Respect for your perseverance in your search for that one big pike. You always present your reports with a lot of enthusiasm and theories. Here in the Netherlands I also suffer from the heavy rain periods, which is clearly reflected in the catches. Good luck with further search for the big pike.

I've found the worst days for catching pike are those nice weather winter days when the sky is clear, the sun is shining, no wind, it normally spells doom for my fishing. If there's a low front coming in and it clouds up and feels a bit milder in the afternoon and last hours of daylight it seems to be more productive. Also when there's cold rain and when the water's turned really brown, doesn't bring me success. No hard and fast rules though. I've caught on breezy days and at night. Can't remember ever catching pike when the water has turned really murky.
Yes I know exactly how you feel I was out pikeing only for the full day yesterday . not even a knock. But we will still be out as soon as again trying for a big one.. Cheers..

Gutted that you didn’t land that eel, I tried to catch one on my local river in the summer but I didn’t have any luck, someone told me that they didn’t feed in the winter time, have you caught them before at this time of year?!?

Hi bud I was wondering have you considered a castable fish finder to locate those silver fish bait balls in these deeper parts of these lakes ??? It might be the edge you looking for !!! It's helped me out loads of times in the past when the fishing is slow and the fish aren't active !! If you find the shoal of silvers the big mamas will be near by !! And not to mention any brands but you can map out lakes and see all the hidden features too !! The amount of time you could save is worth the effort and the money we spend on bait and everything soon adds up since I got mine it takes the guess work out and gives me the edge best of luck on your next trip bud hopefully you'll get lucky next time
I've got one of those deepers there brilliant bit of kit I just always forget to bring it with me lol, having said that I do know the lake pretty well been fishing it for 20 years give or take, but the deepers definitely coming with me next time lol
