I think that the "rules" for the capsule wardrobe are useless if you aren't going to wear the clothes, i.e. maxi skirt vs. skater skirt. You've taken the suggestions and shifted them to something that is actually practical for you, as well as adding a couple of pieces you wouldn't normally have considered. Absolutely perfect!
I agree! Like sometimes I'm tempted to try a capsule wardrobe but I really don't like wearing heels, dresses, skirts, blouses or button-down tops so it would just be pointless lol

Alternative application of this capsule wardrobe: I'm going to attempt to use it as a guideline for decluttering my clothes since I have a fair amount I've been meaning to get rid of. If I end up having multiples of one category, I'll only keep the one that I truly love/will use the most. I'll tweak it a bit to be practical for me, and allow for seasonal and sentimental pieces; otherwise, I'll know I don't "need" it taking up space. I hope this new approach will take out some of the anxiety/uncertainty of decluttering clothes. :)
Def keep in mind having enough clothes for dirty laundry days. You will immediately regret throwing out too much and end up either wasting more water washing stuff more or end up wearing dirty clothes
I was thinking the same thing. I'm plus size and tall so stuff is difficult to find on a good day. I've had a rule for years not to buy something unless it goes with at least 3 other items I already have so and some are medically needed (shoes) so shopping in my closet may be the way to go. 😊 I don't have the legs for skirts/dresses so I'm not going to be buying those anytime soon either lol.

It was always My sister, my mom and I who hung around every weekend as a kid and went walking in the woods, to the stores. We were always together. It sucks not to have her around. I'm going to be 45 yrs old tomorrow and it will make 10 yrs in January and it's still not any easier. I'm sorry your relationship is not that way. I have a very close relationship with my daughter. I love this! For me thrift store shopping is, yes, about the prices, but a big part of it for me is that I'm not buying cheap, fast fashion items that fall apart after 2 washes and poison the earth when they're produced. Plus the charity aspect, knowing that the price I'm paying is helping the community too. So thank you for showing how awesome and fun thrift store shopping is!

Love the idea of thrifting the items! Also the thing with capsule wardrobes is that it's supposed to work for you, so Mia changing things/adapting them was the right choice. That way you create a collection that works for you and that expresses your style. Honestly, a capsule doesn't have to be neutral at all, it can be as bright as you like it or all black if that's what you prefer! I wonder if Mia could create a capsule wardrobe collection but out of her own clothes? Its a fab way to also really figure out your own style and really see what you love wearing the most. There's lots of guides out there on how to assemble one from your own items. Wholeheartedly recommend, and a great thing for those that are perhaps counting every penny at the moment.

After everyone spent the first lockdown unable to thrift and watching that Marie Kondo show, our thrift stores all exploded with stock when things opened back up. It was like thrift nirvana! Except the thrift stores also jacked up their prices. Not so nirvana
Love this! I’m plus sized so it’s hard to find cute clothes anywhere and even more so in thrift stores. I actually end up buying tips from the men’s department. I find graphic tees and flannels etc that fit my style more than the loud prints that a lot of plus size clothes include .

Giving the fact the you already own a lot of clothes, I think this video would have been more interesting if you were to create a capsule wardrobe out of your existing wardrobe and maybe thrift the items you didn't have, because that's how most people do it to save money
She typically donates almost all of the clothes she buys for videos. She doesn’t really keep that many and she did a video earlier this year of cleaning out her closest so she probably didn’t have enough that fit the requirements
That's also kind of the point of capsule wardrobes! Well, there's many points, like for Mia it might help her to get more creative with pieces. But I also think that capsule wardrobes are to reduce waste since there isn't really a place for fast fashion in them. So I think most of the time, it'd be encouraged to pull it from your already existing wardrobe!

Media literally puts so much work into her videos. I mean she does regular videos like hauls and makeups but the majority of her videos require so much extra effort (I am not implying that hauls and makeup videos are no effort) like her house/room revamp/decoration videos, she tries to stitch/make stuff and so much more.

Mai, thank you for being such a 'real' person. I get sick of people who judge me for loving thrifting to the point of buying many more clothes than I need, but will accept clothes I donate to them! It's so much fun to find someone on the Tube who obviously finds clothes such a creative and fun outlet, and shares her passion and creativity with others. Coming all the way from New Zealand x.
Thrifting is in fashion right now and over the last 2/3years more and more channels incorporated thrifting into their doing. Mia is really not the only one.

Media literally puts so much work into her videos.
