The Ally X has been my go to for when I am traveling. Much smaller and easier to fit in a small backpack on a plane, even in a case. But when I am lounging around the house I always grab the Legion Go. The big screen is amazing.
Legion display is what makes the major difference in why this handheld is the best hands down, 7inch compared to 8.8 is no contest. Looking forward to Legion 2 while I'm still enjoying my Legion since Launch.
@@ItsOleg It looks absolutely excellent. I fired up supposedly simple indie game like The Swords of Ditto or Stardew Valley and was so amazed at how well they looked on that screen, it's like an HD remaster of those games. On my Ally they look tiny and washed-out in comparison.
I’m currently in the process of selling my Legion Go so I can get an Ally X. I’m having a hard time with the Legion Go. Better dies WAAAYYY too fast, when I dock it to a TV for whatever reason, performance is not as good as it is in handheld, the weight of the damn thing makes my hands go numb after 20 minutes into a game session, the speakers sound like shit, and the design of the Legion Go is not ergonomic at all. Those sharp edges on the controller is irritating. So yeah, it just doesn’t feel like a finished product. The Ally has better battery, better ergonomics, 24GB of ram as opposed to the 16GB of RAM, it will keep good performance docked or undocked, yeah the screens smaller but it’s still good as shit. I can live with it. So idk man, that’s where I’m at. Grabbing me an Ally X and call it a day.
did exactly that, I also don't think Lenovo is as good as Asus idk, they made way more laptops I think? Asus has a Rog gaming line they know their shit it's an amazing company it's where I bought all my laptops for gaming too and never had issues. I'm sure they make a big version one day but tbh portable is portable desktop is desktop so even though I'd love a 8.8 I think maybe 8 inch or 7.5 max and that's it, it will become so irritating to use if it's bigger. I think the only way this can work is maybe having fixed controller or at least more ergonomic.
@@MackDaddyVic ally X way to go 😎 I gave legion another try and loved the screen it gave me so much space especially at the top, WoW is narrow on ally X but man I love my ally, I got really used to the crisp screen it hits different with VRR and the smaller size is so good, you can just reach stuff better it feels more natural to hold even though the legion grip itself felt more comfortable but you can get cases and grips for ally that's my take, 7 inch and one piece of device instead of detachable controller is where it's at, it's why no other company does that format other than some smaller ones try 8 inch but for regular gaming especially if you already have a big screen at home it's the best. gaming in bed is nice but not healthy when you never sit at a desk cause you can avoid it with the legion go.
Sorry homie, I have both and my Ally X is my go to. I agree that the screen size is noticeable, but the battery life on the X is blowing everything away right now. If I have to choose between screen size or battery life, I'll take playing for longer.
I also have both, and it all depends on your use case - if you're buying a handheld to mostly play outside, during commute or flight - yep, Ally X, no competition. But if you're buying a handheld to chill on the bed or living room sofa? The Go blows the Ally out of the water with its big vibrant screen.
@@jacobpino2756didn’t not that extra 8gb of RAM, VRR screen, way better buttons & portability than Legion Go and of course the better battery life is minor. The only advantage Legion go is the bigger screen, other than that it is still inferior to the Ally X and Steam Deck.
I just got my Ally X and I love it but you are forgetting the most important thing. The Ally X is 1464$ CAD with a 2 year warranty, the Legion Go with 2 year warranty is 997$ CAD (prices from Best Buy). Now is the extra Ram, Extra Storage, Extra battery, VRR, better software, etc worth the extra 500$ dollars? I think it’s worth it if you can afford it.
The 1600p screen makes a huge difference if you are streaming games from GeForce Now or using something like Moonlight to stream from your PC. This is where having the higher resolution and refresh rate really shines. People overlook that a lot.
I’ve been a legion go user for almost 6 months and it has been my everyday use device. I have a ps5 and never had a pc. My experience with the legion go is a great pc experience. There’s games that I bought in ps5 that I decided to buy on my legion go and man the difference in playing in a tv and playing in your hands is almost night and day. Idk what it is but ever since this recent update the power saving mode has been able to run Fortnite at 40-50 fps while getting 2 and a half hours of play time. Might not be running at its absolute best but it is playable to where it’s almost like going from ps5 to ps4 to play Fortnite. Idk these are my personal experiences and I’d get behind the ally X but idk how I’d be able to adjust such a small screen. Remember these devices are good for you depending on what your everyday life looks like.
Thanks for sharing. Similar situation as mine and I'm a sucker for big handheld screen. Am torn to choose between newest ROG Ally X and Legion Go. My concern is mostly battery life and storage but mostly playing at home rather than head out and bring it along. Would it be good if I land on 512gb LG and use the sd card storage for games?
@@zergothikaify absolutely! Honestly the storage is all based on you. If you like to play a different variety of games at the same time OR if you are using it for work also then I’d definitely invest in the 1TB. But if you plan on playing only a couple of games at a time and you plan on using legion go for just gaming you can always uninstall the game and redownload it if you want to play a specific game again but if that’s too inconvenient then definitely the 1TB👍
I had the Rog Ally and bought the Legion Go and then sold my Ally. The screen size is the best advantage. I will never get a handheld with less than 8 inches.
Thanks for the update, I still am not sure what handheld I will be getting. I feel like right now isn't the best time but I am also on a desktop and happily gaming.
Did the same thing. The extra ram doesn’t mean anything on the same gpu. But with the legion, the outstanding premium buttons and sticks, the larger size, and the bigger screen all have a huge impact for me. It’s like getting a 150 dollar controller vs a 35 dollar powera controller, no competition there. They do appear to be following through on software, but just doing it too slow for the market.
While I can agree both handhelds are amazing and we should respect everyone’s decision. I’m happy that you are able to enjoy the Legion go to the fullest and it’s your handhelds of choice 🙏💕.
I love, love, LOVE my Legion Go. That screen is simply sublime. I wish it had the Ally X's software and battery life, but these are drawbacks I can definitely live with, as both have workarounds via 3rd party apps and battery packs.
Great video !!! Just ordered the legion go on sale at best buy! Pumped to get it! Been getting more into pc gaming and I love handheld especially with this screen ratio!!!
It’s interesting that you prefer the Legion Go to the ROG Ally X. It’s cool that you have detachable controls and can tilt the screen to play old school vertical shooters on MAME for example, but even as an LLG user, the Ally X edges it because modern AAA games work better with it. It also has better battery. Anyway, I’m waiting patiently for the Lenovo Legion Go 2.
I originally opted for the Ally X and purchased from Best Buy, returned it due to the triggers being wobbly and squeaking..I replaced it 3 times over a couple weeks and had similar issues on all three models.. Not to mention the screens had pretty significant “light bleed” when viewing darker media. The Build Quality is very poor on the Ally X. 800+ dollar should buy you much more then The x offers. Decided I would give the legion Go a try and the build Quality is unmatched, the screen is best in class and it just feels quality.
If you want to pull up the keyboard you can also press that setting option on the right side and it’s the 4th option that should display system quick settings
added a bluetooth keyboard and mouse to mine, and a webcam to use whatsapp, I love this thing, i 3D printed a Dock, and it holds the usbc adapter and battery pack
I had the opportunity with the ally z1 and gave it to my nephew and I love it and I also love the legion big screen, which I currently have. Love them both. Both are powerful in my eyes
Steam Deck is king for Indy and lower wattage (older) 3D games and some emulation, that being said, I have a Go and it's a great device with some tweaks, I've gotten into heavily modded Skyrim again and playing it on a handheld device is awesome. It's even more fun docked to my T.V. like a Switch. I even have a dock setup in my home office so it gets used as a desktop PC occasionally.
Performance is the same. The ally x and legion are literally using the exact same z1 extreme. The only way you would get less performance on the go is if you try to play games on the higher resolution screen.2k vs 1080p in the ally x.
@@justswitched8841I have both and performance is not quite the same. What throws the Go off is the weird resolution and portrait orientation. Having to play everything at 800p, in a sense, negates the big screen cause you’re constantly playing at half the native resolution. You literally need lossless scaling for the go to reach its full potential.
@@lorenzothomas2612 this! thanks for the comment. i was looking for some truth here. this video is basic screen size > specs. ally x has way more ram (stability) and a way better battery.
I think a lot of people who read the title to this video are going to think it's a hot take to take the Legion Go over the Ally X, but I agree with you basically across the board. Legion Go's screen is amazing and you can do anything with the device. Speakers suck on the Legion Go out of the box (like omfg terribly bad), but tweaking the EQ settings make it almost as good as the Ally's. LegionSpace also sucks - Armory crate beats it all day. Overall, switching from my Ally Z1 to the Legion Go was a great decision tho - no regrets.
Yup you nailed it, the ally x is gonna be the clear choice for most people but the legion after some tweaking is really good. And I wish Lenovo could take some notes from Asus and improve their software
Using SD, OG ALLY and Legion GO. they Only Handheld I am picking up these days when I am out is ROG Ally X. I just works anytime I want it unlike Legion GO that get stuck somewhere and have to reboot also when I put it into stand by mode I found to to be randomly drained the battery. Lenovo needs to support their hardware better.
Had the same issues as you with squeaky triggers and dpad, wall on both thumb sticks, and creaking body.. was annoying enough for me to return it lol Thanks for your video! Might pick up a legion Go.
Picked up a used LeGo a couple weeks ago, its a great device, do like the build quality. Powerbank for those times you need some extra run time, its not so bad. Cant imagine trying to use windows on a smaller screen anyway, and workin out to about half the cost of new AllyX, not much to complain about really😀
This is so funny, i truly notice the same trend about the Legion Go, the funniest thing is, it has been released for so long and people are noticing it more now!! I wonder if it's because Lenovo didnt spend much on building the marketing and hype around it, but damn well done Lenovo!!
Yep, having the bigger screen would be great. The resolution won't help at all, since most games are playing in 720/800/1080 - higher Rez will make it more blurry. I sold my Ally X too, the tiny screen, and speakers that were worse than the OG ally was the reason. I'm waiting to see what the Switch 2, or Ally 2 with Z2, is going to be like. Both are rumored to have 8" screens.
Battery life should be 4 hours minimum with screen at full brightness. Simply because you might only play a game for 20-40 minutes after doing that 2-3 times needing a charge is actually acceptable but if you play for an hour and it’s dead. That’s a no go
I just bought one for $750 canadian. The ally is $600. The ally x is $1100 and it's black friday. The go comes with the nice case, better screen. 350 less for a little bit more minus the battery and 8 gig of ram. I got mine from lenovo site and got 66 dollars in reward money which i put towards the screen protector and a skin because i dont want a greasy controller after lots of use. I look forward to messing around with it.
Damn Canadian prices are wild I scored a go 1tb for 499$ but returned it for a new x for 700$. Careful with the go controllers my right joy on bumper buttons just stopped working out the blue after a week it's a pretty well known issue too. Go screen is big and pretty but it's not the most comfortable handheld either
@gcforreal well our dollar sucks at the moment. 1 cad = .71 usd lol. The price is essentially the same. Plus 13% tax. Legion go is 900 normally so still a 200 dollar difference or 142.53 usd difference. Our economy is shit at the moment.
IMO if you just want to game as a console the ROG Ally is better. But for everything else, specially if you want it as a portable PC or to watch content is not even close. Main reason why I chose the LEGO.
I return the Go during the return window on release.. I didn't think the gpu could handle the screen and the sound sucked and the controllers were a bit chunky (And I have big hands).. I had an issue with wobbly controllers but Lenovo did send some out. I got a OG Ally and have been using it for about a year and find it to be a better handheld overall... but... I am finding the screen too small for productivity and now that the Go has come down in price my interest has been poked... With the new gen of Go's coming out I am trying to hold out to see if the battery performance has been improved.
I went ally to go to ally x ...the screen while bigabd vibrant...people forget it's a handheld if you want a huge screen at some point just desktop ..console or laptop game ..the go is unwieldy and can't run games at its natively res unless it's an older title ...the comfort... performance..ergonocs and vrr makes up for a smaller display in my opinion
@@gcforreal why would I want to game on a desktop or a laptop, because I prefer an 8 inch screen? I had a rog ally and the screen was too small for me to enjoy the games I played.
I went from a Steam Deck to Legion Go and then to the OG Ally. OH.. How I miss that 8.8-inch Legion Go screen. You can do a lot of things to up your experience on the Ally, steam deck, and Legion Go. From installing windows on the steam deck or steamOS on both Ally and Legion Go with Bazzite. To extending your play time with a powerbank or even up the battery size with the Ally X or even a bigger battery mod for the OG ally. The only thing you can't do on the Ally and Steam Deck is giving us that 8.8-inch screen experience.
FINALLY SOMEONE FEELING WHAT I FELT, dude i love me ally but why these small burdens... i ended up destroying the ribbon cable for the M function buttons from how many times i opened it. although i did find a fix for the joystick wiggling like you said (hitting a wall) where i would stuff the joystick inside with a thin sticker from the sides, and now with tight fit it's perfect.
@@ItsOleg but trust me just dont unscrew the trigger or anything just the back screws and dont even remove the ribbon holding the back just tilt a little bit just so it’s open and put keyboard lube everywhere on the metal piece inside the trigger… you will feel the superior relief believe me
I had a Rog Ally but the sdcard slot was dead from day 1 and Asus's customer support was useless so I ended up selling it. That is the reason I won't buy an Ally X but looking at the Legion go, that large screen looks very tempting!
Well I'm saying goodbye to my legion go. I just got a Rog ally Z1 extreme and after using the ally for a few days it seems way smoother in FPS games due to vrr I guess. Also the controllers on the ally feel a lot better than the legion go. Kind of sad as I do like the screen on the legion go but Rog ally for me now 😊
Alot of people saying battery life blah blah blah. For me i didnt buy this to lower graphic settings so i can prolonged my battery life. I usually play full power plugged in full fan speed 30 watts full TDP and i am never using this just to lower the quality of the game NBA 2k25 runs very smooth The Division Seires, Ghost recon breakpoint also runs smooth with full power. Throne and Liberty, Wuthering Waves, Ragnarok all run smoothly.
You can have legion space boot on startup always, it’s an option, but most people keep it turned off because since you’re able to reprogram your controller buttons through legion space, if you have legion space open while you have a game open, it will cause the game to start acting weird. But if you want it to boot up everytime it is a setting if you like legion space. I prefer to launch my games through steam/battlenet/xbox and only use legion space for updates. Your device your decision tho 🙏
I was in Best Buy yesterday confused whether to get an Ally X or Legion Go. I love the LeGo's display I was so close in getting it but at the end of the day I value battery life and the smaller 7" display will look sharper at lower resolutions and consume less juice. The Ally X is also smaller which is better to use on the go. I may get the Legion Go 2 if it has an 80Wh battery if not more.
Version 2 of Legion Go, when? Just need more RAM, a full 2280 slot, more battery, quieter fans, a native landscape screen, VRR, and improved ergonomics. 👀🙏❤️
Had the deck ally og, legion go and just got the ally x. Sold the rest and kept the ally x. The legion go for screen size yes. For everything else the ally x. battery life, vrr screen and more ram make the ally x the best handheld between them all.
i will say both Go and X all have their problems. the Ally (both OG and X) have been manisfested with harware issues, meanwhile the Go has always been lacked of software support. So my best advice is right now you just stay with what you have in hand, wait for a couple of months because the Gen 2 is coming for both, until then you will have a better decision.
Highly recommend handheld companion app. Legion space is awful I disabled it and never looked back. Handheld companion isn't perfect either but it's way better than legion space.
I think waiting for the z2 to come out and opting for the legion go or z1 extreme is okay for now compared to spending $700 to $800+ when newer handhelds are coming soon
@@ItsOleg Hey Man do you know any information on upgrading the SSD? I'm thinking about getting a 2TB SSD upgrade once I get mine (should come Saturday) I don't have a PC and wanted to know if it was as simple as unscrewing it and swapping it and being all set?
It's better than the ally x. I don't even notice the lack of vrr if you tweak the games just right. The speakers suck but you get used to them after a few months. It's better in every other way than the ally x minus battery life but I plug in most of the time.
That's what I'm saying! Vrr isn't as big of a noticeable feature as everyone is saying it is. And I've tweaked the speakers using software to make them sound a lot better so might make a vid about that too
huh? can be used as tablet and fps mode🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️its the most versatile pc handheld on the market. ill do the same thing to ally x. whats the point of being windows handheld if you cant use it as tablet. you cant even remove controllers. doesnt make sense on ally x right? but on legion go it makes sense cause it was made to cater who likes versatility. if you like being small thats fine others like it big and versatile thats the point🤷♂️🤦
I also got rid of my Ally for a legion Go. I actually love it having 2 UsB C ports as well, an extra one for my X real Air glasses for watching movies. The screen is also the best and it's a big old boy for manly masculine hands for real men, if you have tiny feminine hands get an Ally 😂
I like the larger screen of the Legion Go, but it doesn't have VRR & makes the entire device much bigger. Also, the 1440p is useless as you're not going to be running any games at 1440p with that hardware. I'd rather they made it 1080p with VRR than 1440p. Also, the 8 more gigs of Ram & the longer lasting battery on the Ally X made me choose it over the Legion Go. I actually just ordered the Ally X & it was supposed to arrive today but it's late. I really like the detachable controllers of the Legion Go, and with the kickstand on the screen allowing you to set it up on a table. Also the FPS mode is really cool. If the Legion Go had those 8 more Gigs of RAM & went with VRR over 1440p, I absolutely would have chosen the Legion Go even with the shorter battery life.
VRR is an overrated feature. If you need it - you're not supplying enough juice, or not optimizing the graphics fidelity. It isn't sustainable, you can't just rely on VRR when the FPS fluctuates wildly, you'll definitely feel it, with or without VRR. At best it might prevent the occasional sub-second "hiccup", which you wouldn't get anyway if you optimized the game to fit your hardware
I just sold my Lenovo legion go for the Ally X. I miss the big screen but honestly the Ally X is easier to play with and hold. If it had a slightly larger screen it would be perfect and the battery life is too good.
The leGO only has 16gb of shared ram so it will run into issues running certain games at 1080p. People always assume 16gb will be only in the long run but well its not
Yeah 16 gigs of shared ram just doesn’t cut it for most games. Being able to set the Ally X to 8 gigs of vram and leaving it there without having to switch between the options to find a sweet spot is a game changer.
I want a 42" handheld oled tv. kidding But i feel these things are a gen or so away from me wanting one. As is they seem to struggle with some essential things. Tech is always one step behind my desires hahah
That’s what I’m thinking. Wait for the Z2 chips to drop next year. I’m sure new models are coming next year. Ally, steam deck and the go. I’d love for a super powerful steam deck. I love that steam decks just work. Quick resume feature. Pick up and go. But it’s least powerful at the moment. Fine for indie games or lower demanding games
How come you didn't talk about the weight? I have the Legion Go and everything about the screen is spot on, but the weight makes it so uncomfortable to use. Is the X much easier on the wrists?
The speaker on that thing sucks worse than a laptop or very cheap smart phone. I sold it and bought an ally-x because of that and the GO fried my SD card. That made me VERY MAD!!! As in it doesn't work at all anymore on any device and the data is gone. There is controller lag even when it's connected to the body. If those issues were fixed I would buy it again. But the sound is the worst out of any device, ever. Nothing sounds worse, it made a new benchmark of what bad sound can be.
Love my ally x. Screen size is great and it’s good for travel. I bought a 16 inch screen to dock with if I’m around the house and want a larger screen so
Ive seen nobody have any gripes about the ally X. I joined the legion go page on facebook and over 20 peoples comments on the page atleast 15 were issues. I have the ally og only thing that i dint likehave been fixed so i guess al see if its better and hopefully lego will be better in a few months and i will buy the lego
My only issue is that it takes WAY longer to download games to the SD card then the Steam Deck or the Switch. I don't really understand why. But that is the only thing I've had an issue with.
I went Ally to go then Went running back to x. The go screen is big bright and beautiful and the built in stand is perfect...thats about the only advantages i found over the x or even original ally .thing is huge and unwieldily which is a big no no for a handheld.. plus the reason i returned mine is the rightjoy con shoulder buttons just randomly stopped working agywr a week and s google/reddit search shows its a pretty common issue .. half the battery life of the x and worse performance, arguably worse software,. The go is good but its definitely a downgrade from an x .....snd should be more of a competitor to the original ally
Maybe dumb question but im a pc noob. Did you have to save anything and transfer over to new lego device? I been wondering if its a hassle to transfer when going to another handheld. I have all my emulation on a micro sd so is it as easy as take out and put in new device and play? And redownload all the game launchers?
I bought a Legion GO last weekend at Best Buy. Xbox app would not recognize my gamepass account. No matter what I tried, nothing working. Never got to play COD. Took it back.
I just sold my Switch OLED, Steam Deck LCD, and my Xbox series S. So i could get the Legion Go. And i have 0 regrets. I absolutely love my Legion.

Grabbing me an Ally X and call it a day.
hope it works out for you!
did exactly that, I also don't think Lenovo is as good as Asus idk, they made way more laptops I think? Asus has a Rog gaming line they know their shit it's an amazing company it's where I bought all my laptops for gaming too and never had issues. I'm sure they make a big version one day but tbh portable is portable desktop is desktop so even though I'd love a 8.8 I think maybe 8 inch or 7.5 max and that's it, it will become so irritating to use if it's bigger. I think the only way this can work is maybe having fixed controller or at least more ergonomic.
I also hate the 16.10 ratio on the legion go
@@MackDaddyVic ally X way to go 😎 I gave legion another try and loved the screen it gave me so much space especially at the top, WoW is narrow on ally X but man I love my ally, I got really used to the crisp screen it hits different with VRR and the smaller size is so good, you can just reach stuff better it feels more natural to hold even though the legion grip itself felt more comfortable but you can get cases and grips for ally that's my take, 7 inch and one piece of device instead of detachable controller is where it's at,
it's why no other company does that format other than some smaller ones try 8 inch but for regular gaming especially if you already have a big screen at home it's the best. gaming in bed is nice but not healthy when you never sit at a desk cause you can avoid it with the legion go.
I made the same switch, but i did not have the same issues. I had software issues and i didn’t have enough ram. So i switched and have no regrets!
Sorry homie, I have both and my Ally X is my go to. I agree that the screen size is noticeable, but the battery life on the X is blowing everything away right now. If I have to choose between screen size or battery life, I'll take playing for longer.
thats fair!
I also have both, and it all depends on your use case - if you're buying a handheld to mostly play outside, during commute or flight - yep, Ally X, no competition. But if you're buying a handheld to chill on the bed or living room sofa? The Go blows the Ally out of the water with its big vibrant screen.
Yeah battery is not worth the 800$ minor upgrades isn’t worth it to me of course 👍
This is why I’m getting the legion go! GeForce now is amazing. And being able to stream from your pc is amazing.
@@zergothikaify yeah sd storage expansion should be no problem. just make sure you get a high speed rated one and you'll be good
I had the Rog Ally and bought the Legion Go and then sold my Ally. The screen size is the best advantage. I will never get a handheld with less than 8 inches.
Legion go my first handheld. After 10 months still lovin' it
Thanks for the update, I still am not sure what handheld I will be getting. I feel like right now isn't the best time but I am also on a desktop and happily gaming.
yeah there's a lot of hype about the new amd chips so that might be worth waiting for
Get a steam deck
OneXPlayer X1 10.95" with AMD is the winner right now.
I wouldn't sell my ally x for any other handheld
I would.. for the Ally 2.
@@FrostArchonthat is true but when it comes out lol
i wouldnt sell legion go for ally x but i would buy ally x as secondary device next to lego
Okay, noted with thanks.
@@AhmadZakwan-fd3xc You're welcome
The screen is actually 1600p, not 1440. Got mine a couple of days ago and really love it! And I agree, the display is really on another level. :)
Just to make it clear, it's a personal choice. But if you want a better performing handheld, no handheld can even come close to the ROG ally x
Onexfly
I love, love, LOVE my Legion Go. That screen is simply sublime. I wish it had the Ally X's software and battery life, but these are drawbacks I can definitely live with, as both have workarounds via 3rd party apps and battery packs.
very true! if lenovo gets their s*** together with their software it would make a huge difference
I sold both my Asus ROG ally and Steam Deck. I just recently picked up a GPD win 4 32GB 2TB 2024 version. 😉👌
Great video !!! Just ordered the legion go on sale at best buy! Pumped to get it! Been getting more into pc gaming and I love handheld especially with this screen ratio!!!
Good choice bro.. The legion go is the best handheld PC on the market by far.
If you want to pull up the keyboard you can also press that setting option on the right side and it’s the 4th option that should display system quick settings
i mainly use my legion go for games like Hollow Knight, Ori, Etc. This handheld is freaking amazing
added a bluetooth keyboard and mouse to mine, and a webcam to use whatsapp, I love this thing, i 3D printed a Dock, and it holds the usbc adapter and battery pack
thats pretty sweet!
nos mostre por favor
I had the opportunity with the ally z1 and gave it to my nephew and I love it and I also love the legion big screen, which I currently have. Love them both. Both are powerful in my eyes
Steam Deck is king for Indy and lower wattage (older) 3D games and some emulation, that being said, I have a Go and it's a great device with some tweaks, I've gotten into heavily modded Skyrim again and playing it on a handheld device is awesome. It's even more fun docked to my T.V. like a Switch. I even have a dock setup in my home office so it gets used as a desktop PC occasionally.
I got the ally x, and I love it.
You need to get the comfort grips. They bring the Legion Go's ergonomics to a whole new level.
I did see a video about them, might consider it for sure
I did just the opposite I took my LeGo back for and Ally X liked the go screen performance not so much ..
For me the performance has been pretty much the same
Performance is the same. The ally x and legion are literally using the exact same z1 extreme. The only way you would get less performance on the go is if you try to play games on the higher resolution screen.2k vs 1080p in the ally x.
@@justswitched8841the ally x can set 8GB for vram and still have a full 16 left for system memory. That alone should give better 1% lows than the go
@@justswitched8841I have both and performance is not quite the same.
Yeah their software is definitely behind for sure but I haven't had those issues you've mentioned on mine
Yours might be faulty i leave mine off for weeks it doesn't kill the battery loads up fine every time
Seeing many say ally x out performance lego. Maybe they forgot to set the lego to 6gb vram in bios. Is a big game changer.
Sold my iPad 10 and my PS5 for this! I love it!
I'd totally buy one if Lenovo fixes the software and make the display anti-glare like the s24u and s25u phones have
Had the same issues as you with squeaky triggers and dpad, wall on both thumb sticks, and creaking body.. was annoying enough for me to return it lol
Thanks for your video!
Especially if you have big hands, navigating windows on a small screen is just torture
@ItsOleg the resolution also helps make that experience better, there's enough pixels to work with. The screen really is nice.
I have both. Legion Go is defintely super fun and i enjoy the bigger screen, the fan noise kills me.
Legion Go is King atm👑👑
Once you go from a handheld with a 7inch to an 8inch you will never go back. Games look better on a screen that is at least 8 inches.
The only thing you can't do on the Ally and Steam Deck is giving us that 8.8-inch screen experience.
that's why i love it and chose it as my handheld because you can use it for many different things besides just gaming
I will go for a PC handheld when GO 2 comes out later 2025
FINALLY SOMEONE FEELING WHAT I FELT, dude i love me ally but why these small burdens... i ended up destroying the ribbon cable for the M function buttons from how many times i opened it. although i did find a fix for the joystick wiggling like you said (hitting a wall) where i would stuff the joystick inside with a thin sticker from the sides, and now with tight fit it's perfect.
thats what i was worried about, even tho i've taken apart hundreds of devices before, i just didn't want to do it for something as silly as squeaking.
@@ItsOleg but trust me just dont unscrew the trigger or anything just the back screws and dont even remove the ribbon holding the back just tilt a little bit just so it’s open and put keyboard lube everywhere on the metal piece inside the trigger… you will feel the superior relief believe me
I would the next Lenovo Go as a addition not to replace. I have The RogAlly Z1 Extreme which easy to upgrade the ssd and other things.😅
Everything was done right. Team LeGo💙
I had a Rog Ally but the sdcard slot was dead from day 1 and Asus's customer support was useless so I ended up selling it. That is the reason I won't buy an Ally X but looking at the Legion go, that large screen looks very tempting!
its definitely really immersive
Sold my x too love my legion
Why you sell it
i sold my heart for legion go
Version 2 of Legion Go, when? Just need more RAM, a full 2280 slot, more battery, quieter fans, a native landscape screen, VRR, and improved ergonomics. 👀🙏❤️
$1000-$1200 for those upgrades
Worth it tbh@@Cub__
that would be amazing
I traded in my regular white ally for a legion go and im not dissapointed at all the screen is nice as SHIT and it has the same chipset😋
Lenovo is a monster i love mine , i had steam deck and rog ally but my lenovo is my favourite the only problem is the battery
Agreed. Buttons suck.
But seeing modded GTAV on the GO is next-level.
Demand more large screens.
I sold my rog ally x to get steam deck oled. And boy I love it
I think waiting for the z2 to come out and opting for the legion go or z1 extreme is okay for now compared to spending $700 to $800+ when newer handhelds are coming soon
Awesome video Man hoping to get mine soon!
thanks!
@@ItsOleg Hey Man do you know any information on upgrading the SSD? I'm thinking about getting a 2TB SSD upgrade once I get mine (should come Saturday) I don't have a PC and wanted to know if it was as simple as unscrewing it and swapping it and being all set?
I am ordering ally x for the small size battery ram vrr small resolution portrait screen if i want big screen i can play on my desktop pc or ps5
very true!
And I've tweaked the speakers using software to make them sound a lot better so might make a vid about that too
@@ItsOleg tutorial please
I just updated to the ally x and its been amazing. I don't see the point of the screen on the legion when you can't even utilize it with modern games
huh? can be used as tablet and fps mode🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️its the most versatile pc handheld on the market. ill do the same thing to ally x. whats the point of being windows handheld if you cant use it as tablet. you cant even remove controllers. doesnt make sense on ally x right? but on legion go it makes sense cause it was made to cater who likes versatility. if you like being small thats fine others like it big and versatile thats the point🤷♂️🤦
@user-li6ns2lk3z the controller aspect is neat but that has nothing to do with the screen. 144hz 2k can't be used with modern games with the apu
Watch the damn video very closely again, kid
@@AhmadZakwan-fd3xc tl;dr
the biggest thing with the screen is you're able to see more and the colors look better, even if it is in the lower resolutions
Had a legion go….beautiful screen…..very inconsistent experience. Things work as they should maybe 30% of the time.
What would be male hands? Hands that don't care about weight?
the smaller screen on the x doesnt bother me. if i want more immersion, i connect to my monitor.
I sold my rog ally z and got Legion go...... and the bigger screen is such a game changer lol
I will buy RoG Ally X because Battery Life match for me as small person and good for travelling person like me
Why pick Asus rog Ally X ? 1 tb ssd 24gb ram and 80wh battery 😂 and quiet fan
I'm gonna be honest, I didn't even notice vrr was missing when I switched. You're still getting a great experience without it
VRR is an overrated feature.
How you liking the x? Was it the right move?
I would choose the legion go for the screen size
I'll stick with my Analogue Pocket😂
always wanted one ngl haha
I just sold my Lenovo legion go for the Ally X. I miss the big screen but honestly the Ally X is easier to play with and hold. If it had a slightly larger screen it would be perfect and the battery life is too good.
Screen is too small. Pass
The leGO only has 16gb of shared ram so it will run into issues running certain games at 1080p. People always assume 16gb will be only in the long run but well its not
Only a small fraction of games actually take advantage of the higher ram. Not really noticeable in most games
Yeah 16 gigs of shared ram just doesn’t cut it for most games. Being able to set the Ally X to 8 gigs of vram and leaving it there without having to switch between the options to find a sweet spot is a game changer.
Man, it sounds like you needed to get a replacement ally x. I got my ally x yesterday and I have no issues so far
Hopefully the squeaking issues do get solved with the later revisions, glad yours is working well for you
I want a 42" handheld oled tv. kidding
But i feel these things are a gen or so away from me wanting one. As is they seem to struggle with some essential things. Tech is always one step behind my desires hahah
another gen of cooking could be huge for sure
Sir has to ask if the legion go has like a wobble problem as the like controlers are detachable so pls answer
Love my ally x. Screen size is great and it’s good for travel. I bought a 16 inch screen to dock with if I’m around the house and want a larger screen so
I love my ally x and just ordered AR glasses. I can't wait to try it out with the ally x
Been researching the Ally X for a few weeks myself and pretty sure I’ll be on the bandwagon SOON.
If I want a big screen I play on my Odyssey Ark. Ally X is the best currently.
The thing that i don't like on legion go is the weight, is to heavy for me while playing on the bed 😂
yeah really gotta build that forearm strength
Stop jerkin
Took it back.
just waiting for lenovo to drop the updates for amd frame gen 2 and its gonna be a no contest
