Farida Hundekari has seen it all: becoming a single parent, setting up a business from scratch and then battling a life-threatening illness. But she managed to face everything with a smiling face and an indomitable spirit. This is her story.
“In 2018, I decided I wanted to gift myself a six-pack. I was a single mom who was raising a family by herself while also running a business.
But life had other plans. A routine checkup led to a terrible diagnosis: Stage 4 cancer!
I still remember the moment I was sitting before the doctor as he said my chance of survival was a mere 15%. My thoughts immediately went to my kids and parents. Who would take care of them if I was gone?
But they turned out to be my biggest champions. Through 9 rounds of chemo, they held my hand and gave me strength.
But the real battle - the one for regaining my health - was still waiting to be fought.”
