Well all story’s must come to an end, but for an end it was truly the best outcome to have.
Well, Sebastian made a valiant effort. With numerous medals for valour and a final tally of 33 victories, he can hold his head high. Very well done Taff.
The new Patch for Il2 has drastically improved the AI, they close to much closer ranges before opening fire and the results are lethal. Hopefully we will see a new career with the Normandy map, thanks for all your work.
Agree totally, they are deadly, the 190's particularly, one or two hits now and its game over!
Did indeed enjoy this series! Looking forward to the next one.
Just to clarify Sebastian von Dannenberg's Knight's Cross award:
The Luftwaffe operated a points system for decorations on the Western Front (not in the East). A light aircraft (usually a fighter) was worth 1 point. A medium aircraft (a medium bomber or transport) was worth 2 points, and a heavy aircraft (a 4-engined bomber) was worth 3 points - but only if the kill was made unaided. Otherwise, separating a medium bomber from its formation was worth 1 point, and separating a heavy bomber from its formation was worth 2 points. Finishing off a lone, damaged bomber was worth only 1 point.
A Knight's Cross was awarded after 40 points had been scored. So, von Dannenberg scored somewhere between 40 and 48 points, depending on how many of his bomber kills were made on previously undamaged bombers in formation, and how many by finishing off already damaged cripples.
Well flown and fought up to the end. Love your storytelling and looking forward to the next chapter.
For you Fritz, the war is over! This was a great series and a good outcome, I had grown quite attached to Sebastian, so am happy that he survived the war
I love the narrative you put onto these games. Thank you!
I wonder if you could use a lesser used aircraft for your next series? I always thought an Italian fighter could be fun. I love the C 202s…
Possibly in the future, i did a few missions in the C.202 which can do aerial combat and some light ground attack, the very next series will probably be on the Normandy map as its new and I havent fully explored it yet 🙂
@@TaffinExile : Don't bother - the Macchi C.202 is very poorly armed compared to the Me 109G, and you'll struggle to shoot down even enemy fighters in it.
Explanation:
The C.202 has 2 x 12 mm Breda-SAFAT heavy machine guns in the engine cowling, and 2 x 7.7 mm machine guns in the wings. But the 12.7 mm guns have a much lower rate of fire and much lower muzzle velocity compared to the 12.7 mm (0.5 in) guns in US fighters, so they're hopeless except at very close range.
@@TaffinExile mosquito or ar 234 playthough?
@@TaffinExile makes sense! Looking forward to it.
@@komandant_history Sorcerer Dave did a one off of the mosquito and stated why it would not make a good series
Great series....I enjoyed that. When is the new B17 out ....here's hoping its not long. Or have another series of the old one.
Dang! I almost can't believe my man "Sea-bass" is out of the action. 😱 He had great success in his time as a fighter pilot. I hope there is a chance for him to get back to his family.
A good outcome 👍he outlived the WW1 Scoundrel, Taffinsky and the Mighty Eighth under Taff's command 🤣
That was a humdinger of an ending! May Sebastian live a long life in peace. I've read accounts of collisions in aerial combat. Sadly, it happened fairly often.
In all these years, is Sebastian the first pilot to survive the campaign? I can't remember any others making it. Well done Taff on surviving!
Really enjoyed this series. Thanks Taff! Great narrative and flying skills
Looking forward to the next one!
what an amazing series, I loved the story telling. thank you Taff
Sad to see him go! I really enjoy the IL2 content although I know it takes you relatively longer to produce for a relatively limited audience.
Ur gunnery skills or lack there of always makes me feel better
These luftwaffe heroes are so interesting. Truly great men. Imagine going back in time and meeting them... I'd be lost for words.
Amazing story indeed! Can’t wait for the next one!
Great series Taff. Looking forward to the next one.
From what I remember, there are pilots shot down during WW2 who are **STILL** missing in action. Some of them in the manner that neither Axis nor Allied personnel ever discovered information about their fate.
Great series! Really enjoyed having a personal diary narrative with the action.
Thank you for an excellent campaign! well done! Looking forward to the next one!
Great series. Looking forward to what’s next.
That’s a Shame he is now a POW but what a lucky shot for the spitfire xiv pilot. So the next il-2 career typhoon over normandy or the mosquito night intruder.
Great little series, very enjoyable.
Nice one sir! At least Sebastian get's to survive the war. Look forward to the next series.
Pax
Great series, excellent story and video. Can we have a WW1 series next time?
SUPERB!!!!!
MORE OF THIS!!!!!!!
Can‘t wait for the next series to start
That probably couldn't have gone much better. At this point in the war, I think the life-expectancy for German pilots had gone into free-fall.
Thanks, great video.
Great video, great campaign.
Nice......can't wait for next
good for him to survive the war at the end
I thoroughly enjoyed it. Glad you survived, even as a POW.
Really must get back into this.
Well Done, thank you, see u soon
Very creative intro👍
Good run buddy
poor Sebastian just sat there on the ground waiting for capture
#13… unlucky for some. Battle of Normandy campaign next?
Lucky to survive !
Trying to engage a group of Spitfires in a turn fight isn't going to end well.
Ah, probably the safest place for good old Seb now, glad he bailed out over UK lines though rather than Russian! What about an American career over in Normandy?
I really enjoyed the story of Sebastian von Danningberg, but I wish we had seen the story of Sebastian von Dannenberg.
Poking fun at pronunciation aside, I'm looking forward to the next campaign! Maybe it'll be one over Normandy?
Nice ending to a career. Have you considered making a another one, in the new update "battle for normandy" ?
What about the Pacific theater for the next series? Is that possible in IL2? Keep up these series... I love watching them!
Well he had a good run, didn't he? Maybe a return to the airfields of WW1 next?
He had a great run - Knight's Cross and survived the war. Can't do better than that really.
Low yo-yo’s should help gain airspeed while maintaining aspect.
Good Hunt, but harder from day to day. Good to save in Pow. Horrido
Von Dannenburg has been the Luftwaffe's newest pilot for a damn long time, I know there are shortages but have they really been unable to source anyone since his enrolment lol?.
I suppose for Sebastion this was the best outcome.
If you're going to get shot down, that's the way to do it, especially if the end of the war is a foregone conclusion. At least it wasn't in Soviet controlled area.
British and Commonwealth treated their POWs the best...warm beer.
Survived the War in one piece, not captured by Soviet, a blessing.
I wonder what the next playtrough will be.
Sebastian survived and wasn’t captured by the Russians his war ended well
So Sebastian is a prisoner of war now? I gotta say, it could've been a worse ending for him.
i am hoping that at some point someone will finish the war alive and have gone thought al of it
Is there a way to reload ammo during a mission? Having fun with this game!
0:05 - It's "DON-nen-behrg," NOT "DAN-ning-birg."
Taff in exile, checking his 6 since... never
👍👍🏴
Just came to see if he still says "danningberg". Yep.
Well, the best ending in 1944, I guess. Taken prisoner by the Western Allies.
What a shame! This is my favorite aircraft together with the Dora! Though I didn't really understand why you went back after the wounded spit when you knew there were some enemies behind you.
Too much chat not enough lookee 😁✌️
Hey Taff the game uboat just got a new update with submarine pens
Watched this and thought oh yeah, I'll have a go on my guy. He died. 😭
First
Sebastian really needs to get back to farming - far safer!
