- We really love Plaid FX flexible acrylic paints and use them on a wide variety of pieces - even ones that aren't flexible! We did a quick video to show how we get a brushed metal look on our urethane rubber pieces.

I used Liquitex Basic Acrylic paint (Gold) on my urethane 1989 Keaton Utility Belt. Tested the paint on the back of it and it worked well. Used that same brushing technique you were using and it turned out great.
Sweet effect! Great work. Subbed!
Thank you!
Can you use the primer as a base coat and top coat?
Absolutely!
will this stay on rubber that toys are made of like rubber snakes?
Probably? We use it on urethane rubber all the time which is likely what the snakes are made of. We recommend thoroughly cleaning the rubber first with something like 91/99% IPA or Acetone.
@@SionnachStudios Turn out the "rubber" is actually vinyl. The FX paint did not stick well with some slightly rough handlining of the prop. I cleaned with acetone AND used 3m tape primer before air brushing with the FX paint. I still like the paint but someone needs to make/find a tough topcoat for this paint. Top coating with existing "art" products is not acceptable as theses existing products do not bend like the FX paint.
@@JC-ms2rz It might not help in your specific case but the Plaid FX "primer" is white but dries clear and we have frequently used it as a top coat over their paint to help seal and keep it flexible.
does the paint work on plastic toys?
In theory it should as long as the plastic is prepped. There are many kinds of plastics used in toys but as long as the surface is cleaned and prepped properly, this paint should work on just about any plastics.
@@SionnachStudiosDoes this paint chip/flake off after a while? or is it on there for the long haul?
