I worked security for this concert. Getting to run down the ramp with the band to hold the doors from adoring fans for the 5 encores was something I'll never forget. I was 15, it was the best summer of my life to this day.

    • @JohnMelanson

I disagree that "The Wheel" or any others were recorded in Central Park, I can hear myself shouting from behind the speakers. It's definitely an indoor recording. The Cape Cod Coliseum for sure!

If I had a dollar for every time someone says this was recorded at the particular show they went to I'd be rich ! ( see other peoples comments ) Its a fact that a majority of the album tracks were recorded at Wollman Rink Schaeffer Music Fest with several other tracks being recorded on other tour dates.

I am quite envious my friend! I was also 15 that summer, and would have given anything to have been at that show...I was still fortunate enough to see them a few years later at the Gardens in London, Ontario. What a performance. Take care!!

By far the best progressive rock music of the 1974 era. The transitions were built and incorporated like butter, smooth consistent array of guitar organs/ synthesizer .Funk .pop ,progressive rock and synth POP music all at once .For the individuals who saw this tour it was a hair raising experience, that will never be forgotten. I Had the pleasure of having front row seats along with the Nazz group members at the West Palm Beach Auditorium in the summer of 73. I had previously seen them one year before at Miami Beach convention center with Moogy/Ralph,Labat,Siegler,and Kevin Ellman who left the following year when Willie Wicox took over with exceptional power and speed. Good memories for all who attended.

Stephen R. same league different division with The Allman Brothers like at the Live at the Fillmore East and both Van Morrison's live Albums - Live a the the Grand Opera House - Belfast and A Night in San Francisco.
I know the Allman Brothers had the great Tom Dowd setting up and doing the recording.
I'm not sure on Todd or Van's who set up the mikes and so on, but this was masterful, especially "Another Life" with the horns.
      Man, this were master musicians.
It's recorded so well, it's almost like a studio recording with the exception of the clapping.
I saw Todd in 1977 at the New Victorian Theater in London when he was promoting his "Ra" album.
Instead of a backup band, Todd had a video he filmed.
A smallest theater with around 2,300 seats, really intimate as opposed to Earl's Court which has over 20,000 seats where Santana, McCartney, Grand Funk, and other groups played.

then you should help us stop crooked Prosecutors stealing taxdollars every day to jail HOT FEMALE SCHOOL TEACHERS in their 20s who are being arrested each day for fooling around with teen boys! ("Those poor boys!" say lying liars.)
(And then when the boys find out jailing the gal they loved will GET THEM RICH via a lawsuit, the boys LIE and claim they were raped!)
EVERY teen boy dreams of the hot female teacher, and many had their dreams come true (i wish mine had!) and now those females are GOING TO PRISON for 7 year stretches, for the most victimless and fake crime in history!

🎡The Wheel ( 7:26 ) can't tell you the many times I sang along, how about You? 🎤 The only thing better than a Todd Rundgren song is seeing the song in concert. I was lucky. The audience and the song were ONE, like looking at a spinning barber pole from above. 💈

I've been trying to get into TR the last few months after "discovering" the "real" TR. I was one of those who heard a couple of his pop hits in the 70s and thought that was it. Wrong. Took me till this year to find out about his real music. Now I listen to this album for the first time and he plays a song from my favorite band of all time- YES - "Something's Coming". Then he does an ELO song-another band that I dig. That's it. I'm officially a Todd Rundgren fan from now on!!

    •  7 лет назад +3

the song Something's Coming is from
Leonard Bernstein from the musical West Side Story

An immortal record. Will be popular 100 years from now. Still think they were better in '74 with Kevin Ellman on drums. One of the best 10 live bands I have ever seen/heard, just behind the Big 4, CSNY, and Davis, Coltrane, et al. Underrated doesn't cover it - just grateful they recorded it.
