Boeing's case is the epic example of the crony capitalism. Where management works solely for the profits of the shareholders instead of maintaining the sanctity of the business.
Instead of purchasing a heavy attack helicopter which is not that reliable can't the army just purchase several LCH

I saw three Apaches flying in tandem over my city today.
Where do you live?
Boeing is having serious quality issues be it with commercial passenger jets like 737 and recent whistle blower issues have really dented its image.Still indigenous program is always the best bet and government must support our defence companies.
Also these are machines with a million parts and therefore many things can go wrong if it has to go that way , still Apache is the best at present in the heavy category, so further orders if and when necessary must be given with due diligence with respect to reliability issues of the machine as a whole.

Air Force should transfer all Helicopters to Army and look for space based system.
Of course, the issue needs to be addressed and resolution must be delivered faster.
Engine might have some issues.
Apache's Rugged armour and Long bow radar are some plus points.
Anyways, issues related to crashes must be addressed by Boeing immediately.
Else, DRDO should initiate a development programme for Heavy weight version of LCH that must have thick rugged armour, powerfull radar & reliable engine.

India needs one 10-11 ton heavy attack heli for low lying regions. Question is, if not Apache then what?
Prachand mk2 or any follow on indegenous option would be best, but not possible in 10 years atleast.
Apache has had 1 round of failure after many years, it’s not always been like this.

is low flying capability really that important, especially with drone warfare, keeping the helis farther from the ground will be wiser, and letting the missiles do the damage would be more benificial

Anyway, based on your point, yes there has been too high casualties of attack helis in Ukraine. There's a point. But even though large ships, choppers, heavy tanks get destroyed now and then, there is still something else people won't waste money on them. For one, this are great elements for invasion/offense

Boeing is the last company now people trust but unfortunately their military platforms are better than local products. I think LCH Prachand can do better if the Govt support is given and its weapons package is improved. Also LCH can be acquired in larger numbers than Apache.
Rather than going for more apache helicopters, both army and airforce should instead equip all of its existing /already under order apaches with longbow radars which is what makes these, apaches most lethal (as, of now only a small portion of the iaf fleet are equipped with longbow radars) and try to equip these apaches with either long range nlos or brimstone atgm missiles.
And equip all these apaches,lch prachand/rudra/ dhruv and mi-17v with common data link share platform/ netcentric systems to share and use the data acquired by these apaches longbow millimetric wave radars so that these already existing /under order apaches will act as command platforms for other iaf/indian army strike assets.
Stop Apache and start lch prachands heavy variants
Prachand is for high-altitude terrains. Apache is for borders which are not that high

I think the defence forces will go for heavy gunship variant of IMRH instead of LCH Prachand

Seriously IAF should reconsider Apache's additional numbers, but the better option would be to work on LCH Prachand and upgrade it to the required parameters at set a mark for itself.
It need to be customised according to Indian terrain especially for high altitude
We need our own products which are created for our own harsh terrains more orders for LCH Prachand. And fast development of IMRH attack version and also new development of Heavy class helicopter

Instead of blaming the equipment, IAF should train it's pilots in accordance to their existing assets. It's just like teaching someone how to drive a Civic and then expect them to be able to drive a Ferrari. The whole world knows IAFs crash record with Migs, brand new Sukois and Helicopters. It's not the aircraft but poor training of IAF.

@@Too-gq9vo IAF has lost 80+ Mig-21s in peace time to technical failures and still IAF was never able to overcome such issues. Call it whatever you want but when almost 50% of a specific aircrafts fleet is lost in peace time to technical issues and still you are hesitant to retire it then I will call it a unprepared and unprofessional military force.
IAF has lost most of the mig that was operated from way 1960's it MIG 21 Bison, if your talking about the capabilities of our pilot they can shoot your F-16 with a flying coffin, and still have a cup of tea at your land that's the capabilities of our pilot so don't ever question the capabilities of our pilot.

It may be maintenance deficiency in the part of IAF. Technicians should highly trained for highly sophisticated equipments . It was seen that Indian origin foreign trained technicians never transferring 100% technical abilities to new technicians. That may be the case, IAF should upgrade the maintenance schedules.
If that is the case then the technicians not the pilots should be forced to fly these machines.

@@plusultra7258 This is not an excuse, they should have done high altitude trials. Pakistan did desert trials of Z-10ME helicopters and they failed.... Only after proper modifications they got accepted in Pakistan Army.

First and foremost the IAF and IA both should do test sorties all along the Indian Terrain to identify limitations of Apache before making any purchases of this helicopter in future.
There are instruction manuals that are meant to be studied thoroughly before trying to attempt flight. Or is it all bollywood stuff.

India can consider buying some Kamov Ka-52 Alligator attack helicopter. After initial losses in Ukraine War, newer Ka-52s are much more lethal and have proven their mettle by taking down Leopard and Challenger tanks and giving ground support. Just buy some and do reverse engineering, Russians are anyways desperate to sell their stuff so why not take advantage of that.
I think they should come out of bollywood dreams and focus on quality of training and eligibility of flyers.
