    Joshua, THANK you for this. My husband and I were fully planning on KFC today, but I saw your video. You inspired us both. We did everything in your video (but used a whole chicken instead of turkey). Cranberry sauce - I will NEVER go back to canned. EVER. Your stuffing, we made with home-made sour dough (also inspired by you)... it made me cry. No lie. The flavors... Made... Me... Cry. Thank you for the inspiration, making things attainable, and the flavors were absolutely perfect for Thanksgiving. $35 bucks, worth a million dollars. Today I'm thankful for your channel. No KFC for us today, papa.

      @Buferin El mejor ok, lets dive into it. he said "well over 500$, potentially even over a 1000$" and "10,15, maybe even 20 people". So if we take the smallest cost, and the largest crowd, that is still 25$ for a single plate and dessert. I don't know about you, but those are restaurant prices for me, and that is at the lowest possible cost for the most people he can host. Since we are all watching a video where he makes 10-15 servings for 35$, i think even Josh would agree that he spends too much on it.

      When I do the gravy what I usually do is make it out of the roasting pan juices, bring that to a high boil, stirring constantly and pepper no salt because the liquid already has the salt the a slurry out of water and corn starch, whisk that constantly until it is thickened. adding more corn starch along the way, then after about 20 mins or so the gravy is finished. Learned it from my uncle RIP.

    as a swiss, i'd like to give my regular depressing update on the beloved "but cheaper" series: today i checked the turkey prices at the regular supermarket (no fancy butcher, farmers market or even organic premium brand) and the bird alone is is more than 45 USD. I think the butter alone of this recipe would exceed 10 bucks. i mean we do earn more in average than you guys, but not anywhere near that almost 10x factor that you can save on foods. its crazy.

    • @boredninja12
      @boredninja12 3 года назад +1

      Msg is just extra easy savory flavor or umami. The same 'flavor' we get from roasting or braising things. The short explanation is that japanese guy decided he wanted more flavor in stuff and got it naturally from seaweed, now we put it in everything commercially to make stuff taste better than they're supposed to. The msg butter is just an insane flavor booster and I'm honestly surprised he didn't use a little in the gravy honestly.
