This video makes me feel great about buying my recent find. 2002 Type S with 150k for $800. Drove three hours to middle Illinois, it was leaking oil like crazy from the cooler/filter housing, and the seats were trashed. PO thought it was a rear main seal, but it was adult driven,fully stock except for an Injen intake, had maintenance records, and new tires.
$800, an oil cooler from a friend, some new base seats, and I’ve got a Type S with no grinds, moderate miles, and an 8,0000 RPM redline. The thing seriously rips.

When these came out I was not a fan, but now with the new integra released, I guess it wasn't so bad after all.
Thank you all for this video. I was listening to this while driving my new Type-S. Facebook marketplace has proved garbage for these from my experience and long search. Most have been messed with and beat on to hell. If any of you are looking for one, be patient and find a lower mileage clean one, no aftermarket intakes, no aftermarket exhausts, and no accidents or signs of shoddy frame reconstruction which I have seen in person. It's okay to pay more for a good stock, well maintained one because you won't have big problems initially and later down the line.
I can second this. Bought my type s in February with a few mods and been doing monthly major repairs ever since. Selling it and bought an RLX from an old grandad. No modifications and no engine codes is where I’m going for a while

@@kurokaien18 I'm glad you got rid of it. The RLX is definitely a great replacement and so rare.
@@TkKalponi I never bought anything that was bad or modded, I walked away from all of them. And the one I bought, I had a pre-purchase inspection at a shop that tested it by their mechanic and I did a thorough inspection myself and test drive as well.
My type s has plenty of bolt on mods, suspension mods and hondata tune and runs great, never had any serious issues and been extremely reliable. Sounds like you were looking at dogged out ones that careless people owned. These cars seem to be hard to find taken care of and maintained.
Bought mine in '02 w/6 miles on it. Refuse to let it go as it just supersedes the other cars that are alongside it in the stable. Hard to believe it'll be 20 this year.
I got a one owner, bone stock, well maintained 04 with 160k for 4,000 back in 2020 before the prices skyrocketed on them

Got an 02 with 130,000 for 6000 last year. All maintenance was dealership but they never did the coolant flush or transmission flush for some reason LMFAO. Did the timing chain and tensioner + fluid flushes. Still need to put it on coilovers but it’s been great.
Pricing went up cause people starting to realize since 2016 k series motors are taking over the tune world so people are realizing how valuable the rsx k series motors has become
You can pick up a decent integra type r in the uk for around £10,000. You guys get ripped off

The first one was a k24 swapped rsx, if you notice it had the 2.4l engine cover, could just be a cover but I doubt it.. that engine has a lot of torque for a 2600 pound car
That AWD RSX was definitely a Platinum Lifetime Achievement.
Bought my type s in 2017 had 90k miles back then it was 4k its still a nice car I love it. Hondata and some bolt ons its super fun its crazy to see what they go for now.

Ex 05 Type S owner here, fully stock believe it or not, weight shift knob was the only mod... doesn't really count as a 'mod' nowadays. Running into this vid was funny as hell!!! And that 04 AWD is legit siiick!
16:20 The 05-06 Pontiac GTO has a factory wing with a brake light, but it also has the interior brake light that was on the 04. Super weird when I noticed it on my uncle's 06 a couple years ago.
The first black one shown in the video is currently for sale near me. It is K24A2 swapped from a 05 TSX. Planning on picking it up this weekend. I'll give an update if the car blows up in my ownership.

Here in Oregon, all of these for sale have like 200K+ miles and the type s models are way past $10K. Not sure if we are in a bubble in Oregon, but all the prices they talk about are jokes over here.
I went with a Celica GT-S instead because while not as nice, I think they look cooler and certainly more reliable. Paid out the ass for mine though, they are not cheap around here.

Stock everywhere except for the suspension (Energy Suspension urethane replacing the crappy rubber bits everywhere)
Been on mountains and down in canyons and both coasts
Still averaging 33 MPG on road trips

We got my wife's years ago for 5k with 105k miles. Base auto. Sun damage, needed new seat belts and brakes. Now it has almost 200k and have done- Alternator, brakes again, serp belt tensioner, starter, knock sensor. Not too bad
Yo it took me like a good 2 or 3 months of looking for this car in manual I finally got my own so if u out there feeling like giving up on finding this car in good condition and in manual don’t cuz I was about to give up on it but jus keep on hunting you’ll find one

love my type s, got it at 6k$ 118,000 miles and the price blew up XD
The RSX is great. I have a turbo RSX-S and daily '05 I got for $1650. Paint sucks and has salvage but had only 130,000kms r about 80,000miles. has about 154,000kms or about 91,000mile snow.

I been trying to get an EG hatch and I can’t find one under 10k a few years ago you used to be able to get a clean one for $400 I found a shell that was rear ended at one point still going for $4600

Well I feel extra dumb about a manual I saw in 2020 for $1500, I don't remember the mileage but the exterior and powertrain looked pretty good from what I saw in person and today I still wish I had bought it. Interior was stock and the backseat was worse than the front because it was a family car.

No front bumper, looks like its been tossed 6 times, primer paint as top coat (not lying), bonded title then other page a 30 yr old guy selling his b16 swapped ef hatch, fully built original, 4k, clean title. So its like you gotta search but its not as bad as the drift nissan tax bro

It’s really hard to find a good RSX. They’re super reliable so everyone beat the absolute shit out of them. Type S is the only way to go, K20A3 is a decent engine but K20A2 is pretty damn good.

Mine is pretty cool... Has about $30,000 in it.. I have had offers of $25,000 recently. Its AWD tho and boosted.. makes close to 650whp. Built motor and trans. Full Helical PPG gears and Quaife LSD. Its a 5 speed with long gears. Super enjoyable to drive. Garrett g25-660 Turbo. No BS on the body either nor is it slammed.. looks 100% stock on the outside with Aspec Lip kit and I was even able to retain my Honda Access Blue Ion fogs.

@@dyingforcertain I think what it comes down to is impatience and immaturity. I am the original owner of my Type S, and i bought the car at 16. I saved up, put down $4,000 and made payments til it was paid off!.. Unlike other dumb kids, I didnt rush to do anything and throw cheap parts on my car. I took my time, saved for the best of the best, and slowly built the car over many years. The car stayed pristine and classy at all times throughout the process. On top of the impatience causing them to put junk parts on their car, they also get pulled into these dumb trends. Things like slamming their car and cambering their car. All things that harm the car. Me, I couldnt bare to do these things because I paid for my own car out of my own pocket, and there was no way I was going to do ANYTHING to my car that hurt it! lol.. Thank god I was raised properly, taught the value of money and responsibility, and was educated on cars thanks to my father. It is so sad to see so many Type S's all messed up and treated like crap with terrible mods.
I'm not an RSX guy, but that AWD turbo one caught my eye. If it pans out in the in person look I think that would be worth what they're asking.

I have a clean 2006 base, it’s a 5 speed manual with 117k miles. Other than the new clutch and a shift knob, it’s all stock as fuck. No seat tears, with ice cold a/c, a super clean all black and leather interior. What’s it worth?

It would be miles easier to just get what the A3 needs.I'd buy all the cool stuff the A3 absolutely needs, pistons, rods, crankshaft etc. Shoot I'd maybe even keep the stock head if I was boosting it. There's guys all over the forums that have boosted stock head a3s that are being daily driven with like 340 wheel. 340 wheel in a gutted rsx is a fast car.
@4touchdowns1game29 but I could make 500 plus with a k24 😭 I have the motor in and the car drives amazing it took about 2 weeks to do the swap and it was really easy doing all that to a k20a3 to just make 300 is just kinda stupid and I just bought the k24 slapped some bolt ons and make like 250 all motor
@@Cozmicgrimm if you have everything then go for it. Just saying you can re use some of the A3 parts anyways with minor mods but the A3 I think is more than fine at that hp. A3s with the weak parts fixed and boosted is pretty simple and are known to run bulletproof. I was talking wheel horsepower so 340 wheel is actually about 410 HP at the crank. A mustang gt makes 380 for example at the wheel. Guys are running 11.2 ish quarter mile times with that setup. A new 10r mustang doesnt even do that. Just saying that going upwards of 400 wheel in a fwd car youre gonna hit diminishing returns in work and problems daily driving.
05 rsx type s k20z1 210hp basically k20a2 with type r cams and little higher rev limiter
Nah, no matter what, the dc5 needs a k24 swap.. K20's are no good for our chassis unless u are doing a dedicated track build. The K24 makes all the difference and the driveability is night and day with the added torque and power. Really, just find the cleanest shell or cheapest type s in general that has a clean body and chassis and just k24 swap it right away. That, and get a cheap base model 5-speed and throw in a LSD and carbon syncros and you are set.

any Type S under $10k is not worth buying.. On top of this, these cars are notorious for scamming and rollbacks.. People swap in wrong engine or internals, swap the trans components, ect.. But there are great finds out there but they wont be cheap. Ive had offers of $25,000 on my 06 Type S.. Its AWD and boosted making 650whp, with built motor and transmission. Chassis has 60k Original miles and is in mint condition. A lot of super rare OEM Honda Access and Aspec parts as well. These clean examples will only continue to go up in value, especially cuz Cali and other woke states are trying to ban all gas cars for EV.
