Yes, the patches work for a temporary fix, but I found that Gorilla Glue actually worked better. In fact all the Gorilla glued spots still hold air to this day. Just my .02, both work but in my experience the Gorilla glue lasts longer. Good luck with your kayak!
Aaaand same place here too, on my Intex Challenger! Patch didn't work either - because it's hard to get it sitting evenly across the seam, as soon as you inflate, the air pressure just finds the least path to resistance - the seam - and pushes its way out. I'm gonna try using a whole patch instead of a cut out, and then probably some glue, and I may even call Intex and say 'hey look, at least 4 people here with a hole in the same spot, what does that say?'
Thanks. I plan to buy one of these and my river has lots of areas about 2" deep over bedrock so I'm concerned about bottom holes and will carry some Gorilla Glue.
A little tip to reduce the chances of a puncture is to not inflate the bottom tightly, keep it little lose while also not affecting the buoyancy of the kayak. Think of a fully inflated and underinflated balloon, the underinflated one is very difficult to pop compared to the fully inflated one.
@@MissionForFishing had luck with pvc patches and chemical super glue for packrafts and then some gorilla tape. its seems air tight now 😉 ( no bubbles ) hopefully it will hold on the water too!
Could you use gorilla tape the clear type instead of an intex patch...would it hold up? Amazing that the gorilla glue holds up. What other methods has anyone else used to patch an intex?
With a hole that large I’d say either carefully try to melt it back together with a scrap piece or use a lot of gorilla glue and set a patch over it. A hole like that is very difficult to fix, I hope one of these suggestions helped!
@@MissionForFishing Can u please show how to melt it because I'm not having any experience with this and boat a new one. Gorilla glue is too expensive in India so it's not affordable.
@@MissionForFishing For larger holes, you might want to patch it from the inside as well by sliding a patch through the hole, sticky side up. Let it cure before applying the outside patch. Also round the corners of the patches to keep them from peeling back up.
Oh, thanks! I was just searching how to use that Intex repair patch coming with the kayak. It looks like a perfect kit to repair a small punch hole...

You are so awesome! I have the EXACT same hole on the bottom of mine. Patches didnt work, gonna try glue! Thank uuuuuuuuu!! Xo
I got the exact same hole in the bottom of my kayak. Let me know how you go with the glue.
@@MICKAA16 Did they glue work folks?

I just fixed mine with gorilla glue, it worked!!!!! 😀 thanks
Nice! Does it still work
@@nate08122 Yes, I took out the kayak twice and no leaks!!!!!!
Thanks Buddy. I'm going to try this. My seam burst and I've tried the patches. They did not work. Will try the glue

I tried flex tape and it did not work so I'm sueing phil swift
Why didn't you use the patch on the bottom? I have a hole in a similar seam too. Thanks
I had tried but the patch seemed to have a much harder time binding on the seam.
@@MissionForFishing Yeah, I just saw a blog where they use "GOOP" on the seam. I am going to try that today. I hope it works.
@@MissionForFishing same problem here, used both the patch and gorilla tape outside. didnt keep the air in the kayak .....
@@da9el883 haven’t tried gorilla tape but the foaming glue is what we had luck with.

Literally got a hole in the same spot on the bottom. The patch didn't hold. Gonna pull that off and try the Gorilla Glue method
Same spot too.
Same here. I glued it with other glue and it did *not* hold.
I'm having Intex mariner 4 and it is having long patch around 10cm. Can u please help ?

Whhhaat if there's a huge gaping hole inside the kayak
I'd probably try to find a larger patch that would cover the entire hole.
