- In this episode of 'Will It Fit?' with Falken Tires, we head over to @DV8Offroad where they test fitted a brand new 2024 Toyota Tacoma SR5 4WD with Falken's brand new Wildpeak A/T4W all-terrain tire. The goal was to answer the common question of what's the largest tire you can run on a 4th Gen Tacoma with no lift? We beleive we have the answer!

Just ordered 285/70/17 because everybody on the forums has said that's the perfect fit with a 25 mm offset. I sure hope so!
255/80/R 17 A true 33.1 inch tire also fits ! LT285/70R17 Wildpeak A/T4W 32.8 inch
I have a 24 TRD Off Road on a Quality Hold as well. I hope they fix that TFL problem.
Thinking of going with same setup but a -10 offset ......would that cause rubbing
Would like to see this same video but without the wheel sticking out as much.
On the 3rd Gen we can put 255/85r16's on with no lift or mods. Funny that the Falken guy doesn't know this, considering they make a 255/85r16 in the Wildpeak AT4. No chopping or suspension lift. Just for the Taco boys out there riding in the last great gen of the V6!
Thanks for putting this info out there. Though I don't personally own a Tacoma, I am a supporter of a pizza cutter tire. Most people prefer the look of the 285 vs a 255, so I haven't heard that confirmed before.
@@falkentireMy original swap from stock was 233/85r16 and those boys are skinny! lol! I loved them, but finding out that I can go up even higher than that set, mod free, made me get the AT4 Pizza cutters in 255. Great tire!!!
285/75/r17 fit ! 33.9 inch tire !
I’m still learning my truck stuff. Just bought a 2024 Tacoma 6ft bed. The look I wanted was 275/70/17. I found secondhand 275/70/18. Will the wheels look too big ?
Is there something that goes back over that opening when removing the crash bar mount to prevent water from getting inside?
At the time it did not seem as if there would be an issue with water intrusion. The holes you can see in the video were in brackets that the cover bolted too. It certainly wasn't water tight in stock form.
Is the removal of the factory crash bar necessary if im not into off roading?
no, and you dont have to remove the crash plate at all. The only reason the tires rubbed in this case was due to the offset
i have a 2024 TRD Sport and i went with a 285/55/r20 with a 00 offset. do you think ill have any issues?
That size is a tad shorter in overall diameter, and just a hair wider than what we used in the video. Seems like you'll likely be fine, but it's worth inspecting yourself to make sure.
Can you run these tires on the stock wheels?
Do you happen to know the width of the stock wheels? The LT285/70R17 Wildpeak A/T4W is approved for a 7.5 - 9.0" wide wheel. Also, the wheel offset of the stock wheels is certain to change the fitment. However, as we can see, a 0mm offset has the tires sticking out too far beyond the wheel wells. So the stock offset might work. We didn't try. Sorry.
Just because you can fit them in you should consider there're not engineered for it, and the truck is under powered as it is. Will say Toyota's dependability is solid.
WHATS THE BEST TUNE FOR THESE TRUCKS?
We'll have to let the Tacoma community chime in on this one. Sorry.
Will it break is the more appropriate question.
What about 3rd gen?
Not much clearance on compression. You are probably going to rip the fender off or smash the tire into it. The newer trucks are sitting lower and lower to the ground these days. The Nissan frontier pretty much has no room for anything unless you lift it.
The DV8 team said they put it on a fork lift and flexed it out to make sure they weren't rubbing.
U wanna see if will fit on a '75 Chevy K10???
Stock, or lifted? 🤔
@@falkentire Stock!!
Well sumbitch. All these years, myself and everyone else I've heard, thought it was pronounced Fall-Ken. I'm feeling a little unwell, now.
You're not the first, or the last!
Me too!
I can't believe people think the offset looks good like this. Thanks for blasting everyone with gravel with that mad poke and no flaps.
The guys from DV8 weren't very happy with the offset. But since the clearance was unknown, they played it safe. It's going to need a positive offset.
Agree with your statement! They are a hazard to other vehicles on the road without mudflaps. Plus, they don't look good either. It's like a poser widebody without the actual widebody fenders and suspension.
A lot of wrong information given here.
as weak as the front differential has proven to be, i wouldn't want to put bigger tires on it and add to the load.
Basically no short answer saved you 10 mins ..
a lot of useful information in that 10 minutes though
I hate the promise and not delivery
ARE u going to loss any horse power because bigger using diameter tire demands bigger torque to crank this 4500 lbs beast,, and you may experience fuel mileage decrease since needs to push harder on the gas pedal whenever climb hill or driving with load??? I bet you on flat,, good mpg,, but on ascent and with heavy load,, Poor mpg
There will be about 4.5% loss of torque.
There is always a little give and take. 4th gen Tacoma owners need to report back on drivability and MPGs.
