You're lucky they shipped your exhaust pipes in a box. I ordered full exhaust for my S3 from UK and they shipped to Kenya as bare pipes with a shipping label taped on. Luckily they arrived unscathed. But fumbling around in my gravel driveway to install them I managed to get a piece of gravel in the pipe and now I have a lovely jingle every time I start up the Landy.
Ordinarily I would baulk at a 48 min video. But when it has Geoffery Croker’s name to it, you know it won’t be long enough. Absolutely superb and better than anything you’ll get on “pay TV”.
Laying. Laying on my couch. Old soldier’s mantra - don’t run if you can walk, don’t walk if you can stand still, why stand if you can sit, lay down instead of sitting, lay down and watch videos of some mad Kiwi fixing his old Landy if at all possible.
Totally agree on Emberton (and in the UK, they are also on eBay as well) - Great to see the next video up, Sooooo many tips to be had for my next project (1983 Series III 109) - looking forward to the next one.
Project Binky ain't got nothing on Aaron Cake who has been working on his Mazda Cosmo in Canada for about 12 years now. I don't know if I'm allowed to point this out, but just soldering a new larger OD end on the vacuum pipe, without adding the extension, would have allowerd you to use "any old hose" instead of a 40 year old NOS part. It's great to see it running!
The annual video drops! Awesome!!!! By the way my ex military defender came with a painted diff cover for silent convoy mode, the light underneath then lit something up for the driver behind to follow.
Entertaining, thanks! I always open your videos smiling at why anyone would want to be working on an archaic shitbox with imperial fasteners and 11 horsepower…and finish the video with a vague hankering to go and buy one…
If you plug in and out the Makita battery several times on the charger you can change the jingle that plays at end of charge. One of the jingle slots is blank so you can turn it off. There is even a Für Elise and others, lol.
While waiting for you I have had to watch an Australian rebuilding a S1 - can you just imagine? HE is a kicker, biter and a spitter. You sir, are dangerously close to becoming a rivet-counter. I love it. Keeps me going on my own not-project, and you are doing some of the best of type content I know of. Brilliant. Cheers from KZN South Africa.
One or two days ago I was thinking damn it has been a long time since I've seen a video about the land Rover and looked at your channel to see if I missed something. Now this is in my feed... Very nice
Currently my dads 1983 110 v8 county is being comletely restored. I have followed this series since the beginning and reccomended the series to my dad a few years back i'm pretty sure its's the reason ours is getting restored. Absolutely love your video's btw, keep it up!!
Emberton are great, have bought quite a few bits off them - had Charles call me up from his own mobile to check I was OK with a substitution they had to make once. That's customer service.
Haha, yeah, but ever time I fumble putting the battery in, it changes tune again. Infuriating! And why don't the damn things come with an easy way to screw them down?! Rage!!!!
Very entertaining as per usual Mr Croker. You're attention to detail is fantastic. I can't wait to see your face after it's completely covered in mud after our big 4WD trip 😁😁
Now everyone do your part, find a Land Rover and fix one thing on it. How many viewers do you think it'd take to get the world's fleet in tip-top shape...
Amazing video as always. I have a series 2 sitting there waiting for the restoration to magically start. Your attention to detail is incredible. How on earth did you mangae to spot that divet in the bottom of the fuel tank. It would never of crossed my mind to even check it. You should do this full time.
New tank? New fill covers? Sealing? What would be the point in parking it on your best mates brand new tarmac driveway if it doesn't leak? It bypasses the whole point of having a Landrover.
Makita chargers is the best. You can change the sound. Just take the battery out and in and you get new songs or just a "piip" I occasionally change the songs randomly on construction sites. So when the people come in and charge during lunch, there is a commotion when all the batteries are fully charged.
woot woot!! so happy to see the next iteration on this saga!, even though they take a while to appear; it always makes my day when I see a new ep!; thanks for sharing! :D
I have to go back to your original channel to review all the work all in one go haha. Also, Once this is done, I hope you do a 1-2 hour MEGA edit! Just amazing work!
So pleased to see another video, I recommend these videos to all who want to understand the foibles of a Series Land Rover, so clearly explained with humour and great music. Found this video late at night and stayed up way too late to watch it. Totally worth it. On a side note, another vote for Emberton Imperial. I have visited the Emberton premises in the UK and met Charles who is very helpful. He is a top bloke and any issues are instantly resolved. His stuff all works, not a lottery like some other retailers. He commissions new manufacture of a lot of bits and pieces not available elsewhere.
Good to see you working on the Landy again. My friend has a series 3, but it's not as pretty as yours. Trust me, I've been elbow deep inside it's greasy heart too often. Regards, Preso
Please give us an update sooner than 18 months, ive missed this Rover so so much! The amount of work youve done is incredible, the level of detail is unpar with any other build
Great progress, such an exciting milestone! Loved the video, thanks for keeping up with the project and not getting sidetracked with other project cars
Mr. Croker, Thank you so much for your detailed information and common sense approach to your Landie resto. Could I ask your sage advice please. I’m in the thick of a series 3 resto and am about to purchase a new exhaust. Question for you, why did you choose a stainless steel exhaust over a standard steel number? From a quick web search they look to be twice the price. Are they twice as good? Many thanks
@ 40:25 I mean, that guy just broke his back in 17 places.... But the fuel tank didn't crack..... Heh heh heh heh heh!!!! No kidding.... How long was that stunt driver in the hospital?????
Damn I'm so excited today my Lightweight arrives. I'm a fifty something guy and I am buzzing today can't wait to get stuck in to the old crusty rust bucket. Two hours to go. Thanks for the content you are doing an awesome job..
OH MY GOD! Have you any idea how much work is involved recalling all those search parties? Look Geoffrey. I live 8 miles away from the Solihull factory and walking distance from a genuine L.R. Parts Dealership and driving a Land Rover is still on my “to do” list. That said if you need help getting parts and think that I can help? I could probably walk them to your house in 19 months.
End of project Binky? Nah.. that's fresh. Nah, end of project Cosmo, by Aaron Cake... 👹 ho ho ho ho edit: you can fix your old fuel tank, you know? It's not like you'll blow up after all this time empty. But if you REALLY feel like not trying because of it, just fit it up to your exhaust and let the car run for a while. Any fuel vapors will be gone in 5~10 minutes.
Restoring a Land Rover is becoming an odyssey. Before long have to fight a one-eyed Ford owner, revert the curse of being turned into a pig by a Honda Civic. Fighting the siren call of Toyota Corollas. Then, MAY BE able to have a fully built Land Rover. And I know. I left out parts. Really, I was not going to write an odyssey in this comment.
Perfect Sunday morning viewing. Ever thought of doing a co-presentation with Marty-T. Between the two of you I'm certain you'd be able to find that Land Rover with a good battery in a paddock/barn/living room somewhere.
Geoffrey, great to see that "little blue plant" back where it belongs. Nice job on the restoration from start to almost finished. Now to wait another 18 months for the next instalment (I joke, but I could be right). That little Rover is going to be a satisfying ride when it's back together. I am "assuming" you have made a bit more over head door space, so you can park it inside with it's roof on. Why folks build garages with low over head doors escapes me (must be a south of the equator thing). Thank you so much for posting the video, nice to see things progressing along. Cheers from North of the Equator (where we have higher overhead doors on our garages)! Stay Safe!
Oh christ! What the hell!! AT LAST. Dear god man how long does a chap have to wait? For the love of all things holy gain 1 million subs give up your job and just restore old land rovers on youtube for the next 10 years or until i die. Thank you in advance...😅
Hi Geoff, do you know the fact you can change the sound of the Makita Charger. Plug in a Akku and release under 2sec and directly plug in. This will change the sound. One mode is without sound for "video mode"😅
I have some BA screws in the shed if that is helpful 🤔. Enjoyed the update, look forward to the 2026 video showing the test drive 😊 In all seriousness great work and dedication especially considering the availability of parts to you 😃
I loved and laughed way too much about the Project Binky reference,,, well played Geoffrey 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Well done getting the engine running again, next wheels and running a bare chassis up the driveway grinning like a mad man 👍
I can believe you used a needle nose to move a hot piece of metal .... I would have done something different and got burned. Why because that's why... Ok I am not that smart.. I have an engineering masters so it is expected... Thank you, enjoying the journey. Best wishes from up over in Minnesota USA.
Wait, did Binky end already? Seriously? I actually always thought they wanted competitively drive that thing some time in a nondescript distant future .....
Btw, you can turn off the music on the makita chargers. By quickly re-plugging a battery you can cycle threw different melodies, including off. At least on mine this worked.
Yessss! Please buy an other used Land Rover, for the battery and for showing us how to make it work. IE renovate it completely. BTW have you seen Those two fantastic germans in LR time? That is also a great channel about Range Rovers.
I think you need neurological testing because you are bound to be on the spectrum somewhere, what with your obsessive attention to detail! Joking aside, whenever one of your videos gets uploaded its always a blessing to watch and I think its downright criminal you only have the number of subs that you do! Also looking forward to an update on the Disco which always reminds me of your line when driving it home "Sheep-infested Darien Gap!" Cheers!
Painted diff cover was a mil spec thing I think. UV convoy lights would pick out the diff of the vehicle in front, allowing a convoy to travel in darkness. At least, that's my understanding
I love this build. But I cannot understand why you order some parts from the other side of the earth, when you can probably easily make them yourself out of sheets of stainless. Or have someone make them. Almost none of the parts you order (especially those exhaust brackets) seem to be complicated at all. And why do you solder? You’re a good fabricator and welder. Why do you buy parts?!
You can repeatedly insert & remove a battery from the Makita charger to change the tune. They come from the factory with several pre-programmed jingles. If your charger's like mine, one of the "tunes" should be a simple beep.
Hahaha the project Binky joke had me rolling from the first minute!
It was harsh. Hit me right in the feels.
@@philippayne1544 Hit BOM right in the brackets!
i missed it 🤦
I'm off to watch the end of Project Binkie!
Oh wait.
Fierce burn Mr Croker!!
Having to wait 18 months (where did the time go?) just to see him struggle to put a round shaft in a round hole. But totally worth it
I'm a simple man: I see the CROKER, I see the ROVER. Thumbs up baby.
Same here, haven't even watched the video yet
+1 me too.
You're lucky they shipped your exhaust pipes in a box. I ordered full exhaust for my S3 from UK and they shipped to Kenya as bare pipes with a shipping label taped on. Luckily they arrived unscathed. Pink Floyd and Land Rover…could you ask for more?!!?!?!? ❤
I cant finish my car without the full series of this build, so I’m stoked about a new upload!😎
I’m pretty sure you’ll be travelling Norway in yours before I even fit a wheel 😂

Excellent surprise waking up to a new video in this series!
Totally agree on Emberton (and in the UK, they are also on eBay as well) - Great to see the next video up, Sooooo many tips to be had for my next project (1983 Series III 109) - looking forward to the next one.

speaking of Aaron Cake, my Cosmo senses are tingling.
That would not have been a bad idea... 😅
😂, Trus in every sense of the word.
Plug in and unplug the battery in the makita charger to change the tune it plays when the battery is plugged in/finished charging.
This.
Beat me to it
The annual video drops! Awesome!!!! By the way my ex military defender came with a painted diff cover for silent convoy mode, the light underneath then lit something up for the driver behind to follow.

New video? Excited. New Series 3 video? Change my pants.
Wow at the bracket mounting of the PCV valve you had me laughing out loud like I almost never do watching youtube..
Extremely relatable!
Came for the humour, stayed for the content. So glad to see more Croker Rover!
Loved the Binky joke.....was drinking out of my BOM mug when I spat my tea out 😂
Thanks Geoffrey, your videos are like a solar eclipse or other important astronomical event. Rare but they get people excited all over the world.
The patience of a saint, rust and british engineering is a deadly combo
If you plug in and out the Makita battery several times on the charger you can change the jingle that plays at end of charge. One of the jingle slots is blank so you can turn it off. There is even a Für Elise and others, lol.
Came here to say just this.
We are back baby! ❤
Great vid. Been missing the rover progress 🤙🤙

HE’S BACK!!!! Awesome to see your videos as ever, you’re probably my favourite channel on YT. Keep up the amazing work!
An audible gasp alerted the folks at this lunch establishment to the reality of a new Croker video ❤️😂

I use the charts all the time to do conversions to metric, best merch ever.
I missed your videos bro! I appreciate your humor. These are always entertaining videos to see good quality British engineering.
You're a clever and witty fella. Thanks for the video. It's terrific of course.
Missed this series! Glad to see it back. As much as I love this disco project, this one is my favorite.
Been looking forwards to this update for a while :) Nice work! Good idea on making your own brackets in the future.
Well, we'll see. I probably should have tried before I said I would 😬
One or two days ago I was thinking damn it has been a long time since I've seen a video about the land Rover and looked at your channel to see if I missed something. Now this is in my feed... Very nice

13:30 - Unplug and plug in the battery and it'll change tunes to a simple beep (there are around 5 tunes)
Yeah I was going to suggest this too - if you plug in the battery, pull it out briefly and then pop it back in then it’ll change tunes
Haha, yeah, but ever time I fumble putting the battery in, it changes tune again. Infuriating! And why don't the damn things come with an easy way to screw them down?! Rage!!!!

I’m working on a defender 110 just now and just bought 2, lightweight landrovers
So glad you're back, more videos soon please.

Great to see the landy back. It’s looking good and that engine sounds smooth.
So good to have this pop up, thanks!
A new Croker Land Rover video will never fail to stop me in my tracks and drop everything else.
I've welded hundreds of petrol tanks just fill them with water then you get no fumes
Loved it, thank you for taking the time to share.
Thanks Geoff for being the inspiration to work on both my car and my youtube videos at the same time.
Looking (and sounding) so nice Geoff. I had forgotten about the Series project 😊
I can't thank you enough for making these.
Good to see you back. It's odd seeing you working to make all the bits fit on what looks like a new engine with fresh paint and shiny bits.
Yeah, there's always loose ends!
HE'S BACK!
Please give us an update sooner than 18 months, ive missed this Rover so so much! The amount of work youve done is incredible, the level of detail is unpar with any other build
Hi mate the original tanks are outies. Yours is a rare one. Also the rear fixing should have the thread at the top.
Am I the only one who put the thumbs up after the first second? Especially after starting with a Pink Floyd intro
Great progress, such an exciting milestone! Loved the video, thanks for keeping up with the project and not getting sidetracked with other project cars
I would never.....!
Mr. Croker,
Thank you so much for your detailed information and common sense approach to your Landie resto.
Could I ask your sage advice please.
I’m in the thick of a series 3 resto and am about to purchase a new exhaust.
Question for you, why did you choose a stainless steel exhaust over a standard steel number?
From a quick web search they look to be twice the price.
Are they twice as good?
Many thanks
I don’t think I had a choice. Paddock spares had reasonable shipping and ss is what they sell.
Champion!
Really appreciate the info mate thank you.
Stay classy 😉
Not a painted diff cover!!! This reminded me of the timeless line, "Not to 50!!!" Absolute legend
