@@VanHinten1 Agreed. Its just as great as every 911 made for the past 50 years. They just add 10-20% more power every few years. Very refined cars indeed (perhaps the best the 911 will ever be). But electric cars are the future and in are still in their early infancy of development. The next Model S and the Lucid Air are already lapping Luguna Secca sub 1:31 times while running low 9s and 8s in the 1/4 mile. By this time next year these two 1100 hp monster will be roaming the streets in complete silence (as daily drivers).
Watching Randy put any car into that corkscrew is always satisfying
I LOVE when they show the Porsche come flying SO SMOOTHLY around curves and bends! The video shows this car is SO STABLE flying around corners. It is one of the most satisfying things to see in ANY car!

911 Turbo S and Z51 were on regular road tires, the others were on stickier R-compound tires during the test.
Updated with all Randy Pobst lap times on Laguna Seca (mostly from previous BDC laps).

The AWD and rear engine configuration really helped it alot!!! AWD making it accelerating out of corners like a rocket giving it that time.
That is an amazing machine. The fact that it does it with "only" 6 cylinders is even more awesome. All of its true competitors have at least 8 cylinders. My hats off to Porsche for making such a fantastic car.
Turbo S overperfoming as usual. Only tenth slower than the Huracan EVO on Trofeo Rs

@@saltyfloridaman7163 The GT2 RS would not have more mechanical grip than a Turbo S on Cup 2R. RWS plus AWD is about as good as it gets. On tighter tracks the Turbo S would give the GT2 RS a run for its money.

I could watch Randy lap cars around a track forever....great stuff. Maybe next year you can organise a control tire so that all the cars are on the same. An R compound would show the true potential of the car so that makes the most sense I guess.

The Porsche 911 Turbo S with road tires is as fast as the F8 with R-compound tires which should be 2 seconds faster. Impressive.
The f8 wasn’t on R tyres, it isn’t even a buyable option

To those who have never launched a modern Turbo S, I can tell you it feels like warp speed. They are VIOLENT cars. Especially tuned. I expect this to win the drag race.
MrSchn3ll only quicker if tuned with race gas. Actually slower if tuned running pump gas.

I can only imagine how fast it is on Corsas, let alone Trofeo Rs. I'm not a Porsche guy, but they do a great job of making a car that isn't entirely dependent on the tire for its performance (cough, cough, Corvette, Viper ACR, Huracan, cough).

Turbo S is just THE car. Nothing comes close not even 5 times the price Cars.
Probably the only car I'd consider if I won the lottery megabux. I'm not interested in exotic looking attention grabbers. I like AWD, performance, comfort, practicality and understatedness.

Looking at these hot laps and it looks like most of the cars are pretty much the same on cornering speeds. So the time differences are made in braking and acceleration.

Love this series and heading Randy’s feedback, but why why why didn’t they equalize the tires???
They are required to run what the manufacturer gives them. Ford has been smart by consistently giving them fully spec'd examples w/ the stickies available tires. Idk why the others don't do this.

That 911 didn't disappoint
Would love to drive with randy, such a soul. Just makes me mad on every rainey turn, he takes it so hard on the inside!!! He can shave a good two seconds off by falling down into left side at begining of rainey/end of cork(which he always does) THEN, hug to the right edge before (left turn) apex back left into the apex!!! Silly guy, but wonderful drive! My dream💚

I am disappointed as well, but Randy almost always gives it several laps, and his first lap is usually the fastest. I feel like this is a bit too much more tamed vs the C7...though maybe the higher end versions will wake the beast.
Old one on R tires. New one on street tires.
@@pokest225 As far as I am aware they are all on factory tires, and the Z51 has never come with R-compound tires.
The Grand Sport did have R-compound tires, but that was 2.2 seconds faster than the C8 Z51.

The gap between stock and race cars is narrowing so fast...one thing's for sure, I'm going to make my kid play Gran Turismo 2 on PS2 before getting a modern system and then buy a golf 2 GTI stick as a first car before upgrading! Gotta humble them youngins on old school knowledge before becoming a hypebeast. My first car living in West Covina was a 1981 Fiat Spider 2000, between 2003-2005. Literally nothing worked other than the engine, gas gauge, and headlights lmaooo I appreciate my 2014 Ford Fusion EcoBoost 1.5T so much more haha
