    My plumber friend advised me in addition to this, when head removed to also twist the elbow pipe 180° pointing upward and dump a bottle of Lime-Away down and let sit overnight. Next morning revert elbow to original downward direction turn on faucets and watch all the blockage shoot out in seconds.

    I would just add for those of you as technically challenged as I am, you can also fill a small sturdy baggie about 2/3 w vinegar, slip it over the head that remains in place attached to pipe (I was unable to unscrew the head off), I then wrapped water proof tape around shower pipe & bag, then also tied thick string to secure. The entire shower head was immersed for 24 hrs and is once again giving a full flow of water. Thank you for the vinegar tip!

      @ Randy Taylor, someone without tools or not strong enough to unscrew a very grimy, hard water built-up showerhead. Not being rude, but the baggy trick works well unless you have water spouting out from the base of the showerhead then I guess you then should purchase a tool or ask a friend for help

    Vinegar is a must-have in my home! It is also great to unclog drains & toilets, when used with baking soda!! 1C vinegar & 1/2 C baking soda. Let sit for 20 min, then pour boiling water down drain or toilet. I swear by this stuff!

      I do something that keeps me from taking the shower head OFF. I take a large baggie and pour vinegar in the baggie, then put the baggie over the shower head and use a heavy duty rubber band holding the top of the baggie in place. Works extremely well. Good video. I've used vinegar for years. Thx.

    Thank you. Most plastic shower head connections use a rubber washer instead of Teflon tape. Yours is obviously missing the washer and hence, you'll have to use the tape. If using the washer, lightly hand tighten only to avoid deformity the washer (if it leaks, hand tighten until it stops).

    You can also do this without taking the shower head off. Just pour some vinegar into a small plastic bag, dip your shower head into the bag to where your shower head is submerged and tie the bag in place using a rubber band. Let it soak for a few hours and should be good to go.

      @jjman533 3 года назад +12

      Soda neutralizes the acidity in the vinegar that is needed to clean out the mineral deposits. It might still work, but it will do better without the baking soda. Baking soda/vinegar works better for surface cleaning as the soda helps scrub away surfaces.

    If there was that much calcium and other minerals on the outside what makes this guy think there isn't even more on the inside? This looks clean now, but I doubt it flows as well as new. The inside must still be somewhat clogged. There was no scrubbing with a soft metal brush inside. Then the thing is leaking because he didn't bother to finish the job correctly with teflon tape "since it was just for demonstration". Well, his job was to demonstrate the correct fix. I won't be bothering with other videos from this guy. This is a half-assed video ....
