  • Plaid sent me some new paint to try out! It's Plaid FX, a paint specifically designed for cosplay projects, and even more specifically, as a flexible paint for EVA foam! In this video I am testing out some random colours on a few different densities of foam to see how flexible it really is.
    Full Disclosure: Plaid sent me the paint for free, however they did not pay me to make this review video.

    I have a question for anyone who may be able to answer it.
    I have a cosplay for Kirin Armor from the game Monster Hunter, this includes the Kinsect Glaive (the weapon) also made from the Kirin set. The weapon in the game is very shimmery and shiny because Kirin is a dragon/unicorn and so it's very shimmery. I'm looking for paints that are good for cosplay and are shimmery I need dark blue, light blue, and purple because the weapon fades through those colors.
    But does anyone know what brands are good for these kinds of paints? Newbie cosplayer here.
    Also love this channel its helped me out a bit with my attempts!

    • @whoahanant
      @whoahanant 3 года назад

      @Gabrielle Soucy Thank you! It went really well, though I didn't paint the glaive with any shimmery paints. I'm actually redoing the top of the glaive again since I got some new tools (last time I only had handheld tools) and since it was such a crazy build it was a bit difficult but came out great! So I will look into this paint. Thanks for the tip!

    Have you tried adding Mod Podge to your acrylic paint to help prevent cracking. I'm about to try it on a pair of cheap sneakers and hoping I don't end up with cracked paint on the bottom soles of the shoes. Just an idea.

    • @LostWax
      @LostWax  Год назад +1

      I haven't tried it, but I feel like Mod Podge isn't gonna add any flexibility, as it dries quite hard. At east the mod lodge I have used in the past. I realize there are now about a billion different types of Mod Podge, so there could very well be something that would work. I'd love to hear if it works for you!!

      @@LostWax I mixed the 'Matte Mod Podge' with a neon green acrylic paint to paint the sides of the soles on my sneakers. And then used the 'Dishwasher-safe Mod Podge' as a sealer. Say I wanted to paint a dark red pvc boot black … the pvc is pretty strong so I think it should be okay but what if it did and I want to remove it, how would one go about removing this flexible paint? Have you tried removing it from your shoes by chance?

    • @LostWax
      @LostWax  2 года назад

      I didn't dry removing the paint from my shoes, I think you'd have to scratch it off, which would leave your shoes looking not that great. Also, I am not sure how well the paint will stick to PVC, you'd want to do a few tests first. Sorry I can't be more helpful......

    I wonder if the flexibility level increases if you use their primer first? I first learned of this new line from Odin Makes, but was put off by the high cost. Since I don't do a lot of cosplay I'll just stick with Folk Art. (Note: Plaid is not accepting any orders right now due to the virus.)
