He plays a lot more like Dave to be honest. Hard as fuck with a lot of emotion. Not shading Taylors drumming by the way, but he never smashed the shit out the drum the way Dave and Shane does.
Why would he be? They are a Band in there 50's. He is young he has his own future. I wouldn't want to tour with a load of grown ups. He will want too find his own way. He drums for his Dad's old band which probably means more to him at this moment in time.
I am sure their current drummer - while he is an amazing, talented guy - is holding that seat for Shane when he is ready to take over for his dad. What a proud moment.
Ya’ll he didn’t “mess up” or “miss” the original fills…he simply did his OWN fills. Shane is drumming Shane’s way. 😂 He doesn’t drum just like Dave, so of course there is gonna be some difference to the originally recorded track. His dad certainly didn’t always drum the tracks exactly as they were recorded. He also added in his own flare and tended to play a little more energetically, which is exactly what Shane is naturally doing here. He’s 16 years old and a ball of energy. Very talented nonetheless. He did a fantastic job. It’s wonderful to see the happiness on the band’s face while playing with him and to see Shane’s big beaming smile when he took the kit. ❤️
He did screw up and totally lost his place but if you aren’t a drummer you may not notice. He is young and needs time. Jason Bonham is far better now than when he began in his early 20’s as an example
@@flyingburritobro68 I was there, he didn't miss anything, he played so hard he broke atleast 2 sticks, thats the bits you can hear, being there you see him grab a new stick atleast twice. He fucking killed it and was an amazing live performance
Exactly. He did screw up, “being there” doesn’t mean you know better 😂 the recording is just as telling, I promise.. no one is shitting on the kid, but there is a difference between “his own way” and out of time…
Shane looks like Taylor. He's a brilliance Drummer. He's so proud to play on his fathers place. Stunning! Love and respect for Shane Hawkins. 🙏👌💯👏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I love watching the other guys’ faces when Shane plays, particularly Nate 😊 Very proud uncles! And last night it was really noticeable that although Shane is growing in himself and emerging from Taylor’s shadow their identical facial expressions and mannerisms were uncanny. What a special treat, so glad I was there to see it.
It’s funny when you’re a son of a drummer at least one of children will follow, I’ve been playing for over 50 years and I’m an ok drummer, I gave my 1965 pearl kit to my guitar playing son a couple years ago, Covid era and he is unreal, he could play with these guys, so I think it runs in the family
i’ve been on a nirvana kick recently and it just blows my mind that dave shared the same stage and life with kurt cobain and went on to also be successful in the foo fighters. dave is the man!
Yep. Pretty heavy when you consider that. Recorded only 6 months after Kurt's death. Can you imagine going through that and then writing something as awesome as this? @dustyhills8911
And you STILL haven’t pubated into a free spirited fly??? That would suck being a maggot for that long…. uuugh… those little bastards haunt my dreams at night!!! He is growing and growing. Lots of energy, passion and above all a comfortable groove. Drummers who hit exactly the same as on the record are great, but I love playing like Shane.
Holy crap, it seems like he really hit a bit of a growth spurt (he's really starting to look a lot like his dad!) since the last time we saw him. Glad to see he's doing okay and following in his dad's footsteps.

@@Littlewings1211 No shade, but shade right? It may not make sense to YOU, but that kid is 17(?) years old and looks and drums just like his father. That’s kind of emotional. @@robertdewitt4369 no, when I said no shade I meant exactly that. It made no sense to ME because it isn't my opinion, so I asked for clarification. I was there and people saying he missed a beat here and there was simply him breaking about 3 sticks whacking those drums that hard, at first I thought he missed or lost the beat, then saw him grab a new drumstick. He didn't miss anything, he fucking played those drums so hard he broke ATLEAST 2 sticks. He was fucking awesome.
As much as i loved Taylor as a drummer ive always preferred Daves drumming style, and for me i think Shane is more of a Dave style drummer than his dads style, i think its also cool that DG takes shane under his wing like he has, taking him on tour dates and letting him play etc so cool that hes keeping the Hawkins era alive.
Unreal how that kid plays like his dad but hits like Dave. It’s a crazy mix of both their styles
well said. that's exactly what I thought after a few bars, plays like his dad but hits like Dave, its a brain melt, too good to be true.
you see something where there is nothing let him be him self...
So glad the Foos are looking after Shane. He's a Great drummer and an awesome young man!
Like I’d trust them to look after the kid after what happened to his dad

He plays way harder and faster than Taylor. Really a perfect mix of Dave and Taylor…

Exactly the same over here haha! Was so stoked when they said "we're gonna invite our friend up to play drums"
I spotted him too and wondered the same thing 😂
Thanks for making it possible with the act of prayer.
What an honor it is for US to have Shane & FOO FIGHTERS!! Talent runs thru that young man's veins!!🎶🥁
