      @momentofzen Honestly, they might just die out as a party because of this. In another decade at the latest, climate change will no longer be a controversial issue in the U.S. (70% of people already agree humans cause it). And once that happens the backlash against Republicans for impeding change for over 30 years at that point will be immense.
      Edit: Damn, i didn't realize your comment's 3 years old lol, sorry

      Al Gore was indeed on the right side of history, just as Bernie Sanders was, he was defeated to our knowledge by a treasonous war hawk who should be rotting in jail for ignoring useful intelligence for weeks before 9/11 that religious fascists would attack the country. He so blatantly ignored it. Was it to gather the nation by him to approve actions a country that did not attack America? We don't know.

    • @gekkobear1650
      @gekkobear1650 7 лет назад +1

      ThePanicPuppet she spent time campaigning in southwestern states and didn't come close to visiting the rust belt. She didn't even set foot in Wisconsin. She ignored DNC data telling her the rust belt was contentious. Not to mention, she offered white rural voters no real policy they could get behind. She refused to adopt single payer, free college, and most of the progressive agenda. Only 25% of her campaign ads were policy based and even less of her speeches. Everything was a platitude or cliche. She was completely out of touch with what so many Americans wanted. Saying she won the popular vote by three million is fine, but that was against the weakest opponent possible. And she knew ahead of time exactly what states she needed to win. Hillary is a bad politician. I don't know why you would want to pretend otherwise. We need someone like Bernie if we want any hope of winning ever again. Saying "I'm not trump" is not enough. Saying "America is already great" is not enough. Americans wasn't real change and Hillary couldn't even pretend she wanted change. Once again, she is a crappie out of touch power hungry person who just wants to keep the status quo because it works for her. I don't even want to get into how morally bankrupt she is.

      It's an interesting thing to wonder for sure, but Lieberman went full dark side when he was the deciding vote against the public option becoming reality in 2008. Who knows how his position as VP could have changed the democratic party. We may still have wound up with the centrist, cowardly Democrats we have today :\

    A lot of people don't realize that although Al Gore double downed on climate activism following the election loss in 2000, his heart was invested in this endeavor long before this century, dating back to his senior year in college.
    Renowned cosmologist Carl Sagan had nice words to say about Al Gore in one of his final interviews. Gore was part of the Senate hearing in 1985 that heard Sagan famously warn Americans and the world about climate change.

      @wolv0223 7 лет назад +7

      Andrew, that may be good and all, if it actually went with his populism. But it doesn't, because a lot of people don't have stocks. So it's not helping a lot of the average joes from rural and suburban America that voted for him. Also, the stock market always goes screwy after an election. Every president since FDR has had a stock market increase int he first hundred days, aside from Carter, Eisnhower, and Bush '43. Trump caused the stock market to increase 5.5%. Bush '41 caused it to go up 7.8%, Obama 8.4%, and JFK got it up 8.7% and FDR... well, he got it up a whopping 86.5%, but that was the GD, so that was big, but the stock market was relatively low.
      Anyways, even still, a lot of growth isn't necessarily good. The Great Depression, the "dot.com" crash in 2000 or 2001, and the 2008 Great Recession all happened when the stock market had just spiked. If this is really just a bubble, then there is going to be some real shit when it pops.
