Imagine trump in his situation. He would’ve never stopped… I applaud Al Gore for putting country before himself, something the prior person I mentioned would never have done or ever will do…..
I don't think its appropriate to ask whether Gore losing the presidency cost him his marriage. That's far too personal, and its a low blow. As for the Florida recount, after the election we did have a full recount, and Bush still won. I might add that Bush also won Florida in 2004 when he was re-elected President.
Clinton fatigue was strong: Gore didn't talk to Bill for most of 2000, and after his loss, he blamed it on the President's scandals for costing him the white house.
Interesting Gore says here that he DID ask for a state wide recount. In all the recorded interviews I've seen on the issue from all the various participants, they all say Gore and his people only asked for a recount in 4 Florida counties. (?) In all documentaries on it, James Baker and Gores own team all say they only asked for a recount in 4 counties. I don't understand this at all. Gore seems to have revisionist thinking on this? Somebody is just flat wrong here - either Gore in this interview or everybody else involved in every other interview. (!?!)
Diane- your question at 4:03 about the Gores marriage was INEXCUSABLE. I thought nothing you could do would make me turn away from you but, sadly, no. I'm done.
Gore deserves scrutiny for letting it get so close. Yes he won fairly, it didn’t make him a good candidate, nor did it prove he had good political instincts

And Gore didn't win his home state of Tennessee, if you can't carry your home state you don't get to be president, it's a canary in the mine shaft.
True, he moved too far beyond his conservative constituents...should have been vague, instead of coming out for gay rights and abortion.
His brand was poison, the left doesn't like to admit it, but Clinton was a pariah in 2000.

With the exception of Reagan every president has worn out his welcome by the time he left, Gore is just being an excuse maker.
President Gore!....
This is a fantastic interview! Seriously a historical gem.
yes probably his best 1 ever

He didn't lose!
Right! they steal the presidency from him.
He did. He conceded. Democrats flipped to Bush in the election.

Theres a reason Diane only has 5K subscribers after all these years. Shes not a good interviewer.

Im so glad he never became President. I cant believe that woman asked him about his marriage like that.
