
I believed the movement incredible. This came out in 2016 same time as cod infinite warfare. Part of the reason that a lot of people like it so much is that it feels more grounded that more modern bf games. A lot of people don't want another COD-like with loads of sliding or jumping and would prefer a more 'realistic' game. Not every game has to have the same movement options, otherwise just go play those ones. Separately, I kind of like suppression when it's done properly. I shouldn't be able to peak a corner that's being shot at. Bullets going past would affect you, you would want to take cover instead of firing back. I agree it shouldn't ruin the gunplay, but you also probably shouldn't really be able to shoot someone 50-100m away without penalty if you're under heavy fire.

@@boyishdude1234”Most of the people who played BFV, and still do, aren’t Battlefield fans. They’re CoD fans.” Lmao. I have heard a lot of assumptive crap whenever I argued against Attrition and this one always takes the cake. What about me then, who has been playing since BC2 and has also played a DOZEN other different shooters, even ones that do not have regen like Counter Strike? Oh, I must still apparently be a Speedy Gonzales-arcade shooter fan for not liking Attrition. But let’s move past that a tiny bit and get into the meat. There is simply less expression of team-creativity now that you are forced to sit around a Medic, forced to run to med crates, and sometimes forced to JUST be a Medic for the entire game. Getting rid of basic self-sufficiency just to counter lone wolf players also severely dampens the potential of team play in an actual communicative squad. Let’s not forget, running to a flag is not the only way to play the objective, there’s a dozen ways to do it. But even when you’re doing one of those strats such as holding a whole lane down to stop players from moving across the map to buy your team a lot of time, and you win a plethora of gunfights there without a medkit or medic, you’re still full of holes you can’t regen. Now suddenly you got to punish yourself by getting shot by another batch of people by running a mile to the crate? Are you kidding me? It is a very, very needless damned if you, damned if you don’t moment that seems to just prop up again and again. Not to mention, squads that work together are generally never found that often through solo queue. If at any moment an online game with no ranked mode needs to tell you as a solo player to “come back with people you know or sod off” based on its mechanics, spoiler alert, unless it’s a game like TLOU Factions, it is absolutely trash. Battlefield games up until V with Attrition never did you wrong like this, not even Bad Company 2 when you couldn’t even see your own health bar. I guess I must still be an annually recycled shooter fan being against Attrition anywho huh? It doesn’t help that it’s further compounded by animations being slapped on everywhere. Getting out of a vehicle required an animation, reviving someone required an animation, falling from a certain height required an animation-so if you get hit during those sequences you’re forced to be in with zero control, the joke is on you! Haha! Sayonara! And this is just under the assumption we’re playing Conquest, under the CURRENT Attrition system. In a partially asymmetrical game mode like Breakthrough, Rush, or Grand Op, I can’t imagine how genuinely AWFUL it was for Attacking back when you needed a Medic AND a Support player for every tiny little strat you had to do. Tell me though, was that era of limited deploy ammo still “fine” to you? Genuinely never was bro, and it never will be. That’s why it isn’t even in Battlefailed 2042. Here’s to a long lasting win-streak of NOT seeing Attrition ever again.
@@dontletitburn To give some clarification, the "assumptive crap" you're mad about was referring to the people who don't play their class or the objective; the dead weights that exist in nearly every match of BFV and 2042 in droves. The Medics who don't Medic, the Recons who don't spot targets or place Spawn Beacons, the Supports who don't place down Ammo Crates, the people who just camp in the back of the map and do nothing the whole game, etc. The people who don't even so much as _try_ to win the game. Lonewolves, while I believe they are problematic in some of these games (especially BF4 and 2042) for a different set of reasons, can at least be said to have some value on a team as long as they're actually doing the things they're supposed to be doing to further the team's chances of achieving victory. The same can't be said for the "hyper-casuals" (for lack of a better term) who don't play the game at all. So, just to make sure I understand what all of your points are, you're saying that it's a problem to force squads to run a Medic and/or Support player, and that a player may sometimes be forced to run as a Medic the entire game, because it limits the freedom that people have in how they can approach any given situation in the game by making it impossible to be mostly self-sufficient by either having enough individual skill and/or being inside a sufficiently skilled quiet or communicative squad? Which leads to a different problem, which is that it forces players into a situation where they have to choose to either continue executing their current strat or to give up their position to go back and resupply, or to ask another squad member to temporarily come and give you resources before going back? And that these problems are all exacerbated by solo queuing, since finding a squad of decent players, communicative or not, is rather rare? With the additional points being that the previous games didn't punish you in this unfair way, even in BC2 where you couldn't see your exact amount of HP, and that animations were unnecessarily slapped onto everything, which punished players unfairly for doing basic in-game activities? Is all of that a correct summary of your position? Or did I miss something, or get something wrong?
Honestly hard disagree on the gameplay, it’s some of the most enjoyable of the series. The graphics and atmosphere are not enough for me to pour 300+ hours into the game. The class system plays really well in this game, the guns are different but fun to use. It’s a legitimately fun gameplay loop and I wish dice would take note from it and BF4/3.

BF1 is still my favourite because of its immersion and historical setting. And yes I am one of the people who thinks the game is an experience. Yes the movement isn't perfect but I think with its immersive setting, they just tried to make it a little more realistic. Hate it or love it. I think Battlefield V (not the launch version) is also pretty good in its current state.
I mean saying the game got kill because the slide was the only way to push is a good way to say I don't know what to do. The slide was useless but it was still possible to push. I don't understand him. At the end this game got the same problem than the 4 and 3, grenade spam, vehicle camp but this was more horrible with the famous combo artillery truck + KSA player i still don't understand why like 99% of them only play support or bomber plane and artillery truck. I only dislike the gun who had diff version, it was pretty bad. And I think it's the only bf where you can really have fun with all the guns
@@boyishdude1234 The slide didn't change anything. It's still the same in every battlefield, you just go around them. And the game 100% not design around a slide lol, it's bf1 not cod.

No shame on both RUclipsrs. In fact both videos from JackFrags latest video and this one are right next to each other in my subscription feed. I watched Jacks BF1 video last night and thought it was good and I just watched this one and thought it was good. Even though they both made videos on the same game, their input and views were different and I found it interesting to listen to both videos
I've always said this. BF1 was the last time bf felt like bf. The game was not perfectly and did fall short in a few areas (the weapon variant system was clearly put in to pad the weapon count. Why do we have multiple variants of the m1911 with the only difference being skins?) Is it a master piece? No. But I still think the game concluded the golden era of BF as best as could be. Then it all went down hill from there.
This game slaps because its not competing with COD in any way. This is different and unique. 2042 and BFV kinda feels like they had a meeting with stakeholders telling them to make something like "COD".
Bf1 had the same exact slide as bfv. The only difference was in bf1 u could slide repeatedly without delay. They should have just made it so u couldn't do it infinitely instead of completely ruining it
I like BF1, but there is so much cheese it gets annoying so quick. The incendiary and gas grenade spam is cancer, prone LMG users melt you from a hundred metres away and with suppression you can't do anything about it.. It's fun with the right players and maps, but it takes only a few players to ruin an entire server.
I remember I use to love operations but now having played battlefield v and 2042 breakthrough I just find operations too long and normally get bored after the first reinforcement
I think suppression is a good mechanic, especially when playing in a squad. It's the best way to counter long range snipers. Suppress the shit out of them so your buddies can flank or get a shot. Also, if I remember correctly, it prevents people from healing. So you can halt an aggressive player that's pushing.
The team balancing part is true for this and 5. Every game is decided by a 300-500 point whooping no matter how well you do. It was kind of a problem back then, but it's every game now since the players are only diehards or people playing it for the first time in years.
The decision process at a DICE developer's meeting must be pure chaos. DICE constantly makes incomprehensible decisions in the most bizarre fashion of any AAA developer on the planet. It's mind boggling how often they mess up the simplest formula in FPS gaming. They have to remake the wheel every blasted time and it always makes the game worse, infuriates the player base, and creates the impression that DICE is actively sabotaging their own franchise.
BF1 being released in 2016, it really makes me feel old when I realize thats almost 10 years ago and I used to love the fk out of BF2 and 12142 back in 2006-2008....... "The correct term is spread" Well, in BF2 and 2142, it was quite literally called "Deviation" in the game files. You have Standing_Deviation, Crouching_Deviation and other random deviation lines. Spread might be the more modern term for it though. BF2 and 2142's "deviation" also felt very RNG and fixed, like your gun was only so accurate in each stance of standing, crouching and prone. Also, yeah, it was annoying. When I finally modded BF2 and 2142 for Coop/SP, I drastically lowered deviation.
@Vulmen311 because it was too samey for the previous few years, plus it was the only battlefield game to go mainstream in gaming. The community needed new blood, but the flops that were BF5 and 2042 failed to keep them around. Had BF5 been good to go out of the gate I guarantee you it would have been the best selling game of the franchise. It had damn near everything going for it until DICE made all the weird design decisions. Like they had the most players ever after BF1 and all they had to do was introduce them to a proper battlefield formula but instead made it mil sim-y but also shit
I know you said you would not play bf4, but if you did given you play in a server not getting ddos attack. You would get a better experience than the one u had recently in bf1
I used to get those guaranteed kills or flank on a bad position because of the way the slide was. I could dodge around player’s aim, even my buddy who would often switch teams often got meleed or bayoneted by me through that strat
the way BoB clan kicks you for being over 2 k/d is the way all of battlefield games lobbies should look like , casual and fun with fun derived from players wanting to have fun not wanting to play competitively . nobody likes playing against caffeinated slide and jump players in a battlefield game .... this guy dislikes SBMM in cod games but as a casual player i wish you get to play vs competitive people like yourself only

BF1 is a true battlefield, being not just about infantry. You want infantry to be the primary role, then BFV is probably the best at that, especially while playing as action man Assault.
"Movement was the only way for aggressive player to gain advantage.' You mean outside of the smgs with high fire rates and in some cases with huge box magazines?
The problem I had was that BC2 was the first BF I played and it was followed by BF3. Everything after just missed the mark in a fundamental way despite all the QoL changes that were made following BF3. I thought it was nostalgia but even against bots, on VU, BF3 hits differently.
You mentioned that movement mechanics helped counter snipers, but it's gone. But you also don't like suppression, which is an *amazing* counter to snipers. I prefer the position-based strategies, vs "who can duck a bullet faster". Getting fewer kills is not a problem in Conquest, lol.
6:34 this is a common thing with BF1 these days, since it's player base is so low, especially on NA based servers, team stacking and balance has been pretty much turned off and it's very rare to see the "you were switched to improve balance" People who are dedicated to BF1 like to constantly play with their friends and buddies that are also dedicated to the game, hence why stacked teams happen so often, and why most games are a spawn camp whichever way you play it. I recently came back to BF1, and as an NA player I don't think I had a game that wasn't a steamroll crunchfest. Steamrolling is boring cause the super good players take all the kills and such while the less-skilled never catch up... and being steamrolled and spawn camped... yea I'd rather just kill the game and go play something else when that occurs
handsdown... this and BF3. They had like a realness to them. I know alot of ppl like BF4 but i always felt like it was a little cartoonish to me. BFV and 2042 also. BF3 and BF1 just felt like a actual war.Gameplay wise tho BFV is the best in that field

play it now - it still really holds up today imo! even graphically while of course being an older title now basically guarantees you a high refreshrate experience if you have decent hardware of course
It was by far the best Battlefield for making rage compilations. So much BS in the game that just hits you out of nowhere. I will actually applaud them for the amount of BS that they managed to put in the game.
Every server I joined was completely one sided, making it really boring when you are on a team with pros or frustrated when your on a team of new borns. I remember it was way more fun during the French DLC release.
OK... I have some issues with this, I understand, from watching other videos of yours that, you are more of a arcade/movement shooter, player, that said BF1 might not have been the game for you, and that's ok, because there's a plethora of FPS games out there that acommodate that playstyle. And with that said I'll just point out that the "movement" in BF1 was downright perfect near thge end of it's life, and that was by design, as you yourself said, the game becomes positional, as intended. "agressive play styles" are suposed to be High Risk, High Reward, with an emphasis on the High Risk part of that equasion... That system works realy well for many a player that is looking for first and foremost an immersive experience. You then proceed to afirm that, those that prefer the sort of experience BF1 provides, to have such bad aim that "they can't hit the broadside of a barn"... yet you yourself are an agressive player, that forces CQB, which always was plenty viable on BF1, but reflexes and actual acuracy were more dominat than controler, or in your case, keyboard input. That takes me to the next point, BF1 was developed, with special care for the console experience, and the movement limitations, combined with supression as a mechanic (I'll get to it in a second), were all considered to provide a more balanced and fair experiente in a time where aim-assist on console was either none at all, or aimbot-lite. You also point out that Sniper Rifles i.e. Bolt-Action Rifles are too dominant in BF1, to that I say, it is a WWI game, Bolt action rifles where the standard all the way to the 1940s and in some coutries even beyond that. Now about supression: this mechanic has been controversial since the days of BF3, nut it served some important functions: First it gave machineguns a pourpose beyond being super assault rifles, by making supressive fire viable (which pairs realy well with the spread decrease mechanic), thus making these weapons a viable counter to sniper rifles. Second it helped with slowing down the combat, thus enabling flanking maneuvers, but also adding flavour to the cover shooter dynamis of BF1, that once again fit the themes and goals of the game. I also fullly understand that to you none of these are positives in your prespective, but I invite you to try entering the Pseudo-Milsim, Hyperreal depiction of WWI that BF1 provides, worry not with how you usualy play and try to play within the limits of BF1, think of your character not as an expendable avatar, but as virtual encarnation of you, in the dreaded trenches of WWI, hopefuly you will enjoy it just a litle bit better next time. Best Wishes and keep up the good work!
This is my first Enders video, and I don't understand how Enders disregard immersion/experience. BF1 brought in many new BF players thanks to the immersion itself. I do agree the gunplay is more noob friendly, but it is nowhere near as bad as BF2042. For some reasons, I personally don't find it enjoyable to shoot in BF2042. BF3 is still my best BF, followed very closely by BF1, then BF4.
BF1 has a nice base for modding i feel but i a not sure how many years would it take for modders to get full access to it and what kind of stuff they could make
I went back and played BF1 for about 20 hours. It's a lovely game and much to commend it, but I do think some people are wearing rose tinted glasses if they truly believe it's better than BFV or Season 6 BF2042 in terms of mechanics and gameplay, and thank goodness they got rid of Sniper Sweet Spot in subsequent titles. You can throw eggs or whatever at me now.

I can explain why you find the balance so bad on BF1, and it’s the same problem everyone has, especially on public servers. it’s essentially when the player base dwindles, the number of noobs playing declines dramatically compared to the number of good players, who stick around because they’re the ones left enjoying it. The problem is the auto balance isn’t able to function properly when this is the case and it just gives up, it’s like it can’t properly assess the skill level of “too many” high skill players, and in such situations where one team is getting steamrolled, you see like 10 level 150 players in one team and none or, maybe one or two in the other. Anyone with a functioning brain can see the problem but the auto balance apparently doesn’t as it uses a weird metric for determining skill. However, when there’s lots of noobs playing, there’s generally not a problem because the the conditions are simplified enough for the balancing formula to work.

It's insane.
I think the main reason battlefield 1 isn’t the greatest game is because it alienates a population of players that are ‘competitive’. The game is just too causal which isn’t a bad thing at all. It just means it can never be the greatest FPS title. For an FPS game to be considered ‘the greatest’ it has to appease both causal and competitive players alike. I remember seeing alot of pple outright reject bf1 when it came out due to how casual it was. Nickels video reviewing battlefield 1 is the same opinion alot of pple hold honestly.

The immersion was the biggest factor. Just listening to the music in the menu put you in the setting lol.

This is one of the takes of all time for bf1 😵💫
Bf1 had the same exact slide as bfv. The only difference was in bf1 u could slide repeatedly without delay. They should have just made it so u couldn't do it infinitely instead of completely ruining it

"The correct term is spread"
Well, in BF2 and 2142, it was quite literally called "Deviation" in the game files.
Because there was no cosmetics crap , every class had their distinct look

I did like the more casual spin that BF1 had, found it refreshing at the time that was kinda what the franchise needed too
Why did the franchise need to be casualized?

You would get a better experience than the one u had recently in bf1
reason I like this game so much (and I assume everyone else) is because how casual and chill it is, who cares if the movement was bad
I used to get those guaranteed kills or flank on a bad position because of the way the slide was. I could dodge around player’s aim, even my buddy who would often switch teams often got meleed or bayoneted by me through that strat

Only thing I agree with, from your criticisms, was the server balance. Completely broken. Never fixed it.
You said it heavily hindered it, any chance we can get a cover of hinder lips of an angel Enders?
6:34 this is a common thing with BF1 these days, since it's player base is so low, especially on NA based servers, team stacking and balance has been pretty much turned off and it's very rare to see the "you were switched to improve balance"
People who are dedicated to BF1 like to constantly play with their friends and buddies that are also dedicated to the game, hence why stacked teams happen so often, and why most games are a spawn camp whichever way you play it.
