I now only have one drawer with all my clothes (except a few dress and shirts i have hanging) because of this! This pandemic has changed so many things.
Also, in my house we use like the nice dresses for everyday because otherwise feels like a waste, specially with the toddler lol

hey mia- i just wanted to thank you for donating to women’s shelters! i worked at a shelter for homeless women for a year and they were always really excited and grateful for the clothing, especially for more “modern” or “in style” clothing. it allowed them to express themselves and really honored their humanity to feel worthy of looking really nice, in clothing that they liked, rather than just having the more typical donations of older style clothes or basic plan pieces. truly, i cannot express to you how happy these women probably feel to be able to feel confident and happy in your donated clothes! really appreciate that you take the time to thoughtfully select different places to donate. love your content!

@@Skyler_Momoko hi, sorry this is so late! it really depends on where you live. the place i worked at was based out of phoenix, az- but i would really suggest looking up your own local shelters, or reaching out to whomever it is in your area who supports the local population of people experiencing homelessness. thanks for wanting to donate, and for asking! sorry it took me so long to respond! i took a social media cleanse 😅
My new favorite thing to ask myself is, "If I were to lose everything in a fire and have to buy things again, would I buy this?" The spark joy and have I worn this don't really resonate with me, but this does for whatever reason haha

I know this might seem kinda heavy, but the random mama maples content really fills me with joy. My own mother wasn’t a mother at all, I have zero happy memories with her and I barely even knew who she was past age 10. But the simple communication between you and your mum warms my heart in a way I’ve never felt before. Thank you for allowing me to see what having a mum is like, even just for a moment ♥️

@@torihickman5726 for me it's the opposite but every feet are different. My converse are the most worn as they are one of the few shoes that don't hurt my feet when wearing them all say. Nike and such brands for example I don't like as they do the opposite. But I agree. Everyone should wear only shoes that fit them and don't hurt their feet unless you choose not to do that but only for short amounts

As a plus size woman who has always been plus size, it made me so happy to hear about how you've changed your thoughts on Brandy Melville. It can be hard to recognize when a company is problematic when the problems don't affect you.
My mom taught me to hang all my clothes with the hangers backward in my closet on January 1st. Then by the next January 1st, it becomes really easy to know what you should give away because you can see which clothes are hung up with the hanger still backward!

80% of my clothes are folded on shelves 💀 but I can use this for the remaining 20%!
@@serinab if your clothes is folded, you can put them in the wrong way on the shelves. (i dont know how you organize or fold your clothes, so its up to you what is the wrong way ;-) )

I love that you care about donating so much. So many influencers sale their stuff because they know people will buy it since they’re “famous”. You have such a good heart and the world could use more of people like you.
I was thinking the same thing. It’s not like they need the money, so donating is a great option to actually help people.

@@priscillathomas6382 Really? Maybe it depends on where you donate it to? Since Mia said that wherever she donates, they seem to be very grateful for the clothes. And I've always been told that I should donate things I don't want anymore so that other people can use them.
@@dasha_ucko i’ve sorted at donation centers and they only really throw out clothes that are in bad shape some thrift stores throw out “ugly” things too but none of mia’s clothes fit that definition
We live in Minnesota. I own 4 swimsuits and my husband says that’s way too many. He heard where you got rid of 15 swimsuits and still had some left he said “that’s is an unhealthy absurd number of swimsuits for a Canadian” 😂
You can’t wear a wet one if you decide to go swimming twice in the same day or next day if your first pair is still wet!

Lol I’m from California and I only have two bathing suits, my sister has one. I see mostly teens and younger women with more bathing suits, especially living by the beach or if they go to the beach a lot. Some people buy a lot because there’s so many choices but then wind up wearing one or two of them.

I love how successful Mia is, but still doesn't have a huge closet full of over-priced designer items, just to collect them and to show them off here and there. Whereas a lot of successful creators do a closet tour to show off, Mia does a clear out of her closet.
Of course everyone should do what makes them happy, but I think it's refreshing to see that Mia uses her money for other things instead of on status symbols. And yes, she buys a lot of clothes from all kind of brands, but it's usually for content reasons.

I have found it if you put the hangers in backwards at the beginning of the year, then put them back the correct way as you use them...you may find that there are some that never get switch back around/worn. Feel free to donate at end of said time period. 😍

PSA: try not to donate to large thrift stores (goodwill, salvation army, etc.) They tend to throw a lot of stuff out and are overcrowded with merchandise. Instead, look for smaller mom and pop thrift stores or shelters to donate your goodies. You put all that work into donating them, so they should have the highest possible chance of not being thrown into a landfill

How do you find good places to donate? I’d rather find a place that gives the clothes to to needy, rather than selling them and the funds are somehow supposed to go to help?

I recently donated five boxes of clothing and still have like three or four to go. And I have to tell you it's so satisfying to clean the closet and then donate all the stuff. Keeping really nice and fun clothing for your future child is a must! My daughter cherishes the clothes I passed down to her and I’m super glad I had kept my family tradition of Mother to Daughter and even Auntie to Niece clothing. I even wore 3 pairs of 70s vintage bell bottom Levi jeans that I got from my Dad when I was in junior high and the memories have still lasted. My Daughter loves the Paris sweatshirt I bought in France when I was 17 and my soul purpose was to wear it like 2 times and then put it away to stay nice for my future Daughter. I feel like it’s a special thing to do for anyone who dreams of having kids and when the kids find out that you kept items just for them and they weren’t even born yet makes them happy.

Another thing to keep your closet organized- when you buy something new, ask yourself if you need it or want it. Most of the time, you'll put it back. When you do buy something, get rid of another item so your closet stays clean and organized. 😁👍

Having "Memory pieces" is totally fine! I have a box with some items in it. Too worn to wear, but too special to toss. Like my first pair of "expensive" sneakers I bought. They where special edition so not in regular highstreet stores and my mom tried to convince me not to bust my money on them. I did 'bust my money' and lovingly wore them out.

I think sometimes people have the wrong idea about keeping multiple items of clothing that look the same. I have a lot of things that look similar, because I know that style/cut/color is some thing I feel comfortable in and enjoy wearing. I don’t mind having redundant clothes because that means there’s something about them that I really love and gravitate towards!
You've inspired me!! I have so many clothes, and now I want to go through and give a bunch to a shelter! Especially because my body has changed a lot in the last few years, and I need to embrace that and let go of things that no longer fit me. I'm 23, and I shouldn't be trying to look like I did in high school. I'm an adult woman, it wouldn't be healthy for me to be the same weight I was at 17! SO, time for a clear out!

Are we gonna talk about what good of a person she is? When she says she loves the tops but hates the company so she gives them away. Also, Mia's personality is so happy and fun. All the shoes she decided "could go" and most of the clothes as well, were things I would totally keep and vise versa, but I love black and bland stuff, the fact she keeps all the colorful stuff is so nice and makes me happy.

I experienced an apartment fire at the end of November and let me tell you, I will 1000% donate to shelters and similar charities from now on. Don’t get me wrong, I shop at Goodwill a lot so in the past I have donated there. But there’s a charity called Fostering Bulloch that gave me A SUITCASE and filled it with clothes, entirely for free. And another thrift store in my area let me pick out anything I wanted (except from the designer clothes section) and gave it to me entirely free. I was stunned and so indescribably grateful. So you better believe those two places will be where I donate to most in the future. I’m still working on rebuilding everything, but that was a huuuge help, alongside the assistance I got from Red Cross and very helpful friends and family.

If you are unsure of getting rid of clothing, like the red jacket, you can put those items into a bin for 6/9 or 12 months. If you go into the bin to take something out because you miss it or want to wear it, then you keep it. After 6 months the things you never took out you can donate.

Well done Mia and mama Maples. Getting rid of clothes can be very emotional. I recently immigrated and got rid of 90% of my clothes. It's been 2 weeks since arriving my my new country and realised I've only worn 4 outfits. My family has kindly offered to sort out the donations on my behalf

Time moving faster as an adult is so true! It goes even faster with kids. When I was pregnant my boss said "your life is about to move in fast forward" and omg... truth. It's so amazing that you have all these videos to look back on, all the cute moments with your family and your accomplishments!

This is a time where wish i lived in the same area as Mia cause i would DIE for like 99% of the clothes she's donating. You would find me going absolutely FERAL with joy in the thrift store over all these pieces. So happy for all the people who've ended up with them
Mia, I watched this video and then rewatched the one where you renovated your grandparent's house and these along with the rest of your videos show what a kind, generous and caring person you are - which is pretty rare on social media. I've had a hard year and your videos have lightened my heart and I just wanted to let you know that.
