    Wagyu burgers are INSULTING. Most of the time they’re not A5 wagyu just some knockoff “wagyu”, and wagyu isn’t a burger meat due to the high fat ratio, so it’s just a waste to use as a burger. Shame on Gordon for selling that 85 quid scam on his menu.

    • @NatPat-yj2or
      @NatPat-yj2or 3 месяца назад

      Ummm hey smartass. Just an FYI, Einstein... Gordon's burgers are made with A5 from Iwate, Kagoshima, and Tajima. By law, when selling A5 grade Wagyu at a restaurant, you must retain the certification that is sent with the beef. The certification includes the date of slaughter, the prefecture, the distributor, the actual farm, and the actual ID# of the individual cow. Gordon uses an 85/15 ground beef that is made from the trimmings tallow, and unsold portions of A5 Wagyu at the end of the night service, which are collected from his restaurants in the area, and transported to his restaurants that serve Wagyu burgers. You wombats don't get how this works. What a shame.

    Ten years ago I ate at the Gordon Ramsey burger restaurant in Las Vegas. 3 burgers, 1 coke, 1 beer $100. Nothing fancy, just normal/average menu items. Took an hour to get the food on a non crowded afternoon. When the burgers arrived, all three were wrong. I told the waiter and he was just like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ oops. No fks given. We didn’t want to wait another hour for new burgers, so we just ate what was given to us. The burgers were good, maybe 6.5 out of 10. I was so excited to eat there and was super disappointed

    That was a well made and entertaining video !
    Well edited and filmed.
    My only complaint was that I would have like to hear your assessment of the tastes of the fries minus the ketchup- you never ate them as they were- just plain. I think that’s the only way to get an accurate assessment of them .
    Other than that point, your review was detailed informative and appreciated.

    The basic problem is this: People like you are not supposed to be there. The prices are designed to keep you out. Supply (actually space and demand). I don't bat an eyelid at a $100 meal, it all depends what I feel like, sometimes it's fish and chips (I will pay maybe 20 pound) and sometimes its filet mignon with mushroom sauce. If you want a very good burger, which I have had, go to Planet Hollywood. Excellent.

      @idanceforpennies281 - YES! When he said that he got a Wagyu burger for $1, I instantly knew he is not qualified to even have an opinion on the matter. The current cost for 1 LB of A5 Wagyu 85/15 ground beef is $155.00. If he doesn't even understand that the term Wagyu only means that it's from a Japanese cow. It is graded A5 and Pureblood Wagyu that we (chefs) are referring to when we say "Wagyu''. It's painful to watch ignorant slobs that don't know their ass from their head.

  • @GaryG1974
    @GaryG1974 5 месяцев назад +8

    I am dubious about that menu. The "1849 Burger" states the beef is "Kobe". People get excited about seeing "Wagyu" but "Wagyu" is only the breed and whilst still very expensive, is not uncommon in a lot of places. Whereas "Kobe" is a place in Japan where a specific select few of "Wagyu" cattle are reared and so, "Kobe Wagyu" is ridiculously expensive; prohibited so for most people. This menu states it is "A5" which is the highest grade. So honestly, I am sat here asking why is it so cheap at only £85 and why waste such a delicacy on a burger!?! I think the menu writer has been a little "creative" on that one. At best I would say that "1849 Burger" contains less than 10% "Kobe A5" but just enough to plagiarize the description.
    I know you did not have the "1849 Burger", so I shall park that there.
    Sorry to state the obvious, but the reasoning behind the price is not just the food itself. You are paying for the name and the atmosphere/ambience. But having said that, this is nowhere near the likes of a 3 Michelin Star restaurant. So, when all said and done, overall, from how you described everything, no I do not think that was worth the money; not even close. You should try Plane Food by Gordan Ramsey at Heathrow Terminal 5, it is an absolute shocker of a place, so no, do not try it! 🤣

    • @GreenoEats
      @GreenoEats  5 месяцев назад

      Plane Food, isn't that the place our pal Gary went? I remember he gave something like that a real slating.
      You may be right about that A% beef description. With the amount of marbling in good wagyu I would expect that would make a burger quite unpalatable, irrecspective of whether mincing it is the best way to use that quality of meat.
      I know it's a price partly based on the name and location, but you still have to justify that with good food, and sadly this place just doesn't!

    I don't understand why they make these tall burger towers! You see people dismantling them or eating them with a knife and fork. To me, that is defeating the whole object of having a burger. You can clearly see the grease on the onion rings. The lighting picks it up. Burgers always turn into a soggy mess unless they are made up and eaten within two minutes. I guess it's only a place for tourists, so when they get home they can tell all their friends they went to a Gordon Ramsay restaurant! Definitely a rip off.
