- In this video I hike up to a dangerous ridge in the highlands of Iceland for landscape photography. To make the hiking more enjoyable, I take my Fuji X-T3 camera which is great for hiking and landscape photography. Iceland is a beautiful country with so many unknown photography locations and I thoroughly enjoyed this one.

I’ve just finished reading your book Thomas and it’s fantastic, I’d encourage people to buy a copy while they still can 👌👏
A picture book?
@@jimarmstrong1458 each photo has an accompanying story about the experience and composition of the photo.
@@jimarmstrong1458 The book is linked in the description below the video.
That place is one of my absolute favorites in the Highlands of Iceland. Sadly, I had to take down the video and wasn't in a mood to redo it. However, I did get one of my favorite photos from there. Absolutely stunnin'!
I knew I recognized that ridge! I have to ask, why did you need to take down your video?
This is really funny to me, watching the video, I'm imagining your view.
"Mads Peter would sure be doing a selfie on the small island, with a small bright yellow inflatable boat holding it in a rope."
Anyway, you and Thomas are great inspiration.
I was just about to say that Mr Iversen has been to that exact location 😄
I was also wondering why you had to take down the video.
I'm glad that Mr. Heaton decided not to share the actual location here... but it still feels a little questionable. Some spots need not be revealed to the masses.
Brilliant! of course, I would say that since I was there but it was brilliant. Super work there Tom!
Adam, when do you think your series from Iceland will start?
@@Ramage7070 hopefully this weekend
@@QuietLightPhoto awesome looking forward to it.
Good Lord man, sketchy doesn’t BEGIN to describe that trail!
I don't know which you excel at the most: your photography skills or your cinematography skills. In this video your video skills actually overshadowed your amazing photos. Of course, the location didn't hurt. Simply awe inspiring...and I don't use that term often.
Man, I love the background music. It accompanies perfectly the beautiful and tranquil scene.
So happy to see the X-T3 in action. Great video, motivation is needed at this moment in time.
Reading your book give a very good inspiration and knowing that an effort will bring better photos over time. For me as a amateur this give me knowledge and encourage me to do an improvement in the composition of my photos. So reading this book and watching the videos have bring me a peace to my life, and had make my summer vacation much more fun. Keep up your great work, knowing you do a great difference for me and all the persons that follow you.
Wonderful video Tom, really enjoyed it, glad you made it down safe. Cheers, Duade
So beautiful there! Thanks for sharing
I absolutely LOVE these videos. Your videos are soo calm and they give a peek into your creative process. As an aspiring photographer, I really look up to you.
Amazing stills, drone and video footage. Loved it. Thank you.
Striking views and beautiful images. Thanks for sharing.
Thomas you are so inspiring and your work seems unmeasurable on your videos and photos. Cheers
That last shot was absolutely unbelievable. Such a gorgeous photo. One of the things I appreciate about your channel is the number of different cameras you use: The Full-Frame Canon, the Crop Fuji, the latest "new" film camera. As someone who only owns one camera (Fuji X-T20), it's encouraging to continuously be reminded that while gear does in fact matter, the key is who is behind the camera (and of course, nature being cooperative). I can work with what I have without being discouraged, knowing that my gear is more than capable enough and I just need more practice and experience.
Whoa! A little cliff anxiety -- even on my end. Since we are watching, I assume you survived the trip back down. Love that you are back out (with a smile on your face) and that you took us along.
Liz Clayton my feet got a weird sensation when we see him cross those ledge!
Yeah I think I would have passed on hiking that ridge. I wonder what views the other trail offered.
Thank you, Thomas ! Excellent work! Really great journey!!!
What an amazing place. Great video Thomas...quite enjoyed it! Thanks!
Beautiful man. What a glorious night that was
Most impressive, in my opinion probably your best. All you tubers that I subscribe to are helping me recover from the triple bypass that I had last week. Be safe and be well.
Great to see the best of the best working together. Fantastic video!
The hand shot is a really good idea! Thanks, Thomas!
Fantastic as always Thomas! thanks for sharing and for the inspiration.
I sure am glad there are people like you getting those shots because there is no way I would trek that tiny little foot path to get up there. Will worth it to me to watch you do it.
fuji needs to sponsor you for capturing amazing photos using their product
Love these images and it was even better to see you excited about the shot.
Whoa - Absolutely Stunning Tom - All of it. 👌
Quick shot of the hand! What a good idea
Great video with some beautiful scenery, what an amazing place. Loved the photographs you took too.
Hi Thomas. My daughters bought me your book as a present. Outstanding and inspirational. Thanks!
Amazing scenery Thomas. Thanks you. Your shots's are amazing mate.
I get the excitement Thomas, absolutely beautiful!
Man, what an epic location! You can pretty much guarantee not many people have that lovely shot!
Really enjoyed this combination of photography and travel, so good! And great to see the insight in to your shots and gear.
Enjoyable video. Evoked the feeling of landscape photography, not many 'tubers manage it but you certainly have here.
watched this in 4K wow the detail & crispiness of the video is amazing!!
It's nice when you sit down for your lunch break at work and notice Thomas has uploaded a new video 39 seconds ago. Love the second image. Wonderful colors in the sky and water.
Same thing here lol
Gorgeous images from one of the most awe-inspiring locations I think I've ever seen you visit. Magnificent stuff!
Nice work, Thomas. My wife and I love your book too.
Tom another great video, What a place👌 two beautiful images loving the drone footage to 👍
Goes along with the not really planning thing. Unexpected path that lead to some awesome photography! Thanks Tom!
Love the "shooting the hand" trick, thanks.
Thanks for that handshot tip! Such a simple solution for something that is driving me nuts since ever I started experimenting with bracketing!
Mate, really upped your game 10x levels with this vid!
I love your videos. You inspire me to take photos.
Fantastic video Mr. Heaton. Thank you 🙏
That shot at 6:26 is just stunning. I dig the shot at 12:21 too. I think they work well as standalone images. Hope all is well man!
I'm also doing the hand thing. I use it a lot for HDR, exposing sky and foreground and stitch.
Each has it's own hand signal. Pretty handy when you have a lot of pictures ;)
although I have been shooting 20 years professionally everything is new to me with this Covid nightmare. Learning to use my hand as a separator it’s awesome well worth it watching someone walk on the mountain that I might Have done 30 years ago sketchy doesn’t even describe it
Time with you and Adam is time well spent. I would have fallen on that ridge no doubt. The older I get, the less sure I am about sketchy walks like that. Well worth it for those images. I'm looking forward to seeing how your film images from this trip turned out. Plenty of stuff to do volume II of your book in another few years.
Nothing like a bit of tense drama watching you walk that ridge. The islands look like they are just floating on the surface in the first image. Brilliant.👍🙂
I subcribed to your channel around 4 or 5 years ago. But sadly I gave up landscape photography like 3 years ago because of busy jobs, and never watch your video since then.. But suddenly i jumped to your video last week and thanks to your video i have a plan to start chase my passions on photography once again.. Love your jobs Thomas
You're mad you guys - things you do for vlogs and taking us along. Its appreciated, Tom. Nice one pal :)
Looks like a scary hike! I love your videos. Thank you
Great video, and great photographs (the first one, love it !), thank you for your work :)
I like watching you a thousand times better Tom, than doing the vlog in your office. I enjoy your takes a the B rolls and how you approach your angles..
That ridge you walked along would have stopped me, your final image was brilliant.
I am about to do some landscape of Oregon. I have no choice due to saving hitting a low. Need to make a difficult and sad choice to live out but the fun part is that I can edit and show you my landscape photos soon on my channel. But Thomas Heaton, thank you for giving me the push. I am thanking you because after listening to some of your videos, this will be the best choice for me and my mental health. So again, thanks for the strength, friend.
Wow, that is just gorgeous!
Nicely put together! That ridge is scary! Lucky you had a calm day!
The drone footage is just jaw-dropping, what a landscape. I can understand it's hard to photograph
Another great video Thomas. This was the first video of yours that I have watched that was interrupted by a commercial. Not that it is a problem, just something that caught me by surprise.
That’s such a epic location! So beautiful!
What a great video again! Was like a little journey for me right now 😍
Simply stunning
Dude! So good to see you back out traveling in the field. These are my favorite types of videos!!
Excellent light and shot! 🙌
I like the abstract image a lot, but this time I'm all in for the big colorful vista with the sky on fire. Lovely stuff!
Nice video, it is so beautiful there in Iceland! I especially love the second picture! And thanks for the tip on the hand in front of the lens after shooting a pano / other images that belong together, I've been doing this for a while now and it is so helpful..
Dont know why, but Icelandic landscape specially those higland views make me almost cry. Sad or happy, I dont know. But I just love those views and specially your photos from there. Magical place.
Visited one time Iceland but sadly wasnt able to visit higlands. Maybe next time I'm lucky.
I am feeling nervous for your trip down in the darkness!! great image of a beautiful place
Julie Holland I was thinking the same thing, you’re actually gonna walk down that in the dark
That water is so still and calm looking...
Good to see you back in the wild. PS. enjoying the book. Great to see the images in the flesh.
For me, the first composition was sublime, the tones sit perfectly with the environment. Nice work Tom 👍
love it. if I get a chance to listen to some music when on my hiking trips I always choose music like Delta Parole or Guns N Roses, the rawness is the best with nature.
A great one Thomas. Love the drone work in this as well as the still images. Sweet! And yes, that ridge looked very sketchy!
Super drone footage. Always seems to look sharper and more detailed than the camera video.
The images ❤️ the landscape ❤️ Adam's hair ❤️ the ridges though 😲
Love your last image and the drone footage was spectacular! Thank you for bringing me to an area I doubt I would ever have the guts or sure-footedness to go 😄👍
The drone footage was impressive and really adds to the video setting the scene.
The two images of the islands were fantastic.
The climb/walk along the ridge looks a bit buttock clenching mind!....I was surprised at the end that you were saying you needed to go back down because it was getting ‘a bit cold’ and not because of lack of light in which to do the decent!!
Doesn’t really get dark in Iceland that time of year.
I just got all amped up to do video, now I want to do landscape photos again haha. Thanks Thomas, great storytelling like always!
Thank you for sharing your awesome journey!
Iceland is awesome 👏 it is definitely on my wish list for film traveling 🎥 best cinematic greetings from a small 😉 german filmmaker
Absolute magic, friend. Loved the music around 9:30 as well!!
Thank you Thomas! You and Adam inspire me to get out there and do it! Only problem is the view of your trek. I've a bit of vertigo, so I don't think I could follow you up there!
Clearly the proof is in tjhe photos, and your good work. CHEERS!!
Love both images, those small islands are so beautiful. Must admit I was terrified watching you walking the ridge, very brave!
Stunning images. If that trip up was sketchy, I can’t imagine the trip down afterwards.
Jealous, very jealous! Love Iceland! Love that shot!
A video with three of my favorite landscape photographers! But as a sufferer of vertigo I found time on that knife edge ridge extremely disturbing - you would never get me up there. Glad you are safe.
Beautiful photography as always
Nice to see you out with friends for another epic adventure of landscape photography video that you get the chance to share with us all
And I see that you are using a small trailer with solar panels excellent
I'm so happy to see a great video after work. Thanks Thomas, cheers from italy
Nice landscape photo!
I could hardly watch that hike...sketchy? That was insane. Be careful boys!. Great image.
Young and fit to be carrying all that gear on your back, wow. great vlog as usual.
So pleasing to the eyes...! Best video of 2020 from T Heat! BTW, even the XT4's autofocus sucks, unless you've paired it that 12mm manual lens.... there's no question of it.
Wow ! Definitely one of your best shots ever !! That’s one for the next book ! Got the first one and love it !
Keeping some top notch company in your tour group, I spotted a couple of chaps who know their photography. I’d be learning as much as possible from them. Nice video!
I hope we get to see the film shots! I just got my first film camera, so far loving it.
The shots of the island were beautiful
I bet he'll have a video with the film shots soon. I'm looking forward to it too!
Amazing views, speechless!
Great drone footage (and X-T3 shots of course!) - bet you're glad it wasn't too windy on the Ridge of Death!!
Incredible scenery and location Wow - I don’t know how you manage to hike, taking incredible images, make a video and fly a drone! Pretty darn impressive.
