He and Frank Caliendo from Mad TV both received the same amount of recognition through the mid-2000s. Whereas Frank ran with that and created a fruitful comedy casino touring career, Darrell squandered it by drinking.

SCOTUS went against the will of the people and placed Dubbya as the new feudalistic corporate overlord of just letting terrorisms happen, dismantling the Constitution, invaded sovereign nations to steal their natural resources just like the British Empire, and war criming under the guise of "spreading freedoms." He quoted Tony Blair's MI6 Dossier that lied about WMDs in Iraq word-for-word in his 2002 State of the Union address. He's the grandson of a Nazi agent who tried to coup FDR in the Business Plot of 1933, Prescott Bush, and the son of a cold war 1-term president but 3 wars CIA spook father, H.W. Bush who many believe was behind the Reagan assassination attempt... Albeit, if he truly was, he wouldn't have missed.
Nothing is simpler about the year 2000, and all the hell it would unleash for decades to come. Anthrax & 9/11 & two foreign invasions & actual election fraud & the media blitz of apocalyptic Y2K fear-mongering on TV 24/7 leading up to the New Year where most of America legit thought the power grid and telecommunications were going down, and non-Mormons had been "prepping" doomsday bunkers where the hoarded the exact same ish that people selfishly hoarded in order to re-sell at a massive markup at the beginning of COVID. A soft coup is no better than a hard coup. A coup is a coup, and this one forever eroded the Constitution and true freedom of speech (not the hate speech all the right-wingers use to pretend they don't plan on destroying the 1st Amendment the first chance they get).
After Dubbya took office, nothing has ever been the same. We have TSA because of Bush. DHS & ICE, because of Bush. Domestic warrantless wiretapping and mass surveillance under the NSA, and with a lot of help from the British GCHQ to get around that 4th Amendment, because of Bush. 20 years of wars started under false pretenses, that bankrupted this country, enriched the richest people in the world creating the worst income inequality gap in the world, and destroyed America's global reputation for engaging in war crimes and never holding the war criminal, Dubbya, accountable. It made us hypocrites on the world stage.
Idk if you're just young, or not American, or working for a GOP crisis management PR Firm, but this is one of the crazier statements I've seen on social media... Which says a lot.
Hammond was great as Clinton, but I always thought he resembled Gore more.

I remember these events succinctly. It was rather a sad time. I'm glad Bush won since I'm from Texas. I think Gore having one would have been a better president. That just what I think.
