Most of the Hydra's damage is from poison. It's so extreme that even with high poison resistance, several thousand HP can get depleted within mere seconds. NPCs with immunity to poison, such as undead, are usually the only ones able to withstand this.
The Hydra has several poison effects, including damage over time from bites, the poison breath, and a permanent cloak-like poison effect that surrounds the beast. At least one of them can also deplete magicka, which is why the Ebony Warrior wasn't able to use his spells as much as he usually would.

Seeing the Ebony Warrior get bodied like that is cathartic in a way. The three priest band and Karstaag are in their own league apparently

The Dragon Priests and Karstaag won because they're immune to poison. If they had anything less than 80-90% poison resistance, they would not make it either

Terrific video idea. Im not interested in most modded videos. But i think the hydra is such a great design and i look forward to seeing how the ebony warrior matches ups.

The Karstaag round was one of the coolest matches I've witnessed!
I'm surprised the dragon priest trio did so much better than The Ebony Warrior, Miraak, and Harkon.
They have poison immunity, which makes all the difference, and Ahzidal and Dukaan can hit multiple targets at once with their spells, which is also a huge benefit.
Harkon is immune to poison too, but lacks the damage to fight the Hydra efficiently after his allies are gone 😄

3. Absolutely! A lot of people seem to think that their staves are better than their usual spells, but from my experience, they're only handy in few situations

Man i love these videos so much i wish they were longer but i know it takes alot of time and effort to make one of these also have u thought of doing group battles instead of one on one fights like say the college of winter hold vs the companions or the dwemer vs the falmer idk i think that would be very cool but i bet it would be hard and might cause some issues but anyway keep up the good work can't wait to see what u upload next❤

@@hillzone1096 Yeah, I replied before going to bed. 😂 Ah I see! I'm not a fan of big group battles for many reasons. 😅 The setups are difficult, the results inconsistent, technical issues are huge, and I'm not that interested in those battles to begin with 😂

I could totally see a Hydra in Elder Scrolls Online as a boss fight.
I have never played it, but I think it would fit well into the Elder Scrolls universe! 😎
Would be cool to see some Anniversary edition exclusive enemies. Two that immediately come to mind are the "Web Mother" from "The Contest" during "Caught in a Web" and "The Sky Orchestrator" from "Forgotten Seasons". Web Mother is a level 100 Frostbite Spider with a devastating unique exploding shock spider attack and The Sky Orchestrator is a massive level 75 Dwarven Spider and wields powerful shock, frost and fire magic.
There's other cool enemies, which are weak due to low level caps like "The Messenger" (caps at 40), which is slightly stronger than a normal dwarven centurion and has a lightning breath attack.
I only have the basic creations that came with the free update. Do any of those NPCs exist in them? 😅
I'm guessing the dragon priests won because they had immunity to poison? Also I really liked the grouping of opponents on this one. Side note I don't think I've seen you use all 3 keepers together before.

Also he did use all 3 Keepers in a previous episode.
Thanks! Yeah, immunity to poison is the only really effective way to deal with the Hydra. Aside from using like 5 Ebony Warriors at once. 😂

Also have you considered using the unique reaver Merilar Rendas? She fights in a unique way in using the spider scrolls (also you can give her other spider scrolls (except the Mind control one) and she will use them)
The spider scrolls (SPECIALLY the Cloaked spiders) deal massive dmg and multiple spiders will stack the dmg very fast and exploding ones deal high dmg (deadlier than the spell Fireball!)

I have made and scheduled an episode where Merilar appears in one round (not uploaded yet), and I'm planning on making a dedicated episode to her sometime too. I found that her cloaked spiders also do damage to herself upon exploding, so that might get a bit weird. 😂
Any specific ideas for opponents to put against her?
@@lSlendermasterIldaril Sarothil, Arch Pyromancer/Cryomancer/Electromancer, Elder/Ancient Dragon, Giant, Karstaag (but give her 6+ Froat Cloak spiders as backup)
@@thatskeletordude5271 Umm, I'm very confident that she wouldn't be able to handle any of those except for the Giant. 😅 I've put her against a Giant Frostbite Spider and she struggled.
She also doesn't have a level cap which makes things hard to balance, and I don't just want to push her to level 250 or so
My lvl 100 warrior struggled to kill the Hydra, not even %1000 regen health can deal with the poison (since the Hydra's poison cloak stacks rapidly)
But my lvl 42 mage managed to beat it, all thanks to the summon Wrathman who is tanky and cannot die from poison but still took ages to make a dent to its health.
Oh wow, I totally understand the struggle. 😂 The Hydra's health regeneration is nasty too if you try to take it slow

Okay, let me see if I got this straight (you dont have to read, this comment is long). The strongest thing in skyrim is karstaag, but the strongest human is the ebony warrior. The strongest human (that isn't huge) is thoron, and the strongest dragon is between the legendary dragon and alduin (alduin only being up here because hax). The strongest non unique, non dragon is a lurker vindicator, with a foresworn briarheart being the strongest non-unique human (unless they do bad against a nightlord, I didnt see that fight). Do i have it more or less right? (Great vid btw)
No worries, I read all the comments! Rankings are generally a bit subjective, but here's my personal take.
The strongest thing is definitely Karstaag, no doubt, and the strongest human is the Ebony Warrior. The best human that's normal-sized is either Miraak or Thoron. I suspect that Miraak with his battle script beats Thoron who also has his script. The same goes if neither have their script. Thoron would probably only win consistently if he has his script but Miraak doesn't. I'll need to test this at some point, but it's going to be difficult.
General Falx Carius is also someone to consider; he should be comparable to Thoron, but melee vs. mage is hard to compare anyway.
The strongest dragon is a frost-type Legendary Dragon, who has the highest damage of all dragons, and also the most HP (tied with the fire-type Legendary Dragon).
As for the strongest non-unique non-dragon, I also can't think of anything more powerful than a Lurker Vindicator. The best non-unique human should be a Forsworn Briarheart, yes. He can lose against Nightlord/Nightmasters, but he wins more often than he loses.
All of that assumes vanilla mechanics and adept difficulty, and doesn't consider any lore, but actual combat. Except for Thoron, I have tested all of those NPCs in various ways throughout the past couple years. Thoron is relatively new for me because I haven't updated to AE until this year.
So overall, you were right about most things! And thanks! 😁
@@lSlendermaster thanks! I didn't realize frost dragons were stronger than frost, I kinda figured that having health would be more important than having stamina, but it checks out because frost things are just on another level in skyrim.
@@imbbgamer1012 Legendary dragons are unique in that sense because they're the only dragons that do more dragons with frost than with fire. 😄
To be a bit more specific, fire breath attacks of all dragons do some damage over time which makes them slightly better than the frost counterparts. However, the frost Legendary Dragon has a higher base damage than the fire version, ultimately leading to a higher final damage output.
The damage to stamina is just another factor that also benefits frost-type dragons, but then again, a lot of NPCs in Skyrim have frost resistance, so a fire dragon might still do better in many situations 😄
Technically speaking, the strongest human in Skyrim is Brynjolf. Characters like Ebony Warrior and Miraak are humanoids/superhuman beings.

So poison immunity is a key to defeat that thing. Which means a group of nightmaster vampires or draugr death overlords would make a trick!
Yes, easily! I've tried that in a few tests and they murdered the Hydra 😆 Although physical damage alone is difficult, because the Hydra regenerates very quickly, which can be disabled through damage over time
Didn't know dragon priests were this powerful because I smack them down with just 3-4 melee blows. But bandit leaders are a pain... 2 hits with their 2-h and I'm dead.
It depends a lot on the specifics, like resistances against physical damage, magic, or poison. Most of the Hydra's damage is just poison, so Dragon Priests do well against that 😄

Idk if you've done this but a fun one i've done is who can survive the last section of dustmans cairn at the highest level XD That dungeon can get crazy at level 46+

I've done a similar thing in Dustman's Cairn, but with my own selection of opponents. 😅 It's definitely a good idea to try out though! I'm not sure if I can make the draugr spawn at the highest possible level though 🤔

I agree, although I personally would nerf the poison and buff the melee damage. And yes, they are immune! Not their Seekers though 😂

I've looked into those a while ago, but they have a ton of requirements that I don't want to install along 😅

Nope, the Seekers only have shock resistance. Even Lurkers aren't immune to poison 😂
