Empanadas cooked in a live fire oven

  • We're back in Brazil with live fire pitmaster Marcos Livi. During our stay, we had an amazing lunch by the lake. One of the dishes being served was traditional Argentinian empanadas and we asked Livi to show us the recipe and process.

    These look delicious. Why is the lard mixed with the water ? Could you substitute o8l ?

      water and oil cant mix, thats why its lard

      Yea but lard is much much better for you....an taste way better .

    Little crunchy. Texas empanadas barely golden brown. Every time I’ve gone south of the border they overcook nearly everything. Chefs say because of sketchy refrigeration everyone makes sure they kill bacteria. Mexico,Costa Rica, Panama, Columbia all same. Best food I’ve had was in Columbia.
