Awesome video. The Mask cartoon was pretty big here in Brazil, as it was on TV five days a week in a kids show, among other great shows from that era (Tiny Toons, Animaniacs etc). And the toys were pretty popular as well. I had the chance of checking out some of them, although never having one myself. Keep up the great work, man!

There’s a reason for that scene being omitted, they were planning to use her in the original proposed sequel in which she uses the mask and becomes well the next wearer, they did use the idea in the animated series when the movie was cancelled (until that crappy one was made years later). I know some would throw a hissy fit over the fact of a female Mask but they really should read the comics, anyone can wear the ancient mask.
I actually loved this movie when it came out, simply because it was weird and funny and my nephews liked it also when they were younger. In fact, my youngest nephew would always mimick the lines "SSSSmokin" and "Ssssomebody stop me!", making everyone laugh. I do remember the cartoon, however, I also thought it was too over the top, but the nephews watched it and loved it, they even had the action figures. I did know it was based off Dark Horse comic books and knew that the comic was dark and violent. As for a darker reboot, that would be cool. However, I have a feeling that a reboot of the Mask that is closer to the comics probably wouldn't go over well with those who are fans of the movie and never read the comics. Btw, The Song "Hey Pachuco" is one of my favorite songs, because it's Swing/Big Band.

I really hope that make a Mask remake and make it more violent. Maybe make similar to Deadpool. Make it funny and violent as hell, maybe even break the fourth wall a few times.

I love this video, but I've remembered me and my brother collecting the action figures of The Mask including Dorian Tyrell for the past 20 years and I have a few myself. I'm the biggest fan of the franchise. So I knew EVERYTHING. But you forgot to mention about Dr. Nueman wearing The Mask in The Mask Animated Series episode: Shrink Rap where he becomes a crazy lunatic and teams up with Pretorius.
Oh yeah i watched Shrink Rap as well and i thought it was pretty great as it teaches us how lucky the world is to have Stanley Ipkiss as the wearer and host of the mask, along with that it also had Ben Stein to voice Dr Neuman again along with voicing his masked self along with showing how different Masked Dr. Neuman is as he has traits of The Mask such as being polite and pulling wedgie straitjackets on anyone who he thinks has a disorder called Ipkissia Maskosis that is causing people to think the Mask is real, even though he is wearing it and actually does his job when the alarm on his watch goes off and decides to go to his appointment with Pretorius instead of wasting time and even when he agree to help him destroy Edge City out of a delusional and misguided sense of getting rid of the disorder once and for all, still went along with protocols as he went over to the police officer and demand to have him released into his custody instead of using his powers to create a hole to escape from and shows a sense of responsibility as he stays with Pretorius and reminds him that he is in his care instead of letting him go. Another thing i like about Masked Dr. Neuman is that even though he is scary and terrifying, he does have a sense of humour as he put Stanley in a bathtub to put him off guard and even when he's about to get rid of Stanley for good with electric wires calling it electric shock therapy, gets told by him that his zipper is open and check on it instead of ignoring it, showing how very gentlemanly and well-mannered he is, along with that he can be childish as well, as he rides on a child bicycle, a book and finally a pogo stick to transport around in and makes his voice high-pitched at times that though can make him more scary, can also make him adorable as well. Like The Mask, he does have his moments of being a cartoon character as he bounces his head on the pavement, pops his eyes out on springs a few times, stretches his neck up high and blow steam out of his ears literally, have stars circling around his head and after accidentally electrifying himself have his eyes and tongue come out at the same time before blowing up into fireworks.
Agreed %110 percent. The way they did her make up or who knows what in the movie but she did look amazing in this film and it has since never been captured before with her in roles since. Her car sex scene in that one movie was super odd with Javier Bardem.

In 1994 - I saw this movie at the show, and as soon as Cameron Diaz came on the screen, I thought…”This is a tremendous movie star in the making”. Felt the same way the first time I saw John Travolta when “Welcome Back, Kotter” premiered on TV. It’s just so much fun to see the beginning of the career of a superstar!! 💕
I absolutely love this movie! Jim Carrey and Cameron Diaz are such an amazing duo and couple! This movie is so much fun to watch. It’s incredible to watch over and over again. The yellow suit is designed as a "Zoot Suit", often associated with Swing music, especially in the 90's. As the scene in which he wears it is also a dancing scene featuring swing music, it fits the moment perfectly.

Yeah twice first Ace showed up in The Mask cartoon then The Mask showed up in the Ace Ventura cartoon and it directly continued where the first crossover left off

I remember the first time I saw this movie as a kid. And what really made me laugh the hardest are "Look Ma I'm roadkill" and the bit where his whole skull popped out of his head after he bolted up the massive doors only to find the entire police force waiting for him. Idano why but to this day the roadkill line and skull popping are just the funniest things in the whole movie to me
Although I don't remember the Jumanji cartoon, I can't even say I knew there was one, I completely remember The Mask cartoon. I was one of my favs along with Pinky and the Brain, Ren and Stimpy, Animaniacs, and Rocko's Modren Life, among others(I'm truly a full on 90's kid), which followed that weird cartoon concept, that incorporated child with adult humor. Love the videos btw, Its awesome to see a list about movies I loved as a child being showcased and appreciated.

I remember the Mask cartoon. I loved it and I had a mask action figure too. It was hilarious. I had to have watched the movie 200+ times as a kid on vhs.
Certified classic. I honestly think that this is Jim Carry's Magnum Ops when it comes to comedy. The lines, the way he became a living Stretch Armstrong and the use of CGI are used perfectly and sparingly. Also, I had a feeling when watching it as a kid when the redhead died cause she never reappeared after she betrayed Stanley. This is a little bit sad but she sold out her co-worker for money and she paid the piece with her life.
I was one of the few kids who loved everything about the mask as a kid. It was hard to find the figures but I had a couple as well as the green mask. I loved the animated series first then the movie so the mask, RoboCop, batman and superman were my favourite heroes.

I always thought Cameron Diaz looked good with a bit of weight on her. She's thicc in the right places in this. In movies where she's skinnier: I had no interest.
I also remember The Animates Series- very much enjoyed them as a child, and revisited a few episodes with friends at uni a few years ago. It's even better now, since I finally got to get, understand and enjoy the original, English-speaking version. As for Son of Mask, although I agree the movie is god awful, I loved every second of Alan Cumming in it! Not only that, but he was a great Loki here before Marvel even thought of doing anything with the character on screen.

I first watched this video earlier today and, not gonna lie, hearing about Peggy's death freaked me out a bit. Then several hours later, I really start to think about that scene (without hearing what went on in the whole deleted scene btw) and really started to scare me. (Because I only saw what was there in your video.) Then I looked it up and realised it's not so bad but it's still freaky and dark. Glad they took that out.
The reason Jim Carry was so successful was the fact he was the bridge between children and adults. I remember watching the mask and wading the “grown up parts” of Stanley Ipkiss’ life just to get to the cartoon toonish parts. Who else could take a movie about a bank heist, the mob, a hopeless romantic and him getting framed, and make kids interested in that story? Who else could take the idea of someone looking for pets and influence a slew of kids? Who else could take the idea of traveling across the country to return a briefcase one of the most enduring movies? Who made court fun? Or made the idea of getting cable a journey? He was the adult that spoke to children. And it was like taking a big kid and showing us what it’d be like if you would have come across something like that in everyday life.
It was decided in pre-production that the Dick Tracy color schemes would reflect the color palate available to Sunday newspaper color comics. It was definitely an interesting choice and outcome.

I was going to say that I think a lot of people associate the Mask with his yellow suit because of the animated series, same as Beetlejuice and his suit. And so its good you mentioned the animated series. But also, the people who never saw the animated series probably associate him with the yellow suit because that's what's on all the advertisements, covers and merchandise. I mean, pretty much every example in this video that isn't from the movie has him in the yellow suit.

Maybe this is the Mandela effect, but, as a child I saw this movie at the drive-in and the muggers on the street actually mugged Mr Ipkiss while he was still wet and had not yet used the mask. His watch was taken. This is why he got revenge on this group and why when Mrs Peenman asks "Do you know what time it is!?" Stanley answers "Actually, no". Does anyone else remember that?
I have four of the action figures, two of the dog and two of the Mask. Unfortunately they came from the thrift store in a plastic bag with their original containers. I love them anyway. Wish I could have found more. Thanks for the info. Love your work Minty💞

Cameron Diaz dancing scene is the reason you remember him wearing yellow. The reason she apeared to be less atractive after the mask is because the first version of hd came out after the mask which caused people to see what she really looks like but she was still pretty hot till about 2005 just aged fast i guess. I have the action figure with him wearing a dark blue suit and his dog with its removable mask.
Absolutely no one but Jim Carey could have done this movie. At that time, maybe Robin Williams could have done alright...I don't know. That role was just non-stop crackhead levels of cartoonish energy from start to finish. Carey is uniquely talented in that department.
In the comic the the MASK is a separate character that overwrites the wearer creating the same character no matter the wearer, in the movie the Mask merely amplifies the inherit characteristics of the wearer ramping them to 11 and greatly reducing inhibitions. However if you force it your original personality can come through. My opinion is both ideas have merit but for the movie they made the right choice with the Mask's power-sets.

Update: While making this video Minty Editor and producer Jack was found at the coco Bongo night club. While he doesn't remember how he got there, he does remember a wicked dance number featuring some green guy in a yellow suit.
I remember the first time I saw this movie as a kid. And what really made me laugh the hardest are "Look Ma I'm roadkill" and the bit where his whole skull popped out of his head after he bolted up the massive doors only to find the entire police force waiting for him. Idano why but to this day the roadkill line and skull popping are just the funniest things in the whole movie to me

Although I don't remember the Jumanji cartoon, I can't even say I knew there was one, I completely remember The Mask cartoon. I was one of my favs along with Pinky and the Brain, Ren and Stimpy, Animaniacs, and Rocko's Modren Life, among others(I'm truly a full on 90's kid), which followed that weird cartoon concept, that incorporated child with adult humor. Love the videos btw, Its awesome to see a list about movies I loved as a child being showcased and appreciated.

Certified classic. I honestly think that this is Jim Carry's Magnum Ops when it comes to comedy. The lines, the way he became a living Stretch Armstrong and the use of CGI are used perfectly and sparingly.
Also, I had a feeling when watching it as a kid when the redhead died cause she never reappeared after she betrayed Stanley. This is a little bit sad but she sold out her co-worker for money and she paid the piece with her life.

I was one of the few kids who loved everything about the mask as a kid. It was hard to find the figures but I had a couple as well as the green mask. I loved the animated series first then the movie so the mask, RoboCop, batman and superman were my favourite heroes.

I also remember The Animates Series- very much enjoyed them as a child, and revisited a few episodes with friends at uni a few years ago. It's even better now, since I finally got to get, understand and enjoy the original, English-speaking version.
As for Son of Mask, although I agree the movie is god awful, I loved every second of Alan Cumming in it! Not only that, but he was a great Loki here before Marvel even thought of doing anything with the character on screen.

Bryce Mckenzie Honestly doubt they would go that route for a Mask 2. Especially if Jim returns to be Stanley Ipkiss again. That'd be great as a reboot or maybe a fan made series but doubt it'd happen for a direct sequel.

I first watched this video earlier today and, not gonna lie, hearing about Peggy's death freaked me out a bit. Then several hours later, I really start to think about that scene (without hearing what went on in the whole deleted scene btw) and really started to scare me. (Because I only saw what was there in your video.) Then I looked it up and realised it's not so bad but it's still freaky and dark. Glad they took that out.

The reason Jim Carry was so successful was the fact he was the bridge between children and adults.
I remember watching the mask and wading the “grown up parts” of Stanley Ipkiss’ life just to get to the cartoon toonish parts.
Who else could take a movie about a bank heist, the mob, a hopeless romantic and him getting framed, and make kids interested in that story?
Who else could take the idea of someone looking for pets and influence a slew of kids?
Who else could take the idea of traveling across the country to return a briefcase one of the most enduring movies?
Who made court fun? Or made the idea of getting cable a journey?
He was the adult that spoke to children. And it was like taking a big kid and showing us what it’d be like if you would have come across something like that in everyday life.

I pulled up some clips and Warren wore a yellow trench coat and Fedora over a dark colored suit.
It was decided in pre-production that the Dick Tracy color schemes would reflect the color palate available to Sunday newspaper color comics. It was definitely an interesting choice and outcome.
Dick Tracy wears a trenchcoat over a regular suit while the Mask wears a zoot suit.

I was going to say that I think a lot of people associate the Mask with his yellow suit because of the animated series, same as Beetlejuice and his suit. And so its good you mentioned the animated series. But also, the people who never saw the animated series probably associate him with the yellow suit because that's what's on all the advertisements, covers and merchandise. I mean, pretty much every example in this video that isn't from the movie has him in the yellow suit.

Cameron Diaz dancing scene is the reason you remember him wearing yellow. The reason she apeared to be less atractive after the mask is because the first version of hd came out after the mask which caused people to see what she really looks like but she was still pretty hot till about 2005 just aged fast i guess. I have the action figure with him wearing a dark blue suit and his dog with its removable mask.
Today I got the mask action figure. It is the one in the yellow suilt that comes with his dog.

Absolutely no one but Jim Carey could have done this movie. At that time, maybe Robin Williams could have done alright...I don't know. That role was just non-stop crackhead levels of cartoonish energy from start to finish. Carey is uniquely talented in that department.

In the comic the the MASK is a separate character that overwrites the wearer creating the same character no matter the wearer, in the movie the Mask merely amplifies the inherit characteristics of the wearer ramping them to 11 and greatly reducing inhibitions. However if you force it your original personality can come through. My opinion is both ideas have merit but for the movie they made the right choice with the Mask's power-sets.
Now that I think about it the Mask in the comics sounds like an even more terrifying version of Venom
