    Genuinely some of the worst umpiring I've ever seen on the Borges - Mayot match. Dude was allowed to complain about something that affected him and Borges equally, refuses to play and got to call the supervisor on set point, but when Borges does the same the next game he's treated far more harshly. And to top it all off, Mayot saw no problem with his behavior. You have to feel for Borges, terrible job from the umpire.

      The fact that he is Japanese and abusing a Japanese made racket is extra disrespectful from him. Kids in japan are taught to respect things made by other people because of the time and effort put into crafting them. Yonex rackets have the best quality control because they are made in Japan vs other brands that pump theirs out of the same factories in China. I had 2 prostaff 97s ordered at the same time that played completely different from one another because one was 6 grams heavier while the other racket was more head light. I ordered 2 Yonex Ezone Tour 98 and both are within 1 gram of weight, only way to tell them apart is where I chip the paint. Shame on Nishioka, Shame Shame Shame GOT nun style.

    Standard of umpiring has been atrocious in the clay season. How about some sort of tv umpire who can intervene? These things are so obvious on TV.
    I’ve watched a ton of the clay season and the umpires haven’t once adjusted their decision, even when new info emerges that changes the situation (like Kokkinakis) - it’s like they’re too keen on their own egos to do their job properly

    Doesn’t use Hawkeye on court but broadcasts it on tv? Why not just finally implement it during play so we can reduce the amount of arguments and just get on with the game.

    • @gabrielametodieva8360
      @gabrielametodieva8360 Год назад +1

      They use it but with a disclaimer. Hawkeye uses a prediction to estimate where the ball will land which on clay is a bit tricky as it’s a live surface. The ATP said they’ll implement live line calling by 2025 though. Hopefully it won’t create even more arguments because on clay you can see the mark and if the live calling shows it incorrectly it’ll be hard to trust it

    Tennis is fun as an entertainment, wachting on tv, but from the inside and specially in the lower tournaments, it seems to be a very selfish environment, full of cheaters, where players do whatever it takes to win a match, even a point. The so famous values that supposedly the "white sport" has, are nowehere to be seen. It is a jungle, covered with money and luxury (if you reach an elite level, and very few do), but a sad jungle in the end must be living this from the inside, 24/7. There is a reason why so many former pro players dont want their kids to be tennis players.

    It's ridiculous that they are still messing about with marks on the court for clay. Just use Hawkeye like all the other tournaments.

    • @gabrielametodieva8360
      @gabrielametodieva8360 Год назад +1

      Hawkeye is not reliable on clay because it’s a live surface and it needs to be recalibrated all the time. Foxtenn is better. However, the ATP said they will implement live line calling from 2025 onwards so you’d hope the technology will be good enough by then

    Borges and kokkinakis so hard done by- too much double standards on the atp tour and tennis in general.
    Guarantee you if kokkinakis when hitting that shot knocked the guy out by accident - he would have got disqualified but he’s not allowed to move the barrier nor react when he bumps into it or else it’s hindrance -RIDICULOUS.
    If I was borges I’d be putting in complaint to the atp board or have retired after that set - ridiciulous that guy mayot was allowed to pause at break point to relax himself

    • @purplecoffinman8510
      @purplecoffinman8510 Год назад +1

      Kokkinakis wasn't, that situation is entirely his own fault for standing so far back in the court, and him moving the barrier to suit *his* court position isn't fair.

    • @WonderWhatHappened
      @WonderWhatHappened Год назад +1

      Kokkinakis is in the wrong. He may have a point but you don't go and move parts of the field because it doesn't suit his needs. He should've brought it up if he had a problem with it and if it wasn't dealt with then he should make a complaint to the supervisor or director.

    which genius figured it was a good idea to have a tournament match held on a court with people randomly hitting on the court next door with no barriers or fencing between the 2? Imagine treating peoples chance of stepping up to the next higher brackets with no more importance than a casual "come try tennis" day

    I've always said this, but considering the pivotal responsibility that umpires have they get away with being absolute idiots so many times. It's always an excuse of "we'll talk after the match" but nothing good has ever come from that. They also need to be fined and face some infraction. Players can't be the only ones bearing all of the responsibility.

    • @Test-tc4cx
      @Test-tc4cx Год назад +2

      But I don’t understand his argument. It’s not like the line umpire is standing in the middle of the court, he’s standing right at barrier of the court. The court has certain dimensions, he needs to adhere to them. He can also not run into the barrier and ask for a replay of the point because the barrier was in his way, there are dimensions of the court and he needs to stick to them. It was the same thing with medvedev in Cincinnati, their arguments don’t make any sense to me

    • @jeremyneiderhoff
      @jeremyneiderhoff Год назад

      @Test1 again, the line umpire should not be standing anywhere because they shouldn't exist in 2023
