- Howard and George again in 1991 at the Vine Street Bar and Grill in Hollywood-from the pilot for Charles Champlin's proposed series "Jazz Generations". With Dave Stone on bass and the great Jake Hanna on drums-some nice close ups of Jake's exquisite brush work.
Dave Stone- probably the most down to earth, nicest jazz master I have ever met. Same with Howard. Just stellar people. Miss then in Sacramento at the old Jubilee...
Love Jake Hanna's work. His Concord Jazz Festival gig with Herb Ellis, Joe Pass, and Ray Brown recording should be in every guitar player's library.
underrated and underappreciated genius on percussion. PERFECT timekeeper.
Love this! Great Guitar playing with plenty of swing!
I enjoy watching the Drummer’s hands with those brushes
Amazing video Howard!! I've been a long time fan of both of you. This is outstanding playing. Thanks.
Howard and Jake- two thirds of the GREATEST trio I have ever seen perform live- a trio with Harry Allen, Jake and Howard- a late night gig at the top of the Holiday Inn in Sacramento at the Jubilee, maybe 2009 or thereabouts. One hour of absolute smoking jazz, as tight as could be, nonstop, moving from one tune to another with absolute perfection and fire. I think I asked Harry or Howard why they never recorded together in a trio because they were so tight and in sync with each other. Howard and Peps have many recordings together, but not Howard and Harry,. Just bad timing for recording studio I can only presume.
Love the tones of their guitars.
How this swings! So great!! Love it!
Thank you so much for posting this Howard.
Truly excellent . Just so sad that the most wonderful Jake has so recently passed away. R.I.P Jake and George

Mr. Alden., always wonderful to see you play. Many years ago I had the pleasure of seeing you play and meeting you. By way of my father who was President of the Flint banjo club, in Michigan. How’s that for going back in time! Lol!

George is playing his Gretsch George Van Eps model 7 string from the late '60s, and I was playing Gibson Howard Roberts Artist model, made in the late '70s.
I miss this great 'Vine Street Bar and Grill' jazz spot from a few moons ago & Yes, Jake's exquisite brushwork...
