Some time ago we visited the locations of the Great Pyramids of Giza, the Valley of the Kings, and the Sphinx. I think this exhibit is marvelous. I would love to go there. Thanks for bringing this to our attention, Micah.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 🇪🇬
I saw the original exhibit in 1977 at the Field Museum in Chicago. The funerary mask was encased in a rectangular box made od fiberglass on a pedestal. You could walk completely around it to view it from all angles. Then I realized the bottom of the box was also clear fiberglass. Being a kid (14) I got on the floor & looked up because I wanted to see what it would be like to have that mask lowered onto your face. I’ll NEVER forget. All along the interior there are columns of hieroglyphics painstakingly hand carved even into the nooks & crannies of his face! I was about to change my position on the floor to see if anything was carved on the interior of the mask along the backside, but I was dragged away by 2 security guards & 4 more came running! One told me I was lucky to not be arested. One of the best memories of my life. I went on to study archaeology & hold a doctorate.
You did a good job filming this. Seeing all the layers of King Tut's tomb makes me think they probably didn't want people tampering with It. Thanks for the tour.
Amazing....that Museum is awesome.... what a great exhibition...... not too long ago NOLA had an Egyptian exhibit at the muesm, but it was no where as nice as that one... it also kind of reminds me of the stuff they have at Luxor hotel in Vegas.... it has recreation of king tuts things.... some real, but alot of recreation.... big rooms like that..... We had a class trip to a museum in NYC to see king Tut when it was the biggest thing back in 77.
