@ Because many people may say you just show the best city in China. But actually these little known cities are as developed as Shanghai also with their characteristics.
It's all relative though. $10 is still a decent amount of money. I remember when visiting Shenzhen a few years ago. We were able to spend only $60 for a party of 9 people to a sumptuous banquet in Overseas Chinese Town (OCT) area. It was incredible! Sadly inflation is making prices much higher even in the top tier cities. The subways in Shanghai were incredible, cheap, clean, and were truly impressive.

You can have some "one day trip" to surrounding cities when base in Shanghai. Suzhou, Wuxi, Hangzhou, Changzhou, Nanjing. Etc Etc
