I always regretted never beating this game and forever wondered how it ended. Seeing this is a little bit happiness and can die happy finally seeing the ending. 8)
I was never able to beat this game. I was stuck on the last level and couldn’t figure out how to get around it because I think I had to beat some kind of game from cranky Kong to the extra points or some kind of incentive to get to the next level and I could never get past that part.

I think that’s the joke on the developers part. Even if you don’t finish the game with a 101% DK still has a full golden banana horde implying that he went and found them afterwards, just doing it during the adventure is more convenient on the Kong’s part. You also only need a handful of collectibles to beat the game, hell if you’re skilled enough you only need one blueprint to beat hideout helm. The amount of collectibles are there simply for replay value, but as I said, the developers put so much in the game I doubt they actually planned any actual rewards, so a Joke ending imply the game’s a movie like SM64 was probably something they came up because the idea of someone going out of their way to get everything was funny to them and/or they really didn’t plan anything else. Side Note: not defending the developers, but I’m trying to say something that would make sense from their perspective.
