2:11 That someone though to give the goodest boy a blanket is so touching. You can still see the wrinkles in the fabric where the hand of the person who last touched it thousands of years ago pulled it tight around the neck.
Having recently seen the Rameses The Great exhibit, and what little was actually left behind by grave robbers, l'm glad that archeologists and historians beat the thieves to King Tut's tomb.
You raise an excellent point there. I was conflicted in making this video as my initial thought is that everything should be left alone. But, as you say, they still exist for all to see, whereas grave robbers who have decimated many tombs would have destroyed them from their original state forever. Many viewers have commented their dissaproval at this excavation, and others, but this is the first reasonable counter argument I have seen. Thank you for sharing !
Those Chests look like they were made in the early 1900s, not 3 thousand years ago. Amazing.

They’re all grave robbers imo. I think it’s awful the way they dig up and steal from the dead. It’s just disgusting.
I tend to agree with you both. While making this video I certainly had feelings of distaste at the entire thing. But, these photos exist and we can learn something from them. That does not change my personal opinion that they should never have been uncovered.

@@penelopelopez8296 who gives a shit, everyone should be able to view this history, I mean obviously we should'nt smash walls and damage things, but if you are excavating it carefully and then putting it into proper care into a museum then I see nothing wrong with it, if we treated every archeological discovery as stealing we would never get anywhere
This wasn’t supposed to be his tomb. He died suddenly from wounds when his Chariot turned over and was given a tomb meant for a older high ranking official that was almost finished. I haven’t been there but I have studied Egypt’s history.

was there two weeks ago it was surreal i had dreamed of visiting the Valley of the Kings and pyramids since i was a child and first saw them in a National Geographic magazine i am 72 years old
Wow that’s incredible … Did you feel safe ??? you are so much braver than me ! … The only place I haven’t been that I would love to go … Just not thrilled about going to such an unsafe place without my 9mm. I’m quite a bit younger and it’s not like I’m a beta male.. I lift heavy weights and do some mma, … lol

@@AmazingHistoricalPhotos wife and i felt perfectly safe we were with tour group and tour company had a guard with us he had a heckler-koch submachine gun under sport coat only aggravation were the 'vendors' at markets who were very pushy dont worry about hurting their feeling just say "La!" which means no.........traffic laws did not seem to exist everyone drove as they pleased and blew horns constantly but no crashes! the whole experience was like visiting another planet.....it was truly a trip of a lifetime

Knowing the guard is packing brings me some comfort .. so long as he doesn’t turn of course !!! .. My mum is obsessed with pyramids and Egypt and I would love to take her .. she’s not young anymore so I was worried about the danger … I’m going to look into it some more … Thanks again

There is a word for these kind of actions: GRAVE ROBBERS. What do you expect to find in a burial site? Desecrating graves to find untold fortunes in the name of 'science' is still obscene.
It would be mingling to be the first to see these things and know that someone thousands of years ago placed items there
One thing I find amazing: these archaeologists were working in a dirty, hot, dry climate in suits and ties .
Definitely appearance over comfort during this era.

Now that new forms of radar has exposed pyramids in Central America, I am hoping to see what lies beneath the sands in Egypt.
i read a book that shows exactly where howard carter had broken into the tomb, raided it, and then came out, sealed it up and then notified the media that he had discovered the tomb. IT shows the patch up job he did.
imagine how many other impressive wonders and objects were lost because of grave robbers

I do find it odd that the burial chamber was sealed. If he is supposed to use the stuff in his afterlife or journey ome would think it wouldn't be sealed up but an open hallway. Who knows why but its always struck me as odd.
I get people say that these were grave robbers and thieves but maybe this being found in the 19th century was the afterlife it was originally left for ? Was it better for civilisation that this was found for us to see ?
Interesting take and quite plausible. I was against these excavations, until further study. In truth, all of these tombs would have eventually been found and raided by professional thieves. Many specialize in this type of find and they melt down and destroy countless works of art (They were already finding and looting them for decades). In short, I’d rather them be found by “authorities” representatives and end up in a museum … than being looted, melted down and lost to history forever. Leaving them alone was never an option.
I can't feel anything else then disgust and sadness, seeing these graverobbers destroy all this beautiful sacred stuff. I can't imagine how you can feel worthy of doing that when you witness all this sacred beauty. Humans are disgusting

I see that and agree to an extent. But it is neat to see this. And while I believe we think we know more about ancient times than we really do from what I’ve seen tut was not a very good person
The other point, that I hadn’t considered prior, is that these tombs have been robbed for centuries. The treasures within are then melted down and sold. It is always just a matter of time before every one of these Tombs is pillaged and desecrated. At least this way they are preserved in museums for all to see and learn…

I totally get why people feel like they shouldn’t be touched same as shipwrecks but I think being respectful and recovering items for display and let others appreciate history is not a bad thing. There are definitely dirtbags that steal things to sell and that’s never good but I imagine most people appreciate being able to see these things

My apologies, my wording should’ve been better. “Up to the gold mask on the mummy”. The three nesting sarcophagi are shown here. The Gold Mask is sitting on the mummy. I could not find either a non colorized or colorized version of the complete exposed mummy from 1925. There are many you can find of the detailed mummy on show in a museum. But they are modern photos and that was not the purpose of this video. Wanted to restrict to on-site 1922-25 historical photos. Thank you for your feedback though.

As opposed to the previous thieves without coats … lol. I was conflicted making this video as I think this should all be left alone. But, then it was rightly pointed out to me that these tombs have been robbed and looted countless times over the centuries… If Carter and his team hadn’t done it … someone else would have. Human nature I’m afraid. Where there’s treasure … there’s thieves…. Sometimes in coats !

I have no respect for any of these archaeologists that disrupt and dismantle graves why is that ok? I find it fascinating but at the same time these people have no right is it ok because there’s no living relatives?
