Your dad has great ears. He picked up on the close to you sample, but also heard the Beatles in White Ferrari, Frank also sampled them in Siegfried and this album had a lot of influence from them.
One intresting fact about this album is that it is exactly 1 hour long, and the beat switch in nights is exactly 30 minutes in, since the song is called nights I think it represents going from day to night
its actually about him ageing and the negatives about it, in the first half he has high pitched vocals, he talks about summer which basically stands for fun
@@jayden2413actually this album is about sexuality, the double name blonde/blond is the masculine/feminine versions. the song nights is the mid point of the album and the beat switch in the middle is also the switch from franks feminine side to his masculine side.

This is probably my favourite album ever, I remember listening to it for the first time at like 3am and literally tearing up at ivy, white Ferrari and self control. This is such an incredible album and its so emotional to listen to. Frank Ocean is an incredible artist.

that machine your dad mentioned being used by Roger Troutman is used in the sample on Close To You, it's like an old fashioned pitch shifter/harmonizer that amplifies your voice
Stevie did a version of Close To You with the vocoder and Frank fell in love with that version actually. It’d be an interesting watch for you and your pops.
They sampled that at the end. Also Frank has an extended version of Close To You from his 2017 live sets that more closely mimics what Stevie did which was basically a Medley of Never Can Say Goodbye by the Jackson 5 and Close To You by The Carpenters

Man this is my favorite album I think frank ocean cant make better album than this maybe its overrated for some people but its just amazing experience I always listen this album start to end 1 hour long album.
