Donkey Kong Country 2 True Ending Speedrun in

- This is a single segment speedrun of Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, played on a North American SNES console, and completed in 39 minutes, 55 seconds. This run attempts to obtain the "true ending" to DKC2 as fast as possible by completing all Lost World levels and defeating K. Rool at Krocodile Kore. To do this, a developer "cheat" is used in the first level to gain access to 75 Kremkoins immediately.
This run uses many of the glitches and strategies used in an Any% run, with the difference being the completion of the Lost World levels instead of all World 6 and World 7 levels (excluding Arctic Abyss). The run itself is much easier than an Any% run, as well as being a faster run overall.
This is an improvement over my 40:58 True Ending run, with a majority of the time (about 55 seconds) being saved due to a new wrong warp being discovered in Bramble Scramble.
The biggest mistakes of this run come from taking unintentional hits in Jungle Jinx & Black Ice Battle, which cost over 15 seconds combined. There was also some poor movement in the other Lost World levels (especially Animal Antics). However, this run gets perfect luck, getting both fakeless on Krow 1 & right spawn on Krow 2, making the run seem much better than it is. I'd estimate a low 39:3X or a high 39:2X would be a really good time for this category now, but I'm not sure if anyone will ever bother going for it.

This game is harder than 98% of games that are out today.
It's not that hard, I beat it when I was a kid. Pretty forgiving honestly. Some of the bonus levels are well hidden I suppose, but as long as you listen to Cranky, you should be alright.

In my opinion Donkey Kong Country Returns and Tropical Freeze are much harder than the originals.

@@ryanbradley248 I disagree. The new ones have much more forgiving mechanics (more damage can be taken, items, etc.) They might have more complex enemies but that's about it.

The second level is a glitch exploit that could have crashed the game as the barrel was a randomly generated object that didn't even skip the level. It set a flag that the level was complete and dumped the player out on map. Also you can't jump in midair with Dixie. First level of the second world he skipped the exit sequence. This isn't what I'd call a legit run. In my opinion exploiting glitches for a speedrun isn't a true speedrun. The legit ones take a lot of player skill.

This is one of the most impressive runs in video game history. It seemed like there wasn't a single mis-timed movement or one unintentionally caused enemy hit (for better timing). Bravo 👏

I’m 37 years old now.. this music and gameplay instantly gets me emotional. DKC1 and DKC2 were the only 2 games that ever really impressed my father. I sat in my room and played games from when I was 5, until pretty much when I moved out. My father never came into my room and actually watched me play any of my games during all of those years…. But …. These 2 games? He was fascinated. He couldn’t get over the music, and the graphics. I felt such intense happiness when he would watch me play these games. I’d go through each level with a smile on my face. Out of the thousands of gameplay videos I’ve watched on RUclips, this particular game is the one that makes me cry. My father’s been gone for almost 12 years now, and I have 2 sons of my own, a 2 year old and a newborn. I’m going to make sure I spend so much time with my kids, and show interest in their hobbies. My father didn’t show very much interest in mine, or spend much time with me. I know I’ve gone a bit deep with this comment, but that’s how good this game was, and still is to me. It reminds me of that intense happiness I had while playing it. It reminds me of my father. This single game holds so much power over me. I absolutely need to get a retro pi set up with emulators, just so I can relive those days. 😢

30:38-31:25 is THE DEFINITION of self confidence; HOLY BALLS.
So much better than watching a tool “assisted” speed run on an emulator. Also, for a game series featuring cartoon monkeys, this is probably the most epic intelligently designed platformer every made. They just don’t make platformer games like this anymore. Beautiful art and sound. Pure skill and adrenaline.

Definitivamente me quede sin palabras al ver tu impresionante destreza en este juego, especialmente en el nivel Parrot Chute Panic 30:40, aunque me hubiera gustado ver como pasabas todos los niveles sin necesidad de usar los warps. No quiero imaginar todo el tiempo que te habra tomado lograr adquirir ese nivel de juego, seguramente debes tener demasiado tiempo libre y nada de obligaciones o responsabilidades para haberte dedicado a especializarte en este cartucho.
Es un speedrun Any, todo glitch, atajo, warp esta permitido de manera de que el jugador complete el juego

Web Woods is likely my least favorite level in all of DKC2. I was thinking, "Oh, this level takes forever." And then, then it didn't.
Yeah, when he got to web woods, I prepared myself to be frustrated with how easy of a time he would have.
I didn't prepare myself enough.
Even though I knew it'd be flawless. I was still nervous watching him go through that level. Kept waiting for a screwup

What is the thing with the beetles and warp barrels. never seen that. and some of the normal ones like the first level of the second world, I think I would of found that I've 100 % beat this many times. maybe I just missed then. there were a lot more warps than I thought
Invisible barrel warps, you hold something that doesnt exist, jump in a barrel and warp the level or gain a lunch boost (at lunch barrels). The 2-1 lvl, he made the invisible barrel thing and jumped into a warp barrel (try jumping there youll find out)
