The manga of Berserk by Kentaro Miura was a revolutionary tale in the Dark Fantasy genre. It inspired many works such as Dark Souls. The connections between Dark Souls and Berserk are very aparent on the surface such as Artorias being based on Guts, Griffith and Gwyndolin, The pontiff beasts and the dark beast, and many more. Berserk teaches a lesson through Guts about the idea of a struggle and how to deal with hard times while Dark Souls lets us become the struggler and shows us that good things can lie at the end. In the passing of Kentaro Miura, I wanted to show the impact that Berserk had on me and how it shows us how to struggle onward and keep moving forward. Both of these changed my life in a great way and I'm eternally greatful to Kentaro Miura for what he created.

@@Pepega580 yea that’s really dumb and unfair. I’m in the partner program and have monitization off for this video, but the German company claimed it even though it’s fair use. It’s up to them if it’s monetized or not. It also can’t be shown to anyone in Germany or Austria which is like 5-10% of my audience :(

I believe that Final Fantasy VII´s characters Cloud and Sephiroth are based on Guts and Griffith, although it´s not something I know about as officially released information by the creators of FF

Yeah, incredible how we as players want see them alive, even if their questlines are supposed to end tragically, we find the way to save as many npcs we can, Laurentius Is one of them. I just like to see him sitting in Fire link shrine, away of danger.

Kentaro Miura is like... the biggest reason I even got into anime as a genre.
He opened the door and showed me that manga and anime is more than kids shows and cheap budgets. His high standards to story and art even now have no equal.
Fuck, I'm not even upset that I won't get to read the ending I'm upset that he didn't get to finish it. It was his masterpiece and he deserved to see it completed. Rest in peace to a fucking legend man...

@@MultiPeyton22 Actually, as a fellow story teller, I think that Miura already knew the end. He just didn't have the chance to tell it to all of us. Berserk is already complete, but the completion was lost along with a great man. There's a great ending to berserk, but those of us among the living will never know.

i had already done it a few months ago now i'm already at ng + in full strength destroying all the enemies in my path.
When we play dark souls we became the struggler.
And a lot of people literally quit the game back in the days of its release... both in the beggining or in the Ornstain and Smough boss.
I wish I played it as it came out. Even tho I was late, it did help me appreciate the struggle.

Great video man. Miura's death has been devastating for me but he has inspired me through guts so much that there's no way he isn't considered alive in me. Berserk will forever be my favorite piece of fiction and guts shall remain in my eyes the best and most badass character of all fiction. What pains me the most aside from his death is the fact that guts might never find happiness again which is truly depressing.

I also found Berserk through the Souls series, often hearing about it and how it inspired the games. October 30 2020 Deluxe Vol 1 Is where it all started for me. I'm so thankful to the Souls team and lead creator, but most importantly to Miura for His work and the Joy it gave me in these times.
I hope he knows. He was probably frustrated that he never got to finish it despite struggling for decades. Even if he had the entire story planned out, knowing him he would've wanted to finish what he started.
Hope he knows just how much he meant to everyone.

You hit the nail dead on the head. DS isn't just aesthetically inspired by Berserk--the entire gameplay loop and premise is based on Berserk. Life is incredibly unfair. Keep struggling for your dreams and don't ever give up.
As a long time Soulsborne fan, I finally read Berserk a few months ago after a friend had talked it up for years. I found so much meaning, not only in Berserk itself, but in how I could see the seeds of how it influenced so many other works I enjoyed. So after a week long binge, I met up with that friend and he asked me what I thought. I struggled to find the words to fully express how I felt, so I looked him in the eyes and said
"Berserk is the Dark Souls of manga."
Amazing video man, it’s crazy realizing how my ideals and perspective have been changed indirecly or directly from Miura and his work. Would have never gotten into this community without him nor would I be where I am now, dude is a legend and that is understating it.

It is so good. You can enjoy it even if you've never read a comic or manga before. Miura was so good at creating the flow from one frame to another that your eye always moves to the exact place it needs to be to read it seemlessly, The art is gorgeous and the characters will consume your thoughts and dreams. 10/10 my favourite piece of media I've ever had the privelage of being entertained by

Berserk changed my life in ways that I cant easily express. It was the only manga I've read to thus far completion. I feel I connected with all of the characters in one way or another. Like I was struggling with them. Miura really did something special here. My thoughts go to his family and friends; Kentaro Miura himself may be gone but he will live forever through Berserk.

I loved Kentaro Miura for what he showed me with his masterpiece. Although it still saddens me that he is gone. I am grateful to have met his journey and can take much from it.

Between the relatable struggle of Guts and the accomplishment I felt when I first beat Dark Souls, I feel that the strength of persevering that is represented in both has helped me recently. I had a house fire just around a week before Miura's passing, in which I had lost my home and all of my pets, and I am still in the process of being put in longer term housing while my home is rebuilt. Empathizing with both Berserk and Dark Souls has given me enough that I feel confident in getting through this regardless of the stress and pain involved, and I am thankful to Miura and his work for that.
That’s heavy man. I hope that wherever you are, all is well in you. Don’t lose sight or hope.

Dark souls and beserk really convinved me I should just continue to push through with my art, there was a time I was at this platue and even dropped in skill a little but these two helped me realize that i should just relearn everthing, now my art is better than its ever been and "I hope I can keep on improving

Thank you. Your story reflects how I feel about Berserk. I think the reason I am so sad is that a part of me is afraid of moving forward without having Guts by my side in the future. Right now, it feels like Guts finally lost, and it's really sad.

Kentaro really changed my life be it by inspiring the game that would keep me from self harm or writing the story that would make me decide to become a better person
Berserk, one of my favourite pieces of media, influencing Dark Souls, another one of my favourite series, and I couldn't see one without the other.
Kentaro Miura is a genius, and his influence on manga and the dark fantasy genre will always cement him as such. May he rest in peace.

As a book-lover, I was after a game series with deep lore, so was attracted to Dark Souls.
I fell in love with the series, & heard recently of Berserk & it's influence on Soulsborne games.
So, having never have read any Manga, this year I started to read Berserk.
Within a couple of pages, I was drawn into Gut's world, the intriguing story & astounded by Miura's stunning art, complex story-telling, & wonderful characters.
Can't wait to be able to invest in the rest of the gorgeous collector editions & continue with Gut's story 💗

Highly recommend vinland saga if you like berserk, its another seinen dark fantasy manga worth the read! First season is also beautifully animated as well if you wanna start there.
