11:46 FSR 3.1 and Frame Gen on the Lenovo Legion GO
#legiongo #amd #gaming #etaprime Игры
Just got mine 2 days ago and i play God of War using the original graphic settings, and my mind is blown away by the performance of the Legion Go. Sure launching the games are not as smooth compared to Steamdeck OLED. But for someone who used to play high end games on a playstation and a gaming PC, having the same capability on this hand held is simply amazing.
Gotta give it to the engineers on AMD, for developing the Fsr 3.1, Frame gen, ALL AAA games went from 45 fps - 70+ fps, on the GO
@@alimousa93 amd is a sleeping giant that I'm fairly certain is going to become less of an underdog soon
I am not hater of amd but FSR is just copy of DLSS
@@Dr80SK id agree for fsr 1 and 2.1, but 3.1 + frame gen took it to the Next level than nvidias dlss
@@alimousa93 this 👍🏻
@@Dr80SK so what? Almost every hendheld using amd and we here only to praise their job for making something to make heavy AAA games run smoother on hendheld gaming, whats dlss gonna do about it?
BTW, not sure if you are aware but you can give more VRAM in BIOS. It is default to 3 gigs. I set it between 4~6 gigs depending on the games. Your mileage may vary.
I just bought my Legion Go an hour ago, and I'm so glad seeing this video!!!
Me too, how you like yours?
@@Omie-Wan-kenobi I love it a lot! Just installed Forza 4, God of War and Counter Strike. Its amazing that you can actually connect it to a monitor, mouse and Keyboard and it turns into a full desktop
Me too also. Went to local BestBuy and bought one for the upcoming trip to Las Vegas. Been enjoying it so far. Haven't owned a gaming handheld since 3DS XL. 😁
Same here hehe waiting for deliver tho, 2 days then all in!
Ive played counter strike, forza 4, street fighter 4, Need for Speed Shift and several PSP emulator games and they worked flawlessly. With steam's on going sale, i just bought God of War, Tekken 8, Witcher 3 and Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 after seeing other bloggers playing them on this device. I would say this is the king of portable handheld games because of its raw power and ability to run a full windows desktop in such a small form factor.
One of the best tech purchases of 2023/2024 has to be the Legion Go!
I'm honestly happy with 30fps as long as it's stable so this thing is pretty awesome for me. I usually set the frame limiter at like 45fps anyway. For older games i let it max out because why not? Lol. But for newer games i prefer a locked but smooth lower frame rate so the image still looks good. A high frame rate is nice but not it constantly dips and the image quality suffers so bad. And I'm usually not a resolution snob because from across a room even 720p looks pretty good but when you're holding the screen so close to your face it's very noticeable.
Thank you for this video. I can't wait to get off work and apply my updates.
Frame gen is a game changer for handheld gaming PC's
It's not its fake frames
It sure is
@@chriswright8074lmao, it makes your game much smoother
it's not working when u swing camera fast, so if u play game like horizon forbbiden west, it not work in combat, but i still use them anyway coz it's so smooth when u just do simple stuff like running around ! i use rx6600 on 4k 120hz LG tv
If all you care about is “fPs nUmBeR gO uP” the yes its a game changer :-)
The few updates and changing the RAM speed saved my LEGO from getting returned. Hopefully Lenovo and AMD can figure out Frame Gen for the portrait display next. Think a lot of us LEGO owners have been using lossless scaling. Only time will tell.
losless is crap ...
@@seppeseppe-jq7nr depends on the game your & experience with it. Only title I've had a bad experience w/LS on was Jedi Survivor.
Great content. I can only imagine the amount of work that goes into each of theses reviews. Thank You!!
Nothings been added, still no vram control that the ally has had for some time now. That's my most requested feature. It's a farce to reset, go into bios just to change vram.
Really wanted this device. Ordered it for bellow $600 brand new! Want to use it as a tablet and game system. Thanks for the review!
Great content. What is the input pag like with fsr3?
This year was done with which GPU drivers? Does it run on the LLGO’s screen?
why can't you pick between 60htz 120htz or 144htz? can you ask them for that as an option being that you have open dialog with them?
Whenever legion Space is open the controllers don’t work in game. So I can never have Legion Space open. Why is that?
AMD 300 chips for mobile launching this month. I wonder if we will see any handhelds with them.
Good to see updates. I’m thinking of getting this or the one x player x1
I have the AMD X1 onexplayer and owned the legion go since late February. Get the X1 trust me.
@@NorthsideChamps16 thanks for sharing this with me!! How was the shipping?
@@NorthsideChamps16 why? Can you give some reasons?
@@Jaysson83 I would like to know why as well
@@NorthsideChamps16id also like to know the reasons why to choose the X1 over the Legion Go.
After this update, would you prefer to play on Legion Go or Asus ROG Ally X?
Got mine yesterday, amazing machine. Had to get the 1tb version, they only had that one available at BB.
Does any of the settings in the amd settings app have to be changed to use FSR 3.1 & Frame Gen? Or does enabling it in each games settings make it work?
For FSR, what resolution should I have the game settings on and also what resolution should I have the legion go set as?
I love the chunkster! 🔥
emulation on the legion go
it's been super fun. set up es-de front end and really enjoy PS2 and Wii emulation right now.
@@olddadagamer i enjoy RPCS3 too in my legion go.. I play GoW III and MGS4 gun of patriots
Now that Legion GO got a big update, could we get a Legion GO vs SD OLED vs ROG Ally X? (vs CLAW)
This this this
will they be making a controller conector to be able to connect the joycons?
with me there's a bug that i turn off vibration on the pad but every time when you turn the side settings on automatically turns on the vibration on the pad ....
anyone noticed that ?
no
Good thing he read my comments because I told him you should look out the new bios update from the Legion space just to make sure to send some viewers to know what’s going on maybe some performance boost maybe some optimisation to understand to know it came out couple days ago somewhere looked good
The problem with this type of utility once again lies at the input level, this causes latency.
does FSR 3.1 + frame gen work when using an eGPU? I'm thinking 4K low kinda stuff on something like an Aorus Gaming Box 2070
@@hameerz don’t even bother just save up for a good desktop to play 4K
How is the input delay??
anyone else having issues with the new UI/ legion space update? i can't open it without running it as admin. i can't use the short cut key to get to legion space either even after changing the properties to launch as admin. the short cut for the on screen overly works but it won't let me make any changes for TDP, fans or anything related to performance. i have to go to legion space via launching the application, then set the profiles the way i want and then can cycle through the overlay
For me this update+windows update at the same time, broke the smart fan setting in performance mode. After 2 or 3 minutes of playing any game it just drops to 2-5 fps because the fan simply goes in "quiet" mode. The only solution now is to set the fan speed myself...
Would be nice if they release something to join the controllers together. Jsaux is taking way too long to release their connectors, about 5 months now.
Didn't didn't add anything, in contrary to what you said. It's just a design overhaul. No functionality was added to the pervious Legion Space. To be fair, in comparison to launch then yes they added many things. But just because at launch it was so awful.
Hi, is it possible to get the Legion GO in windows hibernation mode / standby mode and do wakeup on keyboard stroke? Is the fan inactive in this mode?
What gpu driver are u using bc I tried the 780m driver and the official ones and the games keep crashing
I’m so torn on buying my first handheld device. Is the Legion Go worth it or should I hold off until a better model comes out? I’m not fussed on price, I just want whatever performs and looks the best for gaming.
If you enable gyro, will it be always on?
My legion go can't call legion space with controller button and app icon.
How is the latency when fg and fsr 3 is enabled?
Frame gen gives me heavy ghosting on lenovo go. Anyone know how to work around this?.
Same with third party lossless aplication ghosting is just so bad.
It’ll be nice if you plug an external graphic card and see the performance result because maybe it’s gonna be a lot different than it used to be because some software some optimisation some better performance and all that stuff I want to see the AMD graphic card, which is the 7600mxt
You should make a video about using lossless scaling on handheld PCs as its really a game changer
Is it coming to the ally x??
which handheld can run 3a games max settings 60 fps stable ?
Where do I get that Legion go Animated wallpaper?
I’m glad these mods are baked into the software… tweaking settings is a ball ache!
What's the trade-off with FSR? Is there a downgrade in visual fidelity? I mean, there can't seriously be a magic button that adds 30 percent to your FPS, right?
Love the legion go, I don’t use like how people use it though. I use it as a GeForce now ultimate portal lol I get 1600p at 120hz and it looks GOOD lol
I don't know if it's just me but every time you stop talking and start again the audio does a weird cut thing
it's like a black magic for fps bump
The frame monitor still doesn’t work for me even in full screen mode 😒
I was using fsr 3 and frame gen on the steam deck but had to turn off frame gen because it was drawing a ghost line of either side of the character in the last of us part 1 the frame rate tho was very nice but sticking to mid 30s to 40 fps I just can't play with the failed frame generation its too distracting and looks horrific
So where do you go to update itn
the screen is landscape flipped which means they put it in upside down on purpose lol
How much harder is it to run Horizon Forbidden West, than it is to run Horizon Zero Dawn? I am running Zero Dawn on my Rog Ally with 900p, medium presents at 15w without any issues. Is there a big jump between the two games?
you wont be able to play forbidden west at 15watts for sure. but you can try your luck at maybe 20-22 watts at low settings mostly. but dont worry, this game looks great at low settings with rog allys screen.put your gpu memory to 6gb instead of the standart 4gb, forbidden west takes a lot of gpu memory. if you run into any issues in other games you can change gpu vram size back to 4gb. now that it got frame generation it should be way better than it was before the update.
@@Embreh89 Thanks
custom TDP doesn't work on the legion go.
It was good I could play anything. But now its great!
I've recently purchased Legion Go Chinese version. I got it with seal open(seller said customs check will open seal) and with windows setup done with name "Admin" just like your name was preset in Legion Go Space. And as i purchased it recently, I got this update out of box.
I'm having an issue with the device, when I power it on and toggle start menu or quick settings menu on right, popup opens and if I try to access the menu by moving my hand the menu is closing as if I touched the display, this is not happening if I place the device on table and use it. Is it because of sensor issue? Or it's just software issue? I feel the item is refurbished as the seal is open and windows setup was already done, two drive partition was already done, a driver setup zip file is already available in storage. But seller claims that it's a new one and providing me 1 year local seller guarantee.
What are your thoughts on this?
Is your windows setup preset out of box on your legion on?
Are you also facing such touch sensor issue?
Please let me know
handhelds really need the gyroscope to select a group of files
I see so many mixed issues from users who have updated their Legion Go. Enough to make me hold off on it.
Apparently legion space breaks controller settings for a few, but works great for others.
The new AMD drivers break certain games for a few, but works great for others.
I'm at a point where if its not broken, dont fix it. Plus, i have a major trip coming up and I don't want to break anything on my device before I'm stuck on a plane for 10 hours.
So... idk.
I can update it when I get back I guess.
Do NOT open legion space if you don’t want the update.. it automatically updates.. i made tht mistake.
It’s good but the space button is broken now.
hmm, I don't know. I only use Legion Space for setting up the controller and on-the-fly change of TDP,. Everything else is just Steam and plain Windows. I preferred the aesthetics of the older version.
Edit: Also, where did the exit option go? Am I overlooking something obvious? I can't find it in Legion Space.
Alt +f4, but you need a keyboard I guess
Quick settings (R legion button)
@@WillySou oh yeah. It doesn't close Legion Space, but it does take you to the desktop. Thanks 👍
@@setone28ua You can always swipe from the bottom to get to Windows menu. Still think it's odd they removed the option to exit. Like, why?
I also liked the aesthetics of the older one ngl
Content lately seems more like sponsoring then non bias reviewing
lately????
I highly doubt he was paid by AMD or Lenovo
handhelds getting more compelling. i need 32gb ram though for desktop setup
Framegen ia great but the number on the top left doesnt tell the whole story.
The game can report higher fps with the game still looking like its running at lower framerates.
Also the legion go button is not work.
Got moved to the other set of buttons
Thank you
hye can you show that this legion go can run fc24
When are they going to release the update that allows you to increase your RAM to 32GB 😢
I've been interested about of that amazing Nintendo Switch like with a removable controllers looking handheld gaming PC Lneovo Legion Go since it's launch in last year's october 2023 it's interesting to see it have a new MASSIVE Update what make it a lot better, but is Lenovo Legion Go still worth it, should I buy Steam Deck Oled, Asus Rog Ally X or wait for Lenovo Legion Go 2 what I've been heard is on the working now? 😮❤
Its a great device but I would wait for the legion go 2. is very expensive for the price i would just get a laptop
Yeah I should wait for the Legion Go 2. Legion Go's price is really expensive I agree, but some laptops are too. @@vizknight1862
if you can’t wait and want to play aaa games, ally x is probably the best, if you mostly play low budget indies/retro and don’t really care about money - steam deck oled
I would wait. I think we will see a 2nd gen PC handheld in 2025. But if you want something now then i recommend the Steamdeck Oled if you want to play older games, or if you want more power to play all new games with 40 fps or more then you should get the rog ally if you want a smaller size handheld or the legion go if you want a bigger handheld.
So Custom TDP actually works now?
Yeah, for the most part. give or take 1-2 watts in my case.
@@thetechievet I just got updating mine and regardless of the custom TDP I set, it still shoots up to 30w. no fix on mine
framegen on adrenalin software still not supported ..only with other screens but not directly on legion go screen unfortunately
I think that's due to their screen that they r using.
@@olddadagamer i know that but in the video is saying that you can use it if in windowed mode but it doesn't work in the native screen
Hello
Congrats for this chanell, is excelent !!!
I have a little problem whit the new Legion Go VGA driver, pls if you can create a video how to properly install it.
Many, many thanks for your help.
I cannot install the AMD Adrenalin Control Center, and I installed an old CCC app over the drivers, from another post on this chanell. Pls HELP! Thank you.
Does anyone know if this device can be use while plugged in to power outlet? I'm saving up to buy this within this year.
It sure can be. I haven't noticed any particular overheating issues. I keep mine plugged into a power bank for supplementary power.
@@GreywindLina Thanks. Been checking on Reddit and Lenovo forum if users are having a tech issue whenever they use this device while plugged in to the power outlet. But none of them seem to provide accurate answers, considering Legion doesn't have battery saving option where you can only charge it to 60% to extend it's life.
@@KyudoKun It does have a setting that restricts the battery charge to save it, but not that low. I forget what percentage.
80%
Yes, you can. As the battery will survive "only" hour on performance mode (no differents between others) i am plugged most of time to the electricity or powerbank
We need the gyro to work probably not some stupid futures.
One thing that holds back some of these handhelds is VRAM speed(well really FLCK and UCLK not running in 1) but mostly capacity so many of these windows devices come with 16GB of RAM, and while SteamOS is pretty good on these with 16GB with only some games running out, windows is not OK. This is exacerbated by some games not liking only 488MB of VRAM so for some games you need to dedicate 2, 4, or even 8GB to the GPU, leaving only 14-8GB for the OS.
Really i think for APUs the minimum should be 24GB, this should allow you to dedicate 4GB to the GPU and leaving 20GB to share between the GPU and CPU. Personally, i'd have liked 24GB of 4800-5400MT/s with MCLK, FCLK, and UCLK in 1:1(2400-2700Mhz) would use less power and because its in 1:1 has a high likelyhood of outperforming compared to 24GB of 6400MT/s
yea there is a test with 8700g that was paired with 7800mhz ram amd the performance increased by +30%.
@@fdgdfgdfgdfg3811 I have an 8700G with 8000MT/s but the UCLK is at like 2000Mhz not 4000Mhz
@@denvera1g1 i dont know if you need to 1:1 IF, you should test with lower frequency and do 1:1 and compare it with 1:2 see if there is difference, because the gpu usually have alot more latency with vram. and lowering the latency doesn't change performance.
@@fdgdfgdfgdfg3811 It has been ~6 months since i tested the 8700G, but the 5700G still saw nice performace scaling to 5000MT/s in 1:1:1 (2500Mhz on MCLK:FCLK:UCLK)
I was dissapointed with the 8700G because i couldnt get UCLK much faster than 2000Mhz, and would sometimes have lower memory bandwidth than the 5700G with 5000 in 1:1:1, it was right on the edge often falling back to 1:2:2 or even 1:2:3 with UCLK at 935Mhz for some reason.
when should one use RSR?
@@hatorihanzo3431 only if your game is running poorly and the game itself doesn't have its own implementation of fsr
This made me buy, had an ayaneo air but didn't use it too small and weak playing gta 5 at 30-50fps on higher medium settings wasn't enough for me plus the screen was too small and the fact it's ayaneo it's janky this is lenovo and runs way better after these updated. Just gave my lil sister the ayaneo as she games retired her laptop from gaming it was so trash 😂
Does asus rog ally get FSR 3 with Frame gen too?
All Gpu get those
Rog ally got it first. Even afmf
There are so many 780m Gpus on the market. Don't understand why the companies optimise for steam deck but not for 780m
Can you do performance in linux vs steamdeck
Frame generation = input lag ?
I am going to wait for the next gen stuff. Its just not enough performance on any of them really.
I dont like the new ui and i replaced it with Handheld Companion program.
You can tell what the best handheld is on market just by looking at ebay listings... there is few Legion Gos for sale compared to ROG ally and SD. This update is significant for the GO, going from 40s to 90fps is big value increase. Lock it at 60FPS adjust TDP and send it mobile.
Go is much newer device so makes sense
I still hope Helldivers 2 get FSR3 update 😢
oh look, it got an update that every handheld add 6 months ago xD its kids of worth because the LEGO doesnt have a VRR screen to its basically shudder all over the place.
The problem with Legion Go is lack of VRR and the fact that it doesn't have the granular refreshrate and fps locking as Steam Deck does. Just can't stand the stutter in most AAA games. 😖
Nice 🙂
This or the rog ally?
Should I get this or the ROG Ally z1 extreme
Ally if you want a smaller handheld for on the go, the legion go if you want a bigger screen and removable controllers.
I personally think the legion go is cooler but can be too big at times. Really depends on what you truly want to use either for. But I'd say legion go since it has almost everything the ally has minus the "VRR" stuff everyone raves about.
@@greentray1231 Have they fixed the SD card issue? I had thought I read a while back that it's something they are not really fixing?
@@rgsniper2 no I don’t believe they have fixed that issue from the research I’ve done a couple of days ago. The go is just so dang big and doesn’t seem like it would be comfortable to use as a handheld
I have both and while I love the legion Go over the ally , is recommend the ally to my friend simply bcuz the screen natively supports frame gen unlike the legion go and if you're into getting the most out of amds newest tech , the ally is the way to go. he's into simplicity as well and doesn't need detachable controllers. he prefers playing with the handheld up close where as I, enjoy the detachable controllers with gyro features for Wii emulation and fps mode for editing.
it all depends on wat u want out of your device. they both offer different features that make one a better choice then the other depending on your valued use cases.
Wait for the ally x and get that, you’ll be fine for a while
I would be more impressed if other devs worked to optimize games and not be sloppy.
eta mr. every product or updates are super😂😂😂 who trust him nowdays 😂😂
Dude in your hand every product is perfect … stop it
Nixxes are the GOATS
Just picked up my Legion Go 🥶
Can you test this on the Z1 non-extreme Ally? If it is available. Thanks.
Lenovo being more reliable than Asus is a fact
Hardware reliability or support/updates reliability?
Not even FSR 3 or Lossless Scaling make modern games playable at acceptable quality settings on these handhelds. Streaming your local gaming PC or GeforceNow are the way currently with these devices. Source: I had both a Steam Deck and an Ally.
We need it for Steam Deck
its on steam deck its the titles that baked it in not the legion
