Williams drumming with these demos reminds me of Dave Krusen’s feel on Ten with PJ.
Love this! It was only a matter of time until it showed up on my feed....thanks for posting...no less than brilliant!
This is only a demo, if this was in the studio with a good producer they can make it sound a lot better besides they did this song when they were on tour in 1995 and 96 before it came out on 1997 album with William Goldsmith on drums..sounded pretty good in concert
Totally agreed 👍 💯
This feels like a different song
Yep, a bit mellow compared to the final version. You just can't feel Goldsmith's personality in here. Who IS he as a drummer?
This also was a demo..which are mostly mixed more and changed in the studio by producers.
Slower version too
@@Mialamorena1 I think a lot of this has to do with being pushed by a producer rather than being able to do his own thing.
@@juanticimo That’s too bad
True.
I never realized how much TCATS sounds like a SDRE album
Yeah, an album where Nate played some creative bass lines, not just doubling drums/foot. It's a shame that this capable musician is wasting his potential in FF. Maybe Dave's drumming is more heavy hitting, hook oriented, poppy, but I think William's is more organic, natural. Maybe, and only sometimes, he's a bit of a fraction behind on live shows, but he's got a wider palette to Dave. The Rising Tide and The Fire Theft albums are f*ckn ART and majority of this is because of a great rhythm! Almost anything FF after TINLTL is okay-ish, nothing that'll stick for years and years.
Listened to the commercial album sooo much over the years, I always thought this song had completely different drummer on the actual album than Dave because Dave does not drum like this ever. Only Dave and Will could specify who created this sound but heak will freeze over before these two men will ever talk about it probably.
2:50
😎
Is it the same bpm?
Can you write the lyrics for me? thanks
Too alarmin' now to talk about
Take your pictures down and shake it out
Truth or consequence, say it aloud
Use that evidence, race it around
There goes my hero
Watch him as he goes
There goes my hero
He's ordinary
Don't the best of them bleed it out
While the rest of them peter out?
Truth or consequence, say it aloud
Use that evidence, race it around
There goes my hero
Watch him as he goes
There goes my hero
He's ordinary
Kudos, my hero
Leavin' all the mess
You know my hero
The one that's on
There goes my hero
Watch him as he goes
There goes my hero
He's ordinary
There goes my hero
Watch him as he goes
There goes my hero
He's ordinary
@meesterdinglefritz2064 these are for the official song, not the demo
Totally different feel compared to Dave's drumming. Lack of dynamic , feels and timing. But still respect to Goldsmith's work
You got to understand something , this is a demo , when you get in the studio the producer makes it sound a lot better so I'm sure this would been a lot better in the studio of they gave him a chance
@@chucky2569 they recorded it in the studio with William too
if you're talking about the studio version, they had better mixing and there were two separate parts to the intro
A better mix doesn't make a better drummer, if what he plays isn't good it can't be changed through a mix
He was great with SDRE though! This may just be a case of grohl being to hands on with the drum parts and not allowing him to bring some of his own style into the part.
I fully believe Dave was a better drummer than William. But Id rather have had Dave than Taylor.
This HAS to be satire... I do not think I have ever seen a more ridiculous comment in my whole life. 😅
Taylor was tecnically better than both Dave and William, but his style was very different, so the drumming changed a lot upon his coming. The same is the case for Freese, to a much bigger extent even.
Wow..! Everything that William Goldsmith has recorded here is pretty much the same as Dave has re-recorded... All the ideas are William's...! Dave is probably a better drummer but hello..? William should be credited as a co-writer of the songs. The way this was done by Dave is not the way it should be done..
nah fairly sure Dave Grohl wrote the drum part for William Goldsmith to play and the parts in this demo are different to the actual recording.
Nah, it was clear that Dave wrote these songs with *these* drum parts in mind, I mean the chorus drum pattern is LITERALLY from a old demo of Daves called Pokey the little puppy.
Strongly agreed 👍 💯
I'm pretty sure Dave dictated every single drum part. If you watch William talking about the whole experience, it seems to be the case. Maybe he had some liberty with some few rolls here and there if that.
Thats not true at all- Dave plays completely different
Nate fucks up the bass line at 1:50 way worse than anything Will does in this recording (I didn't even hear any out and out mistakes on his part).
Guess he's a shitty bass player who can't hack it and deserves to be replaced since apparently this specific demo recording of My Hero is the end all, be all of whether or not someone is cut out for the Foo Fighters, if the comments section is to be believed. 🙃
Oh, and Dave not even having the lyrics finished and fucking up the delivery at the start of the second verse? He's definitely out as vocalist, as well. 🙃🙃🙃
its called a demo for a reason
I only see a hater getting overcomplicated over a demo. It's just meant to give an idea, to show how the final song is meant to be. It can always be subjected to changes, including the members themselves.
Way better than Taylor Hawkins drumming! Adam does it better 🤙
This is why William lost the gig.
Rest in peace taylor hawkings💔
Well, it wasn't Taylor drumming on this album for one. It was Dave himself. He re-recorded all the drums himself.
no
@@Jasonsprague1981 William is a good drummer but he's more of an indie rock guy. Not just straightforward rock.
