Absolutely worth a 10. You could see the quality. The portion size of the beef and large variety of vegetables was excellent. That was no skimpy meal. I thought the desert was a decent portion, it was on a large plate which I think made it look smaller than it was. I would happily pay £35 for that meal and in such lovely surroundings as well. I hope they get their Michelin star.
As a ex butcher and a beef-addict, the isn't many Sunday roasts I can say have bowled me over when we have been out for lunch, but just by Gary's expression and the look of the food I would absolutely love to try the food there. Spuds look amazing and that beef is to die for. Wow !

The pub looked stunning. I love to see stories of a local place, sourcing local produce and delivering amazing taste and service. All credit to the team at the Olive Branch. You are right about the price - it wasn't cheap but it was displayed upfront and you said the taste was amazing and the service was brilliant - so its good value. I would love to visit.
£35 for that? I would happily pay it. I spent almost £14 for a regular meal in Burger King the other week and it was disgusting. I felt my self respect ebb away. Gary, you are so right. Support your local places, people. They are amazing and ok, pricey but quality and value is the point. If they deliver on all counts, it's not expensive once a month. And that's what these places need. Regular customers who come back monthly. One quality meal a month is worth ten garbage burger chain meal deals. Every area needs a good pub. When you first said how much it cost I thought, "this will have to be a hell of a roast", it definitely was! Easily worth £35 for those two courses, the food looked sublime. If I was closer I'd be there in a heartbeat. Great review as always, Gary.
Ah what a gem of a place! You’re so right about local independent pubs. Along with coffee shops, cafes and local shops they should all be cherished. You can go in a chain pub and be anywhere from Edinburgh to Penzance and it’ll look exactly the same. We need to look after the quirky, unique and historic places. Thanks Gary
These pub restaurants, F&C shops & excellent food served I really miss here in the US. They'd make a fortune if they came here. We have every food culture here except British? 😢 You go to a restaurant & menu reads English fish & chips no comparison unless you go to Vegas & get Ramsay's.
That was a fabulous review Gary. What a stunning setting, ambiance and service first class. As for the food…..WOW. From the bread, through to the roast and the accompanying ingredients and the dessert…. Quality and perfection. You summed up the experience at the end and richly deserved the perfect 10/10. Many thanks for sharing with us, much appreciated. Very enjoyable and see you in the Emerald Isle 👍👍👍
It’s great getting reviews like this that can give a local business that little bit extra support that they deserve/need! Great review and even better looking food!
Very insightful review and really enjoyable. The videos are becoming more polished with every release so very well done, Gary, and thanks for the entertainment. Safe journey to Ireland.
Hi Gary, glad to see you’re up in our part of the world my friend 👍. Spent many happy days hacking out from Stretton on the weekend and witnessed the growth of The Olive Branch over the decades. Has an excellent reputation locally and now with your help is known to a far wider audience 😊
Gary, your enthusiasm is infectious! Your attention to detail is also excellent! I've followed your vids for around a year and I've seen the development of your channel. Your presentational skills, the camera work, the editing - they've all gone up a notch to produce slick, informative and authoritative reviews. I salute you Sir!
One rare occasion where price isn't a factor. Quality, top notch cooking, location and service. That was the perfect beef roast. Everything looked a real pleasure. A meal to remember 😊😊😊 10*
Wowzers! What a stunning looking meal! Beautifully presented, very good portions, wonderful variety of veggies - yum, yum, yum! The attention to detail in every aspect of the dining experience proved that nothing can beat a locally owned, hands-on, dedicated business. We must support these hard working, talented folk; food service is grueling, back-breaking work but a crew that loves good food and cares about their customer's dining experience is rare and they should be lauded for going the extra mile. My hat is off to these fine folks and my only criticism, Gary - I would've given a 10☆!!!! Bravo to all concerned!😊❤❤
Gary by the looks of it you had a fantastic meal and an awesome experience at the Olive Tree that beef looks delicious and another great review from you as usual the owners must be so proud and happy when they see your review on your fantastic channel and you’re so right your local pub is the heart and soul of any local community and too many are closing down due to cheap beer etc from the supermarkets or local cheap shops so as you rightly say it’s important support them to keep them open and your campaign to promote them certainly helps.. Well done Gary can’t wait for your Ireland trip. Thank you for an amazing channel Gary well done..😊 fantastic channel.

Hi Gary I agreed with every word you said in that review. The meal looked fantastic eaten in an amazing setting with great service. It has to be 10/10 and I hope they get their Michelin start back. 35 pounds for a Michelin standard meal is very good value in my opinion. Didn’t charge you for extra gravy and no service charge. I was drooling over that food whilst eating my evening meal! People need to support places like that because they are a treasure. Great review as always mate
Thank you for the excellent comment To y we really need to do more(me included) to support local businesses especially when they provide exceptional food and service 👌💯
Preach it Gary...........I 100% agree about supporting local business. I don't want to live in a world where my only options are chain "sweat shop" restaurants. The Olive Branch is such a beautiful venue. The food looked absolutely amazing. The quality was obvious and the portion size outstanding. This meal was without a doubt worth the price. Loved this review! I am really looking forward to your trip to Ireland and seeing what kind of mischief you stir up.........🤣 Cheers
I know you like many different types of cuisine Gary but in my opinion and I may be bias but the traditional English Sunday roast with medium rare roast beef and all the trimmings is the greatest dish on the planet and the one you had here looked like a top end version of the dish and I always try to force down a pudding even if I am about to burst from the main course, great review as usual my friend 👍
hi Gary. Currently lying in a hospital at 130 am Perth time after an operation, and they you are! You Beauty!!!!!!!!! That food looked awesome. So fresh and obviously tasty as. I thought the dessert looked a tad small, but by the looks of things made up for that in taste and quality. Thanks again cobber for another AWESOME vid. Take care mate
Great review Gary...The food looked absolutely amazing and it was well worthy of a 10..That's what it's all about a local business caring about its customers and getting all local products in as well...Making sure the customers come back time and time again..Long live the village pubs because unfortunately where I live there seems to pub after pub closing its doors for the last time but unfortunately that's the way it's going I'm afraid 😟
Great message Gary, I whole heartedly agree with what you're saying about supporting small independent businesses. I look forward to Ireland! I live there, I will be very interested to see what you make of things here. Keep up the great work, I love watching you make me hungry.
Everything looked absolutely magnificent Gary, far better to save for a superb treat (they even thought of hot water bottles) and support a business as good as this than endure any amount of mediocre. Thank you for taking us to this very special place!
Lovely review, the food looked great and worth the money. Nice of you to give Oliver a mention. A good Waiter helps make a meal out more enjoyable. And three cheers to the Chef!
The crunch on those roasties was glorious to hear. Think I'll need to rewatch that section. Yum! PS, cavalo nero is a posh way of saying dinosaur kale. It's the arugula of rocket, the capsicum to the bell pepper, the sirah to the shiraz so to speak.
I have heard cavolo nero many times. I have literally never heard it called dinosaur kale. Equally, we would never call rocket arugala - are you in the US by any chance?
Hi Gary and Mr Cameraman Firstly this is the seconded time you spooked me out, the curried Goat was the first as i worship it, and been making different versions for the last 25 years. The second thing is Cavolo Nero, its a type of kale also known as black cabbage or Tuscan kale and really hard to get hold off, the wife and i love it raw with a blue cheese dressing. Also, Olive butter, i made a batch of this on Sunday, its so simple but delicious, Its just 1/2 cup unsalted butter, 1 garlic clove 1/3 cup of olives (i prefer black)1/8 teaspoon sea salt (don't use normal salt) and ground black pepper. Just place the garlic, olives, sea salt and black pepper in a blender, till roughly chopped then add the butter for 15 seconds, its so easy and tastes amazing. Sorry i digress this is Gary Eats, not Chris Eats. Ok your meal today, it was amazing, and your 100% correct you pay for quality, to which £35 for all you had including extra Gravy at no further charge, or a service charge, its a no brainer. My only slight criticism was the fat on the Beef, i would of trimmed that off, but hey everyone's a critic. Despite that yes a 10 from me also. Chris.
Chris thank you so much for the recipe I’ll try that this weekend, just in case we have anymore coincidences I’m off to Ireland 🇮🇪 (forewarned) if you say you’re in Dublin tonight then I will be concerned lol 😂. Thank you for the excellent comment and hopefully see you soon 👌

Beautiful place excellent food I'd pay for it Thanks Gary. 10 out of 10.
Thanks Tony 👍
This is glorious. Just when i think I've seen the best...it gets better.
Well done, Gary & son. You're an unbeatable team. ❤🇿🇦
That’s so kind to say Melany than’ you very very much x
Ah what a gem of a place! You’re so right about local independent pubs. Along with coffee shops, cafes and local shops they should all be cherished. You can go in a chain pub and be anywhere from Edinburgh to Penzance and it’ll look exactly the same. We need to look after the quirky, unique and historic places. Thanks Gary
Thank you so much Paul 👍🏼
A lovely and appreciated comment as always Andrea thank you 👍👍👍
You describe it so good my mouth was watering 🙏. What a beautiful plate of food and great venue
Thank you very much Peter
It’s great getting reviews like this that can give a local business that little bit extra support that they deserve/need! Great review and even better looking food!
Thank you hopefully it brings some business as it’s definitely deserved
Very insightful review and really enjoyable. The videos are becoming more polished with every release so very well done, Gary, and thanks for the entertainment. Safe journey to Ireland.
Glad you like them Simon and thank you
Hi Gary, glad to see you’re up in our part of the world my friend 👍. Spent many happy days hacking out from Stretton on the weekend and witnessed the growth of The Olive Branch over the decades. Has an excellent reputation locally and now with your help is known to a far wider audience 😊
That’s so brilliant to hear Charlie and it’s well deserved
Gary, your enthusiasm is infectious! Your attention to detail is also excellent!
I've followed your vids for around a year and I've seen the development of your channel. Your presentational skills, the camera work, the editing - they've all gone up a notch to produce slick, informative and authoritative reviews. I salute you Sir!
Thanks Steve, means a lot and I’m definitely more confident now 👍
One rare occasion where price isn't a factor. Quality, top notch cooking, location and service. That was the perfect beef roast. Everything looked a real pleasure. A meal to remember 😊😊😊 10*
I’m with you Steven this was such a joy to review
A truly excellent comment as always, you understand completely the work in the background that makes this pub so special thank you so very very much x
Worth every penny excellent looking food well presented Gary loved this review thumbs up
Thank you kindly Lorraine
What a lovely place, nice find. These sort of places are wonderful
I agree with you Andy
What a contrast to "Meat the Greek"..I love Rutland, close to me. So one we will visit..10 well deserved Gary 👏
Thank you Silvio and it’s a beautiful place
A really excellent comment Michael thank you and Ireland is fantastic 🇮🇪🇮🇪
That’s very nice words at the end as well thank you 🙏
Yes it is definitely a 10 with that delicious food prepared perfect. 👍
I think so too, absolutely delicious
Love to see you happy, what a dinner! 10/10 easy, great video
Thank you so much Caroline very kind to say
Oh my days, I would definitely pay for that' heaven on a plate' for a treat, loved every single item, cauli cheese too, yummy, i can leave off the pudding . Ty for staring Mr G and Mr C too🎉 what a fabulous venue🇬🇧
Thank you this was totally outstanding
One word MAGNIFICENT! I would definitely pay the extra for that meal.and another thing you are special Gary your channel is fabulous.thank you for such a great video i totally enjoyed watching this one! Positivity peace and love ♥️
It was magnificent and thank you
Thank you for all your hard work.its appreciated positivity peace and love ❤️
Superb. What a find. Not too far from me so hopefully in the future I can try this place. It looked delicious. Thanks Gary for the review xx
Susannah if you visit you definitely won’t be disappointed xx
Perfect review Gary. Spot on.
What’s it like to know that you’re The Goat of food reviewers. Come on Gary.
That’s so very kind and appreciated David thank you
Im drooling every where. That looks incredible. I personally think thats worth every penny
I’m with you 💯💯
That crusty bread was divine and that Sunday lunch was lovely a beautiful place as well another great video gary
Thank you Julie the bread was an excellent touch in my opinion
Hi Gary
I agreed with every word you said in that review.
Looked very delicious, plus lovely large portion. Beautiful place, also. Thanks Gary.
This was outstanding Janette
That was stunning! Would go a ten plus for everything you have said about the place in addition to the food! Cheers, Gary & Son 👍
Glad you enjoyed it and thank you
Preach it Gary...........I 100% agree about supporting local business.
Couldn’t agree more Daniel, they’re so important to this country and I champion them so much because of this - thanks for watching as always
I couldn’t agree with you more Deano, it’s easily one of my favourite meals as well
I hope you get better soon, ops are never nice things.🤗
Indeed get well soon buddy love from England 🏴
@@VickyRussell-122 thank you angel 4 snapped ribs!
Hi Ben. I’m really sorry to hear you’re in hospital and hope you make a swift recovery soon. Please take care!!
Hope that you have a quick recovery. All the best to you. Cheers from Canada.
One of the best looking roasts I've seen. Great of you to support these local pubs.
Thank you very much
Great review Gary...The food looked absolutely amazing and it was well worthy of a 10..That's what it's all about a local business caring about its customers and getting all local products in as well...Making sure the customers come back time and time again..Long live the village pubs because unfortunately where I live there seems to pub after pub closing its doors for the last time but unfortunately that's the way it's going I'm afraid 😟
You make a very good point and thank you very much
Great message Gary, I whole heartedly agree with what you're saying about supporting small independent businesses. I look forward to Ireland! I live there, I will be very interested to see what you make of things here. Keep up the great work, I love watching you make me hungry.
I’m looking forward to doing a few restaurants there!! 😄 thank you
Everything looked absolutely magnificent Gary, far better to save for a superb treat (they even thought of hot water bottles) and support a business as good as this than endure any amount of mediocre. Thank you for taking us to this very special place!
Thanks Kat and no problem 👍
Love a roast dinner, cauliflower cheese is my favourite side, and buttery mash potatoes/peas. Lovely..
Top draw Kyle. Love CC!!
Lovely review, the food looked great and worth the money. Nice of you to give Oliver a mention. A good Waiter helps make a meal out more enjoyable. And three cheers to the Chef!
Absolutely agree with you spot on
Looks great that. It's now on my list of places to visit.
You should go Matthew, it’s superb
The crunch on those roasties was glorious to hear. Think I'll need to rewatch that section. Yum!
PS, cavalo nero is a posh way of saying dinosaur kale. It's the arugula of rocket, the capsicum to the bell pepper, the sirah to the shiraz so to speak.
I have heard cavolo nero many times. I have literally never heard it called dinosaur kale. Equally, we would never call rocket arugala - are you in the US by any chance?
Thanks for letting me know 👍🏼👍🏼
What a fabulous place and the food looked absolutely amazing👍
I’m with you Jay I agree 👍
Hi Gary and Mr Cameraman
Firstly this is the seconded time you spooked me out, the curried Goat was the first as i worship it, and been making different versions for the last 25 years.
Alot of people like the fat 😊
@@GaryEats72 South Great George's Street, Dublin, D02 EC94. ,,, nice japanese place very good , been there for years 😊
25 minutes video, simply fantastic. Worth every second, alongside with this delicious Sunday roast.
Glad you enjoyed it
I've not been there but I can't help but agree from what I've seen Gary.
It was absolutely excellent
Me and my fiancé love your videos Gary, nice relaxing easy to watch and you seem like a lovely guy. If you're ever in Horsham please give La Piazzetta a go. Cheers! 🍷
Thank you and best wishes to your partner. Thank you again
A dream of a Sunday roast!
I agree completely
That looks a proper roast dinner, I was about to say put some gravy on it, then you corrected that. Well done Gary
I did eventually Len and this was indeed proper 💯💯
Incredible meal. Hard to beat a roast dinner like that. Thanks for sharing!
I agree Patty this was outstanding
Wow chap…10/10 for me 👌👌 Food looked bloody scrumptious 😋😋. I agree keep our traditional British pubs…lovely location
Thank you David this was outstanding 👌
Another great video Gary, sending my best to you, your son and the family. have a great week
That’s very kind and likewise to you and the family
Lovely area. I went to the Hambleton Hall restaurant near there. That was very good.
Roast looking good!
So good! Stunning area, Stamford is also excellent
Wow that roast dinner looked almost appetizing to me, which is the highest praise I’ve ever given a roast dinner! Thanks as always, Eats-san!
This was simply outstanding
Great review Gary. Good pubs are ace, poor ones fall away. We absolutely need to protect local pubs but they also need to support us with great food, well kept beer and a welcoming, please come back experience. Olive Branch added to list!
Thank you and you’re spot on what a great comment
With some stuffing and mash, that'd be perfect. Maybe a bit of cabbage or spinach too. Yum yum
That sounds fantastic
