If you are watching this before May 15th make sure to check out Monster Tribe's Kickstarter Campaign! Would mean the world to us if you backed our project! www.kickstarter.com/projects/reecegeofroy/monster-tribe
Sometimes it gets demotivating if you look at the progress you make daily, as the changes can be very small, but once you look at what you have made in one single year, that's when you truly see how incredibly much you actually did. Keep up the good work, Reece!
i still cant believe its been a year, i still remember when you published your first monster tribe video, you just popped up in my recommended out of the blue, i just clicked on it since i am a big fan of Pokemon, and recently started getting into game development. i am sure to buy the game as soon as possible when it comes out. cheers to a year of development.
OMG! First of all, you just hearted my comment while I was watching this video and now I see you are a BIG NINTENDO FAN?!?!?!?! YOU JUST BECAME 200% MORE EPIC!!!
Im a new subscriber from the Netherlands and seeing your story from Being a little Game designer to Indie devolper whos getting his game on the switch is so heartwarming. Your Lucky i have the switch cus im gonna buy it on release date! Ik hoop dat het goed gaat! (That is dutch for: I hope it's going great!)
Woah the progress you've made on this is massive - well done :D I'm really excited for the game!! Also, congrats on getting fully backed on the Kickstarter :))
You've really gone through an a great journey in this last year. I really liked some of the early ideas for the art styles but I think the current one looks the best.
This video is really tightly edited (as normal), super entertaining (as normal), and I LOVE IT! (as normal) Again sad I couldn’t support Kickstarter, but I’ll support you in anyway I can, just need you to know and have that printed in your brain more prominently than the Psychonauts logo, ok? ok. Love youuu :)
Honestly an inspiration. Been making my game for 6 years now, and I love this kind of inspiration. Next game I aim for the same thing you mentioned: I can't imagine how awesome it'd be to have a game published on a Nintendo console!
I'm in love with this game and i want to play it so bad hahaha. I would definitely help on kickstarter but the dollar value in my country is very high so I'll have to wait for the full release. Anyway, I'm looking forward to play this game and i can even say it has the potential to be one of my favorites indie games. Keep the good work :D
I'd like to ask what canvas size should i use if I'm trying to make a background in pixel art or what canvas sizes should I use for multiple things like the background, the characters, details all of that because I'm struggling at the moment with canvas sizes
Hmm I base most of my assets in a 16x16, but again if you are making something like a house try to use multiple 16x16 blocks to build out your vision. For backgrounds personally I find 160x90 to work for me, as I like all my work to be scalable in a 1080p resolution 👍
I personally like the pixel stacking style, but I know it makes some people feel sick. Personally if I could make a game and was to use pixel stackijng, I'd probably make a Zelda-like with 90dergee rotations rather than a free camera.
The Alpha Test will be releasing in June. We will be sending over a Kickstarter Update after the Kickstarter comes to an end to announce to all of our backers! :)
I'm learning both programming and game development as I follow some tutorials. Do you have any advice for people in my situation ? I don't have a background in coding btw.
Focus on what makes your project different. Is it a unique game mechanic people would be drawn in to play? Is it an artstyle that hasn't been over used? Find what makes your project it's OWN experience outside of the thousands of other titles out there and hone in! I know this isn't revolutionary advice, but it definitely got me to focus on what I need to focus on... originality 🙂

@@ReeceGeofroy haha dwdw
The evolution of the art style is so cool, would be interesting to think what the game could have looked like if you didn't change to 2D.
Haha yeah I definitely want to try sprite stacking again in the future 😅
I actually never watched your vids although they were in my recommend. And I'm happy I clicked on one of them ;D
Yessss glad you liked it Smab 😍

@@ReeceGeofroy woah already! thank you for the heart and reply!
Smart of you to start, finish and actually launch a smaller project first and then to make this dream one
Yep! I've launched to small projects with a bunch of prototyping when I was doing game dev as a hobby 🙂
