For someone who has watched every single one of your videos on RUclips, from start till this far, seeing those motorized blinds was a feast to the eyes! How far you have come indeed! These are just small additions, true, but these are just one more step closer to the perfect home! And that tree? Man, that was a precision cut! Amazing videography too, with all the different cameras. I mean, who thinks of a drone shot while felling a tree? These little details in planning makes your videos stand out over others! Great job! Keep them coming! By the way, I'm watching your channel from halfway across the world!

      Me, too! From Germany!
Watching you cutting down that tree without any safety protections, made me feel bad. Well, you managed to do it without harming yourself or the barn... But shouldn't you think about safety first - you are married to a wonderful wife, you are father of two lovely kids - don't you want to see them growing up??? Or getting injured heavily.... Well, I think you have responsibility to your family. Please, don't just plan phantastic videos, plan safety first!!!
Instead of my pleaing - I love watching your sweet family, your skills, you building the house. Be safe, stay healthy, God bless you all, Ela from Moers, a little town in Germany.

@@gabrieleseitz9169 totally get what you are saying but this is the complexity of the psyche engrained into Western American Men. We have to be brave and just solve/fix what is placed in front of us regardless: production first, safety second. Is it scary but in Spencer's exact same shoes I would have done the same but probably worse. One could argue, at first this mentality came from first there were no other options because no on else was around, but then it turned into circumstance prescribed frugality, and now it is cultural. We have to solve these problems.

Those pine trees were not getting enough water so they could resist the beetles, thus thebug problem. Use 5 to 10 gallons of horse manure in a pile, and a backhoe to dig a hole st least 2 foot by 2 foot deep if not bigger, mixing in the horse manure with the dug mixture of dirt and plant deadora cedar or Douglas fir trees. With the dirt mixed and loosened the new trees will absolutely take off. Gives the roots a super take off. Really super soak the new tree, and a heavy water every 2 weeks allsummer. All the Best.

We were able to save our pine trees on our property, by running major water to them. People told us that it wouldn't help, but we proved them wrong. Our neighbor's pine trees all died, ours all lived because we watered them with a lot of water. Every week my wife would put the hose on a tree and let it run all day, then move on to the next tree, and she saved them all. The pine beetles infect the trees when the trees dry out, and they can get into the tree because the bark has pulled away from the tree. We live in Montana where we had major pine beetle problems in the forests.

It might be worth getting an arborist out to look at the trees, you might be able to have the rest of them treated to save them, if you catch it early enough. I'm from the front range in Colorado and we've had our forests decimated by pine beetles, but some people have been able to save the trees on their property by getting them treated with the correct insecticides and nutrients to boost their health. I'm with you about loving the beautiful trees, but you might find they are just at the end of their natural life.

I understand the sadness of losing a large tree. We had to take down two very large ash trees last fall. Completely sturdy, healthy trees… until small bugs killed them… the dreaded Emerald ash borers. Our front yard is completely different now. No shade. 😢🥵

Same with me. 30 foot Spruce in my yard. Lush and beautiful. Cytospora Canker took it out in about 1 year. Had to remove it since the disease is contagious to other Spruce. Now I have no privacy from the road. 😪

My parents have lost 5 ash trees in 3 years. One of them was pretty close to 250 feet tall and was about 45 inches across at the base. They got 18 truck loads of fire wood out of that 1 tree. Sold it all and that paid for all the chains/bar oil/fuel

My mother and I planted some apple trees when moved from our home near the city into another house we built for my youngest brother who passed away in 2014. We moved in 2015. The apple trees had 2 apples on one of the trees . Every year it's loaded down with blooms . It's the only one that blooms in March . And every year since, the frost has burned every blossom on it for 5 years now. Not one apple made it. I've covered it still the frost gets it. Good luck with your peaches.

Congratulations on saving your barn from potential doom. Do you know someone with a sawmill that can convert the upper trunk into timbers for a new pier out into your pond? Regarding your fruit trees, they may benefit from an occasional application of Epsom salts and powdered limestone. Magnesium Sulfate (Epsom) will support healthy root growth while discouraging snails & slugs. Consider running the smaller branches through a wood chipper and add them to your compost.
Wishing you and your family a blessed week and a gentle spring season. Peace

Friends of ours built an outdoor bathhouse using all reclaimed wood and other items. Gravity shower and bath using a livestock metel water thing...wood stove water heater. Sliding frosted windows using old corrugated roof panels...indoor outdoor carpet and a clear roof with clear panels so they could bathe under stars. And a place to heat rocks for steam. Cutest little Japanese bath house ever...made for free and off grid. Spencer should definitely make you one!

If you put potting soil in the hole and break up the root ball (its to compacted and the tree will slowly grow and could even die-the roots have got to be able to grow out into the ground) and potting soil around the root ball and introduce your regular dirt, This will make the tree grow stronger, faster, and bare fruit faster. Fantastic job on putting that tree down btw! My husband and I love watching your videos, you guys are great!

My husband, a city guy, needed to fell a tree that was right up against our garden house. It wasn't a huge tree but it would have done some damage. When it let go it leaned against the building but because it was so top heavy it tipped over the peak of the roof and slid down right into the back of our pickup that was parked there. Just as it slid down the roof and into the truck bed some friends drove in and saw the tree slide in. They thought my husband was a tree cutting genius.

Hi 👋 to all of the family, just noted that you planted your tree 🌲 without teasing out the roots out, my grandad was a farmer 👩‍🌾 in the from 1939 and had orchards of fruit trees and he always said to me in the 60’s lol that it helped get the tree going. Many thanks for great content please keep it up, I’ve watched since you sat in your truck wondering what the hell you’d done I’ve laughed cried and all the emotions in between with you and yours.

Hey a little advice on hanging hanger for shelves and blinds for future. figure out where you want it and then get the thinnest 3m double stick tape. put it where you want it and then drill. it will always be in right spot and its faster. If you have to put in wall plugs just use enough to stick it but pull off easy after you drill.

All the finishing touches to the house are just wonderful, amazing work guys. The tree part was a tad scary, that was one big tree but it reminded me to the day they took our 3 white pines down, 50 years old but had a fungus and 2 were too close to the foundation. It was a sad day to say goodbye to them they were 29 inches around , 50-60 feet. Still miss them and planted two trees in their place, I am happy you planted another tree.

Those bores suck the life out of the tree and bushes. They work from the inside.
