Hey Eric. Just wanted to say your channel has been such an inspiration for me. My freshman year of hs I was the worst player in the perc section, I was so unbelievably bad. Then I discovered your channel which inspired me to make a change. I practiced every day, by the end of my sophomore year I was the section leader. Last week I auditioned on snare for an indoor percussion group and yesterday I received an email offering me a spot on snare. Sorry if I sound like a rookie, this is my first marching percussion experience outside of hs band. Just wanted to say thank you for making your videos and your channel has changed my life and helped me do what I love. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
I don't normally dish out compliments casually but damn watching you play the weird instruments you've made underscores what a talented percussionist you are lol
You have been an inspiration to me since I found your channel, and I’m on my way to my first competition right now. Wish me luck, and thank you for your amazing content!
Hi! I just started marching band and you inspire me so much :) I love watching your videos!! Although I am a clarinet player (who wants to switch to drums so bad) I want to be good at what I play because of you!! ❤
And the best part is all you really need to practice percussion is just a pair of sticks and some surface with either some bounce or no bounce like a pillow
Great video! I lost it when you brought out the chickens and monkey! Best drum video I have seen in a long time, looks like it was a fun project to do. You must have spent days editing!
Hey Eric, this video was amazing! I really loved the marimba part with the super Mario brothers 3 song. Can you post the sheet music I would love to play it myself and maybe more mario songs?
Missed an opportunity to have a joke where you'd say: "This is a flub drum, it sounds like this:" and then just have you playing with no sound :D :D :D
10:59 When will you get behind it again? XD My gosh, the setup and breakdown for everything must have taken forever. But what fun! I love the Corolla Song, haha. But.... but where was the drum bike?? Or has that one gone to the great beyond?
I have watched and liked a number of your videos but first time commenting. I find it funny that your largest bass drum is 24in. When I was marching in band in 1987-1990 our smallest bass drum was 32 in and it was carried by a female. I marched the second to largest bass drum my freshman year which was a 42 in. When I was a senior I moved to the Slingerland tri-toms our school had which were 14, 16 and 18 in. that only lasted for about a month then we got new Yamaha equipment and I played the 10, 12, 13, 14 in quads. There were other schools with larger budgets in our area that did have "quints" at that time but the bass drums were still much larger than the ones carried today. Sideline percussion wasn't a thing yet and we also marched a bass guitar with an amp that had a twin 15 in speaker cabinet. Since reliable wireless connections were still very expensive at the time the marching band recruited non instrument playing students to push the amp on the field for shows and parades. We used a marine battery with an inverter to power the amp on the field and parades but it was powered through an extension cord for playing in the stands. Also we didn't use any instrument stands for marching equipment at all, so whenever we played our marching percussion we had it on the carrier this included all practices in the band room and playing in the stands.
@@BandNerd6000 So? I have been a percussionist for 20 years (of which 10 in a top level amateur concert band). I know what I'm talking about as well. A beatring is very often mistaken for tambourine, but it just isn't the same instrument.
Just to let you know, those HHX hi hats are upside down. The cymbal with only the sabian logo is the bottom, and the one with the HHX logo is the top one. Only reason it matters is because the top one is thinner than the bottom.
What percussion instrument should I buy next?
5-piece timpani set
Get a daf it’s Middle Eastern and is played with your hands
A door
Set of wine glasses?
A cajon would be cool
No one gonna mention how this man just casually produced straight fire with a car
