  • I invited 6 local RS3 owners to come out and dyno their cars to see how much power they were making compared to what they thought they were making. Some were blown away with their results and others were disappointed. All in all though everyone had a good time and they got to see how much power they were able to put down on the dyno. Here are all of the guy's Instagram handles if you'd like to see more of their cars:

    Unitronic - Stage 2 - @charlesmax74

    • @VancityAudi
      @VancityAudi  3 года назад

      I can't see it being much at all. The day I dyno'd my car was cold and rainy, so only a few hp at most. The huge difference is the load of the FWD VS the AWD.

  • @leonardoarispe4689

    So in your video you stated the guy that was only able to run in fwd mode could have made more power/tq if he was in awd mode because of more load on the car. How is that possible? Great video! I love all your stuff. You were the guy that convinced me it was reasonably safe to get my car tuned! I've been running a 93 and 100 octane tune on my 2018 rs3.
    One question I'm having a hard time finding...
    What kind of oil dilution do these engines suffer from running e-85? Am I looking at 2k oil changes if I go full bolt-on with stock turbo while running e-85? Is E-85 viable for a "daily" driver that will see 10k or so miles a year?
    BTW I'm pre-planning for a 2021 RS3, possibly. I've still got other options I'm considering.
    So what would you all get? I'm considering a 2020 Jag f-type SVR that's been sitting on a lot nearby that I can pretty much steal. I wouldn't mod that though. My next option is a new RS3 with full bolt-ons and tune which I know will kill the SVR performance-wise. I was also thinking of waiting for the new AWD M4.
    Opinions?

    • @VancityAudi
      @VancityAudi  3 года назад

      100% depends on what you are looking for in a car. The RS3 will epically thrash an SVR in performance. I daily drove my Stage 2 - E85 RS3 for over a year. Worked like a charm. I changed my oil every 6000km when I ran E85 on stage 2.

    Probably have watched this video 6 times. Currently between Uni and APR S1+ 93 - with occasional E85 map switching. My guess is they are probably extremely similar maybe Uni lays down a little more torque. The only reason I'm leaning towards APR is because I live in an apartment currently and APR offers on the fly fuel map switching with no flashing required. Would be nice to be able to flash anywhere regardless of if I have internet / cell connection or my laptop with me. Please keep in mind that if you plan on going any further with your modifications past Stage 1 that APR no longer supports Stage 2 setups. Also note that Unitronic has the world's best TCU tune and that makes a huge difference in daily drivability.

    What is really surprising me is that the based on your numbers, the gain over stock for Unitronic Stage 1, for instance, is only + 33 HP and + 51 LB-FT compared to the + 76 HP and + 115 LB-FT they advertise. Wow! Even the Stage 3 TTE700 93 doesn’t make that +115 LB-FT. I’m a bit confused.

      The dyno HP are whp, what unitronic advertised are crank hp.

      @@AwC37 I know, that’s why I mentioned the difference in power and torque between stock and staged car they advertise, not the maximum power or torque. I would expect the same difference whether it is wheels or crank results, but I may be wrong. I personally own a TTRS that I recently tuned with Uni Stage 1+ and I can confirm it makes a huge difference considering it’s only a software tune so I’m not complaining, I was just surprised by the numbers and I’m trying to understand.

      The numbers Unitronic is claiming on their website are 67HP at the crank and 115LB/FT at the crank. The 33hp and 51lb/ft gain we saw on this day was wheel horsepower. So you'd have to add in drivetrain loss to make the comparison. I do agree though that according to this dyno, on this day, we didn't quite see the advertised power numbers. With all of that said, I did this video for the owners to see what they are making on that dyno, on that day. Dyno readings are physically impossible to compare from one car to another, on a different day, in different conditions, with different bolt on's and different fuel sources, not to mention 100 other variables lol. You are always better comparing trap speeds in cars in similar conditions to see what kind of power a car is making

      The numbers on Uni's website are at the crank. The numbers in this video are at the wheels. You have to account for the drivetrain loss

    Apr making great power compared to unitronic

      The only Unitronic car we hoped for more power out of was the Stage 2 - 93 car. All the rest were great. The APR car was a surprise though

    No way those stock numbers are correct, at the wheels??

    • @VancityAudi
      @VancityAudi  Год назад

      Yes, to the wheels. They are uncorrected numbers as well so the great conditions they had to make a ton of power were not taken into account.

    In my opinion, I have always felt that Unitronic tunes more conservatively on pump gas in comparison to others such as APR. It would not surprise me if a Stage 1 pump gas APR is just as powerful or slightly more powerful than Unitronic Stage 1+ or even Stage 2 pump gas tuned. But when you throw e85 in the picture I believe Unitronic's tune is superior.

      That's why dyno's are dumb and you can't compare them from one part of the world to another using different parts and tunes. It just doesn't work. This video was made to show the owners what they made on this particular dyno compared to what they thought they were making. Dyno's mean nothing. Get on the track and see what it does for trap speed. That will be your ultimate way of seeing the power you are making.

      @@vqhrvr36 you sound butt hurt. Dynos just show what cars make. There are many variables. Take your car to another dyno and it will not make same power. It might make more. Might make less.
