      I am NOT a hoarder. My mom was a massive hoarder. You had to see all the stuff to believe it. She’s 91 now and my sisters and I have managed to get her to throw away a couple of pickup truck loads. There’s at least 2 large dumpsters of stuff she kept. She refused to let go of it. Most of it is useless. It’s a shame because it’s truly a mental disorder. She lived through the depression and it really affected her. At least all of this stuff was useable.

    • @kristisiggers8068
      @kristisiggers8068 Год назад +11

      Hoarding comes in different levels. Just because your mom’s hoarding was bad and looked different doesn’t mean you don’t hoard

    • @CarnivalGhoul
      @CarnivalGhoul Год назад +9

      @@TheTlangdon You can also hoard useable stuff.
      I mean, just look at those people who use a shit ton of coupons all the time - the ones who just keep going out once or twice a week to buy hundreds of dollars worth of stuff just so they can get it all for $15 or whatever.
      All of that stuff is useable - such as laundry stuff, food, drinks, bedroom stuff etc. but they just keep on buying it and packaging it up as them being "money smart" when they aren't and instead just have a shopping addiction and hoarding problem.
      One person can just hoard dolls while another person hoards cans of beans - but those are still hoarding problems. You cannot write off someones hoarding just because it happens to be usable.
      That being said, I really don't think Mia nor her mom are hoarders, though I could be wrong as they didn't show every single second of their day on camera, but their lack of an emotional response and with their ease of cleaning it lends me to believe they just have a lot of stuff and "hoarding" sounds, weirdly, better than "pack rat" which is what they are.
      Hoarding is psychological - like you mentioned - but again, just because it's usable doesn't mean its any less of a problem.

Everyone's so chill and encouraging and forgiving and have good sense of humour, and that's exactly what makes Mia's videos standout among all RUclipsrs: her personality. I had a song stuck in my head for about a month and couldn't figure out what the name or who the artist was until low and behold I watched your Instagram story about donating prom dresses. It was Weezer's Island in the Sun! Lol so thank you for solving that little mystery for me and being awesome in every way ❤

    I really love videos like this because it inspires me to downsize my own stuff (not to this scale lol.) I’ve definitely been procrastinating for so long and watching this was so satisfying and gave me some motivation to finally get started! ❤️ I’ll always love any video you put up Mia, don’t worry too much about what your viewers want to see, we’re always happy with your videos! It’s so nice to follow a channel that changes the themes up all the time and have some variety 😁

    Well done Mia and family. I'm also in the process of packing up and moving to another country so I have to get rid of about 90% of stuff. Thinking of selling it stresses me out so I'm going to re-home with family and friends. All the best with the rest of the packing

    It’s not really feasible during Covid but you should do a series where you redecorate/remodel viewers’ homes! I bought a house last year and I’m so hopeless at decorating and knowing what color to paint walls etc! Or even bigger projects like re-doing crown molding and kitchen countertops, cupboards etc!

    This reminds me of my first apartment that had 2 storage spaces. I remade one into a library and stored stuff in the other, which wasn't even full.
    Mom kept telling me I had too much stuff... and then she started to put stuff into the library XD
    I have one storage space now, but I only have empty boxes stored there atm. I'm a crafter and a techno nerd, so I need the stuff I have in my apartment ;)
